'Cuz sometimes you just need a non-gameplay thread for a bit.

A little comparation.

GGX-XXXSignComparation.jpg

This has been discussed earlier, but I also want to point this out. Sol seems to be taking them roids real good. I really dislike how bulky he got. He really looks similar to Terry Bogard in KoFXIII. It would be cool if they have his old non bulky self as an alternate costume. This could be a response to SF4 though. Maybe to draw in the crowd from there? I also really dislike how huge the characters in SF4 are lol. Ky looks good, kinda giving nods to Saber Lily, yet still good.

Other than that, the game looks really good. They really nailed the GG look imo.. I never realized it was 3D until they rotated the camera. I may be wrong, but it seems like this game is running on Unreal Engine 4. I was wondering when 3D graphics would reach a point where they can be made in 3D, but they maintain that 2D feel. Lo and behold, this game pops up. I also really like how the animation skips into different frames, giving it that 2D like feel. Overall, this game looks fantastic.

To the people complaining that that this game looks too colorful and non gritty, I honestly never remember GG looking "gritty". It was always a colorful game. If they do make it look gritty though, I really want them to take the heavy metal inspiration to a whole new level, and construct something similar to Brutal Legend's metal album cover inspired world.

Above all else, NEW GG. HYPE GET! Here is hoping that sol/order-sol is A tier and up lol.

CCVengeance:

Hope you enjoy it here in DustLoop. It's never too late to start learning a new Fighting Game.

Okay, so about the actual game:

I'm liking the look as of now. It's more efficient and to be honest--it looks cool. Like, sometimes it's hard to tell it's 3D, because they really used the cell-shading well. This looks like it could be quite good.

Stages will have to be designed so that lighting doesn't fuck up the viewpoint though.

I never played GG as much as BB, but dammit I love that game. And this trailer is so f**** hype. I don't need much more than BB, GG and P4A. I don't know how ASW manages to pull games like those, but holy **** they are awesome. Makoto/Johnny/Aigis all the way.

Oh I finally saw where everyone was getting "oh they changed the clash system" from. Guys, a recreation of their special intro is not a good place to analyze clash mechanics...

At least Millia looks good :toot:

Fuck yeah she does. I like the hat, and that she's not dead.

There are no gameplay aspects.

Well, there are if you wanna talk about the Clash and Dust system; or if you wanna talk about why they decided to show us how good Ky's 6P still is...

Edit:

It's not a recreation; it's a meaningful part of the trailer. Just because it's an early trailer does not mean it's completely devoid of meaning. It shows part of their state of mind, focus, audience acknowledgement/targeting as well as hints to what they have planned or what ideas they're tinkering with.

I could potentially see them sort of following in SF4's footsteps and making the gameplay more like an older, really popular game (#Reload). Which could explain some of the combos and moves in the video. But who really knows at this point.

Hmm... come to think of it, wasn't #Reload the last Guilty Gear that Ishiwatari directed? I can't remember.

The hat gives enhanced hair powers XD. But why would she be dead? Did I miss something?

We don't know for a fact that it was a special intro, though. Neither Sol nor Ky did anything that would be impossible in actual gameplay (like throwing the second hit of Tyrant Rave), so it very well could have been a recreation of the special intro using actual gameplay mechanics.

Also, as cool as the "cut-ins" for Tyrant Rave and Ride the Lightning were (2:11 - 2:14), I just noticed how blatant and in-your-face they would seem in actual gameplay. IMO, Guilty Gear supers don't need to be presented like SF4 Ultras.

For me it's the other way, the only BB I've played (and mostly story mode) was BBCT, but it's a decent game with its own merits. I could play GG and P4A all day, I'll take BB too as well if I knew how to play it properly. But the air-dasher/anime FGC needs more cohesion in order to make our ames more visible. If things go well we can easily have an ASW game in EVO for the next 3 years.

2013: P4A

2014: BBCS

2015: GGXrd

And that would be fucking awesome.

Agreed on that, cutscenes in the middle of fights just make everything feel slower.

If anyone liked the song. Looks like the singer is from a band called Outrage.

It's remarkably similar to their special intros from XX/#Reload on. I should find a recording of it... at any rate, it's entirely too blatant for me to think "oh gosh look at these neat, not at all oddly specific clashes."

Angra, like all the forbidden beasts, would eventually claim Millia's body for its own, killing her like Eddie did Zato. That clearly hasn't happened.

...the existing special intro is recreated using "actual game mechanics." It's just very tightly scripted, with a few unique effects, which sums up this entire trailer quite nicely.

Also, it's just a super flash, don't worry too much about it. They don't seem much longer than the existing ones, anyway.

I'm slightly confused too, since isn't Eddie supposed to be dead via storyline reasons?

Taking place after GG2 does make me wonder who exactly will be returning. i.e. from what I remember Zappa got all his ghosts exorcised out of him at the end of someone's storyline, so who knows.

Will That Man finally be playable or a boss?

well GG2 had him as a boss. he filled the screen with projectiles and had helper bits and beam attacks.

and given that GG2 ends with him talking ominously with Raven, it is a possibility that either of them could show up.

but we really only have the trailer to go by for anything.

Are there any that you can RC during their superflash? :v:

lol, probably no :D But I can see it messing up some frc timings. But this is just a showcase, it doesn't mean it will get into the final game.

The only thing I don't like is Milias hat and Sols overly buffed shoulders, everytnhing else looks great. They really did a great job with this transition. I can't wait to see Zappa with Raoh and Eddie with shadow moves.

Ah, I thought you might be referring to her ending in AC+ where she's stabbed to death by a random guy out of flippin' nowhere. Glad I was wrong on that assumption as that ending sucked.

And, Millia's Forbidden Beast is called Angra? When/where was this revealed? I must be really behind on my Guilty Gear lore if I missed that in any of the games.

It'd almost be neat if it did have a full cutscene, but you could still RC it and continue to combo in cutscene mode.

They've had to have been working on this for a while, possibly concurrent with +R. I doubt they'd throw away the GG we know just for a new engine.

Either the Material Collection/Bible or in one of the Drama CDs, I couldn't tell you off-hand.
