keep in mind arcsys has a really small dev team and shipping out a really barebones demo means they have to spend way less resources on developing it which absolutely subtracts from development time. i imagine sony is the reason the demo exists, not arcsys.

also the demo is there to show off the games graphics at 1080p too. this is why i assume its ps4 only.

Yeah while the tech behind it is nothing special it does make a really nice "Tech Demo" due to how unbelievably gorgeous the game looks. I imagine this demo is for people who haven't even heard of the game. Nice graphics does go a long way to woo people,

It really makes no sense to make it time limited and only for PS+,

To play online multiplayer on PS4 you need PS+ anyway.

It doesn't make sense to have a PS4 and to not have PS+ paid for at the year-level.

Regional PS+locked demo mooching is pretty much the only time when not having PS+ becomes an issue.

But the demo does not have online as far as I know, so there is no need to limit it to PS+ users.

Don't see it as a demo. In fact it's more like a limited trial.

Lots of game limited trials are for ps+ users only.

My entire point was if you have a PS4 but don't have PS+ you're doing it wrong, so limited trials being PS+ only is really a barely-existent issue, which only comes up when we try to get stuff from other regions.

I don't have to care about it though, seeing as I don't have a PS4 anyway. My concern is still 100% focused on us still not having a US release date.

Using the Evo or TGS demo wouldn't cost anything development wise.

Maybe adding Zato and Millia would have been more interesting.

I am already bored from practicing Sol in Arcades.

So maybe I should practice some Ky stuff.

And stream some session to teach how to play Sol in Xrd.

With the whole PS+ thing, it might have something to do with Sony as they usually control PS+ content. Probably why it isn't on PS3 either.

Nailed it.

They won't have you get ps+ on ps3 when you can play online for free.

Whereas you're likely to have ps+ cuz it's needed to play online with the ps4. (And most of today's games are oriented to multiplayer so yeahhh. A ps4 without ps+ is like a ps3 with just one demo installed on it.)

Bullshit. They'd have to cut any content in the game not intended to be datamined to reduce filesize and make sure nothing gets datamined/ is playable (if you disable the characters but leave them in the game they take up a shitload of room and you can get the files and then get all the frame data a month before release on top of that, also getting stuff like quotes against someone like Leo if hes playable but unnaounced etc)

. Also any bugs that might be outstanding with new content/optimization. Say Zato's shadow might actually cuase brief slowdown because tweaks havent been made yet etc, which is fine if its in a demo when you can control how its used or you disable the character or dont show it on screen if showing the game off etc. Once its on peoples PS4s then they can do whatever they want with it.

What they did was what they woud have had to do ANYWAY, they just chose to specifically remove a certain level of content because they felt it would be best for sales/showing off/security/whatever/even malice if you want.

But it's fucking bullshit to say "it wouldnt be any work".

if arcsys dumps a demo with all of the content still intact just unselectable, then maybe you can mak that claim, but thats very atypical of a demo and sony would hate them for A) wasting peoples precious harddrive space B) wasting terrabytes of unecessary bandwidth

i wrote this really fast btw sorry about that

The TGS build didn't have any mode.

You just press start and the Arcade mode begins.

theyd still have to remove characters for space then, they'r enot going to release the entire cast.

also just beacuse they made it so you press a button to do that doesnt mean there isnt a bunch of data under the hood that people could pull. the demo could have just shortcutted but still have all of the character voices/story mode dialogue/fmvs etc which they would have to remove for space reasons as well.

It's like you are saying that I will just keep playing a single player mode against Ky or Sol because there aren't any other character data inside the demo files.

You think you won't?

Would be neat though..

Loved the Virtua Fighter 2 demo back then with only Sarah and Lion.. loads of fun for a kid *ahem*

(EDIT: just because this sounds kinda weird a day after writing.... it was NOT loads of fun because they're male+female charakters.... just messing around in the game system for hours was sweet)

I hope that was an ironic statement.

Not really.

I mean, wouldn't you be more excited about having the game if the characters you want to play are not in the demo ? Wouldn't you be bored if they gave you everything you wanted ?

If a movie teaser showed you the ending of the movie, would you still go pay and see it ?

The demo, in that sense, is like a teaser to me. A teaser whose aim os only to demonstrate (demo...) what the game is capable of.

Do you see what I mean ?

"Fuck the game nigga! I got this demo tho"

Isn't it better to have fun with the complete game rather than the demo ?

A demo is to let people test a part of the game. To appeal. To make people buy the full game later.

It'd be terrible if people just downloaded the demo and played with it instead of buying the actual game.

Damn, at least North America have a release date.

I can't see ASW not selling Xrd in Europe... After all every GGs has been released in Europe sometimes after the NA release...

I don't want to assume anything but maybe that's why a lot of people are not pleased with the demo content: They're sure they'll get the game.

How about making it so you can only launch the demo 5 or 10 times or something like that, full arcade rooster, arcade and versus only modes.

Developing time aside, of course, I believe that'd be the best course of action.

But that's not what will happen so oh well.
