kosmos badgirl Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Shoryuken report about the famitsu scan. http://shoryuken.com/2014/11/05/guilty-gear-xrd-sign-joins-the-massive-online-lobby-party-will-support-up-to-64-players/
Rhannmah Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 But that arcade lyfe though yeah, but in real arcade life there was always the very real danger of bodily harm if you actually did something considered dickish, like grabbing in SF2 (ugh, those were the REAL scrub days)

Kazuki Slice Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 We had 64-player online lobbies with Online Training confirmed months ago? We didn't have 64-man lobbies confirmed, but Online Training was one of the first things they confirmed a long time ago.
Tokkan Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 We didn't have 64-man lobbies confirmed, but Online Training was one of the first things they confirmed a long time ago. Online Lobbies in BBCP and P4U2 don't have Online Training, only Player Matches do.
ElvenShadow Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Extra stuff is nice and all but I'll just be playing nothing but ranked online anyway.
werewolfgold Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I'd rather have the 3D players learn the ways of logic. You mean the logic of taking a Japanese term such as "high-level attack" and having it be "mid attack" in English and vice-versa? Yeah, good luck with that. But, honestly, the blocking properties of attacks don't have a lot to do with the actual attack height so it's all shot to hell anyway.
White Man Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Extra stuff is nice and all but I'll just be playing nothing but ranked online anyway. This is kind of how I feel (though I plan on playing some Player Matches as well). The 64-player lobbies are a neat bullet point feature to list on the back of the box, but they're just not that practical. They're a (usually) laggy, inefficient way of setting up matches with people and they tend to be virtually empty once a game has been out for more than a month. I can only assume ASW knows this, which explains why they're obviously half-assing this mode in Xrd. The customizable avatar characters in CP might've been a completely unnecessary feature, but they were pretty much the only thing that made the lobby mode in that game remotely interesting.
Circuitous Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I'd rather have the 3D players learn the ways of logic. The terminology makes perfect sense in 3D.When you're blocking high, anything coming at your body (Highs, Mids) are blockable. When you're blocking low, you're only blocking your feet. Highs go over your head, but mids still make contact. You're only blocking your feet, so you eat the hit to the head.It doesn't suit 2D games perfectly, since only certain attacks are overhead with no real regard for the animation. But the terminology is short (mid vs. overhead, and all single kanji in Japanese) so it's easy to use. It's worth understanding.
RurouniLoneWolf Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Extra stuff is nice and all but I'll just be playing nothing but ranked online anyway. Youv'e said this a few times now but I don't really understand why you would want to do this. Perhaps, it's different in Japan and it's more like Skullgirls where good players frequently use ranked/quick match? Here in NA, you usually don't find good players too often in ranked. They usually play in lobbies or player matches. Also, just to be clear, I should clarify that by "good" player I mean someone who at the very least isn't going to just mash Terumi's 6C xN. Maybe I should've said more interesting players.

Though I'm nervous about this one, I'm sensing there are going to be a lot of arrogant pricks in this one. I already see a lot of people with superiority complexes just because they're "Old School a Players".
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Probably because people only play Ranked in NA to get dem trophies/achievements and bolster their rankings. If we had better connections, I bet Ranked and Quick Match would get used much more often, since you'd actually be able to find people to play. The first point also explains why you often find zero bar connection players, these guys don't care about quality of play, they just want to lag you to death and then D/C if they end up losing to preserve their record.
SoWL Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Online Lobbies in BBCP and P4U2 don't have Online Training, only Player Matches do. Your original post doesn't really make the connection between online lobbies and online training, so I assumed that you simply missed the original online training confirmation.

Ya know, I don't get why people do that. Like, you have a 100% win rate but then you're a known rage quitter and probably get bodied by most players because most players actually lose and learn from their mistakes. I have an awful track record in a lot of fighting games, but I can't say any of those loses weren't my fault.
White Man Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I just know in my heart that if I can keep my win ratio above 90% for a hundred matches, Dad will finally say he's proud of me.

They don't care about being good at the actual game or challenging themselves to learn something new. It's kinda like trying to get a high score, or trying to find a way to break a certain number of hits/damage level in a combo. At that point, whether or not you're "good" at the game is irrelevant, because the little win counter and the achievements list both say you did something.

I like that in newer games (and Virtua Fighter i think) they tend to only show the win counter and some arbitrary "experience-point" counter. So people who lose get XP but noone sees how much they lose (if you don't do the xp-math). Result: MUCH less rage-quitting, since the loser gains something too and not in a negative way. In games like SC5 where every little statistic is saved and displayed people become quite horrible.... Dunno how exactly this is handled in Xrd.

I remember first playing p4u I was learning yukari the first 3 weeks, and I didnt win a single match until I got my BNB down. I was fine afterwards, but it is kinda nice that they took down the w/l ratio lol
Antaiseito Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I remember first playing p4u I was learning yukari the first 3 weeks, and I didnt win a single match until I got my BNB down. oh well, i had 9% winrate in GG+R , now at 17% since training new blood... happens if you mostly fight old heroes, still fun and educating ;D
MasterXDrake Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Cool so you can join the 20 other roleplayers in the Ultimax lobby taking space that could be used for playing games? Maybe they wanted a greater focus on being able to find a match, which the P4 and BB lobbies aren't as great, so they took from that and tried to create a different system. PS: Get it through your head this is the first version of GG, and they had to build the models from nearly scratch in a completely new engine. Persona is on the 2nd game and has 22 characters. GG on the first has 17. BB on the 2nd game had 17 as well...(Platinum came out exactly when CS2 did). YEAH BE HYPE FOR THE SEQUEL WITH 2-3 MORE CHARS PLUS DLC CHARS! As for the latter, all the more reasons that GG Xrd should NOT have a smaller team than P4U or BB.
king of heart Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I am pretty sure we will get another character beside Leo because the characters select screen would look really awkward with him only at one side.

Gear May Cry Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I am pretty sure we will get another character beside Leo because the characters select screen would look really awkward with him only at one side. Yeah i was thinking of this too maybe we will get some kind of hidden char?
AllyOfJustice Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 The hidden character will be a girl wearing a fancy cloak/dress and a goofy looking hat. Her last name will be valentine and she will be a grappler. Her command list is all command grabs.
