PS4 / PS3 version incompatibility online?
ElvenShadow replied to Villainous's topic in Guilty Gear General
The net code seems much better now post patch. Certainly there are still laggy matches but I got some that felt just about like offline. I never had a problem with cross version play either. -

Extra stuff is nice and all but I'll just be playing nothing but ranked online anyway. -

Just to clear things up, I did not actually PLAY the PS3 version at TGS but I recorded other people playing it and did not realize it was even the PS3 version until it was pointed out to me at the end of the match that I recorded. Either way, I think the skeptics are worrying over nothing. There's no reason to think that the PS3 will not be able to run the game as arcade perfect at 60 frames per second. -

I am leaning towards running Xrd on PS3 at Frosty Faustings VII. I will own both versions but I think running it on PS3 will end up making it easier for people to use their own sticks and stuff. -

No need to bother getting the demo now for me lol -
Well it was more of me anticipating him doing something and him doing something else. If he went for a second roll to try and throw me then jumping away would have been the right move but I jumped the gun and read the situation wrong.

Hmmm, so the Play-Asia version only seems to come with the pad. I think I'm just gonna rock the Ebten + Tenso proxy route. It seems it will only cost me like an extra 13 bucks or so. Thanks. Edit: Upon second thought, it might be faster and cheaper to just have the game shipped to a friend's address in Japan and then have him send it by Japan post EMS. -
I was probably anticipating him doing a double roll and try to throw me so I think I was trying to jump away and I let go of block. Yea, I shouldn't have gotten hit by that but oh well.

Sorry to go off topic but I have a quick question. I didn't pre-order the special edition yet but want to do it soon. What website is best for importing games from Japan and having them shipped to the US? Basically, I want to know which site tends to send things out the fastest. Since I have lived in Japan for years now, it has been a very long time since I had to import any games. Thanks for any suggestions. -

I actually teamed up with Buppa in a Mikado tournament several months ago. We made it to grand finals and lost to Nemo/FAB/Ogawa. There are even vids of that tournament on youtube if you search for it. -

Maan... this whole processes has been a mixed bag of successes and failures. Overall the new GG is a quality game (or at least, most of the US veterans and and many Japanese players seem to think so. However, we have an unavoidable mix of people that didnt get their main or they just hate GG. I believe that anyone who gives GG a chance will not be disappointed. Rock on everyone!) This post was edited a few times. Protip, do not check Dustloop when you are drunk. -

Incorrect. Inoue (Kazunoko) mained HOS but over the 7 years I've been here I have seen him at arcades getting 30+ win streaks regularly using almost half the cast. He can play pretty much anyone in AC. I think he just hadn't been playing Xrd and is focusing more on Ultra right now. -
I'm on my way to Final Roundbats. They are running console UNIEL tourney on stream at about 1 pm Japan time. I just bought the game a couple days ago and have only been learning from just playing online matches and a little training mode. I haven't read much about strategies or optimal combos until right now. I just read this whole thread on the train on the way to Tokyo lol. I'm playing Merkava and I think he's really fun. I have the basic zoning game down but my combos and oki are not optimal and I lack matchup exp but I'll play in the tourney. If you check out the stream or watch the archives I would really appreciate some critique or advice.

From my personal experiences fighting Zato in Xrd, I think his greatest approach involves guarding little Eddie well with smart drill spacing and screen position and also abusing the ground puddle move where he hides (sorry I dunno the name off the top of my head) and then YRCing it to instantly recover and is in an advantageous position, is key. Also, smart positioning of the "summon spots" that are new to Xrd that allow Zato to summon little Eddie from that fixed point is also key. Using it to protect Zato from assaults, or to sandwich the opponent and force him into a situation where he is forced to block and suck up either classic Zato ground string pressure and mixups or the nightmare that is being in the air when little Eddie is bellow you in this game. Relying on little Eddie as the main tool of assault is still viable because main Zato can compliment that with the go underground move and then simply use little Eddie as a form of bait. The opponent focused on killing little Eddie but then Zato can YRC out of it and put himself in a very advantageous position, and that's assuming the opponent even manages to take little Eddie out. I've honestly noticed that using that go underground move with YRC is REALLY good. As for Ogawa, I only have played him once in Xrd and it was last weekend and he beat me. I honestly think he knows what he is doing quite well and that making claims that he doesn't know how to play his character properly seems a little.... uninformed. You have to realize that only a handful of matches get recorded and people who are judging players online are only basing those judgements on like 5% (and that is a high estimate) or less, of how many matches these players have actually played. I could understand making claims like that if you played at the same arcade as him often and observed many of his matches regularly and also had experience fighting against him (and this applies to anyone for that matter) but it just seems a little... hasty (?) to make such a bold claim based off of such little to go on. But what do I know about Zato, I'm just some Faust player. -
