That is going to depend heavily on if people plan to stay for a weekend or for 7-10 days.

UPDATE #1

It's been a while since the initial poll (5 months) so I wanted to see what people still thought about having this. About a year from now is when plans would be finalized. You'd have dates for booking plan tickets, a place (or places) to stay, and a rail pass if you so choose.

Plane tickets seem to be the best prices around the late May time frame this year ($900-$1250), so that's probably when I would try to plan it next year since I know money is the limiting factor for a lot of people. The prices seem to spike for most of the Summer all the way through August.

Relevant games are still a big question since Xrd could be updated in arcades by then (and we'll still be on the vanilla version). Our versions of Persona might overlap but that's wishful thinking. BB was released on console, so we might be getting updates on a new arcade version later this year, so I'm not going to hold my breath. The Arcana guys seems to be really interested in this so that's another possibility.

Would late May be an okay time for a lot of people? I will start talking to people in Japan to try and get some details ironed out, but I don't want to put tons of effort into a lost cause.

May 2015 would be fine for me, though of course I suppose Summer '15 would likely be the most popular option.

I am planning to go to Japan next year anyway, but if TSB Japan were to happen for real I would obviously try and organize my trip during the same period so that I could attend to it.

The only time constraint I would have would be midterms or finals. Everything else can be worked around for me.

I don't quite grasp what you are meaning by saying May would be the best option? Are you saying that buying a ticket in May 2014 for a trip to Japan in summer 2015 would be the best time~ish price wise?

I don't mind what games will be relevant or not. I wanna have fun, press buttons and take a tour around Japan as much as I can.

TL;DR : Any time of the year is fine with me, except midterms and finals week every semester. Games do not matter for me. I want to travel and see as much Japan as i can.

ps: will there be a HOW TO Japan for n00bs? like how do i buy a railpass, or where/who do i speak to if i wanna do more than just going there for tournament kthxbye?

All I was saying was that since ticket prices are cheap around that time this year, they will most likely be around the same price next year as well. I would also plan it late in May to try and be after (college) finals for a lot of people.
