TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 If you want to do SJI combos off of it, yes. Those combos are easy and do very respectable damage off of lvl3 RI, especially near the corner. Otherwise, the move has stronger followups such as CCing into running Dloop into the corner.
Sesshyru Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Ahhhh.... So thats how he did that one combo.... (5s->ji->5hs->l3RI->hj.s->j.hs->j.d->l2BRP->*falls*->*some how jumps again or something*->j.k->dj.hs->j.d->land->dust combo) I think thats how he did it... leme get the link... Dangit my work Inet blocks youtube Q.Q
WUT Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Mechanically, aside from TK'ing Lvl3 RI for a potential Lvl2 special finisher DL, is to stop your horizontal momentum. The only other time I've purposefully tried to TK a special is for BRP. TK'ing Lvl1 BRP without actually leaving the ground (no air BRP) lets you jump install it without having to gatling into a JC-able normal beforehand. Nice for the FRC and potential mix-up after it (fuzzy guard, IAD/landing low), but the myriad of JCable normals HOS has renders it rather pointless. Another nifty feature that's pretty much useless due to difficulty is that a TK'd aerial Lvl1 BRP actually leaves you in frame advantage. It comes out one frame slower (19 startup + 4 frames before you can input the move), but it has less landing recovery (8F for aerial vs 6+6 for grounded), and it's one attack level higher. Again, really hard to perform (you'll probably end up doing a SJ TK aerial BRP and making the startup and recovery even longer, or just doing a normal TK BRP before you actually get an aerial TK BRP), but it's kinda' awesome theory-wise. Free conditioned CH 6K anyone?
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 If you were able to consistently do TK lvl1 BRP without leaving the ground, I could think of several ways to use it that would not be pointless. Being able to do a BRP FRC into mixup out of nowhere would be quite sweet.
Sesshyru Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=rA7RsbeLaTU @WUT: the combo I was talkin about starts at 1:27
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 He didn't use JI in that combo. What happened was that his charge level was high enough that after RCing the level 2 BRP, he still had enough charge for a level 2 SV, which had a long enough untechable time for him to land and still juggle Dizzy.
Sesshyru Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Wat?.. I didn't think you could move after you did a BRP..
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 He RCed the second hit of the BRP.
LM_Akira Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 Working on/testing Lv3 BRP combos for the first post, I put this little vid together: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra1enpEGxAg I've missed out WUT's basic knockdown combo (Full Lv3 BRP dash 5HS JC j.HS, j.D, Lv2 BRP) but is there any others that people use asides from that in the vid? I already know Hintalove is going to say just go for the DL (and reaVer will say use 5HS HJI lol)
Sesshyru Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 LM_Akira = too pro x.x I use: n/aL3n/a You gota be in the corner tho. It works
reaVer Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Well, you'd use 5S-H hji if you did it to close to the wall and your opponent bounces behind you... Otherwise you got for the dustloop:P
Sesshyru Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Not that close to the wall >.> but not far enough from the wall to do a dust loop.. Its werid, its at that distance that if you go for a full loop youll drop it, but not close enough that they will bounce behind you... if you get it.. Akira try to do that Fafnir -> d loop -> l3 -> dloop combo xD I was only able to do it once x.x ..
Hintalove Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Dloop off lv3 brp is kinda gay because it's not going to ever end in kd(except with the perfect spacing from the corner, and ac frc, and juggleing the dloop with c.s, and even then its really tricky timing). But, you should go for it, because its the manly thing to do. That is assuming you have the right spacing for the running jh. If not, cut your losses and do a dinky combo into l2 brp ac and pressure into something more substantial. Or, if they have a burst, hj burst bait combo(if you think they will go for it), or in the case of no burst and they die, go for c.s > 5h ji combo for the mad easy damage. Man, I can't wait to start carling in bb tomorrow.
WUT Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Manly is Lvl3 BRP, buffer D for Lvl1 GB AC, dashing j.HS, j.D jc dj.HS, dj.D xx Lvl2 BRP. The dj.HS, dj.D is distance specific, but that juicy extra damage can't be ignored. Tensionless, super manly, buffering involved. Can't go wrong with it.
Sesshyru Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 You can finish the last D loop with j.S->j.D instead of hard slash. Works fine for a bit less dmg.. Aww mang you get to play BB Hentai >.<?.. Tell me how its like $( Will most people be quiting GG for BB?... Manly is Lvl3 BRP, buffer D for Lvl1 GB AC, dashing j.HS, j.D jc dj.HS, dj.D xx Lvl2 BRP. The dj.HS, dj.D is distance specific, but that juicy extra damage can't be ignored. Tensionless, super manly, buffering involved. Can't go wrong with it. Vid or didn't happen (I need to see how its done xD... for the distance >.>...)
WUT Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Vid or didn't happen (I need to see how its done xD... for the distance >.>...) Just don't be in the corner. Every point that a Lvl2 GB could combo after Lvl3 BRP a Lvl1 can do the same. You just have to be quick when you buffer the D so as to not AC after Lvl3 BRP.
LM_Akira Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Manly is Lvl3 BRP, buffer D for Lvl1 GB AC, dashing j.HS, j.D jc dj.HS, dj.D xx Lvl2 BRP. The dj.HS, dj.D is distance specific, but that juicy extra damage can't be ignored. Tensionless, super manly, buffering involved. Can't go wrong with it. Nice. I know you can get all the usual dash 5S© HJ combos after a Lv3 BRP > Lv1 GB hit but I did try dash j.HS, j.D yada yada but couldn't get it. Maybe I need to delay that Lv1 GB a little more, just so they float a little bit lower afterwards ready for the dash j.HS... Sesshryu, you can do straight Lv3 BRP into Lv1 GB by itself but it has to be a fast kara-cancel. If you do something like 5K, 5S©, 5HS, Lv3 BRP into Lv1 GB the cancel to hold down D for CK Lv1 GB is a lot easier (thanks to the buffer window).
Sesshyru Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 oooooooo yah, I was lie wtf does buffer D mean.. I figured if he was talkin about Charge Keep he woulda just said Charge Keep.. Terminology ftl I do that some times but not on purpose and I wonder where my AC went... And then I'm sad because I'm ina combo.. One thing I can't do this is to JI and then HJ with a 5S relaunch x.x..

One thing I can't do this is to JI and then HJ with a 5S relaunch x.x.. Buffer just means pressing a button / performing a move before your last move has fully recovered - the input is stored for a very short time "ahead" of whatever you'll do next. e.g. 5HS, Lv3 BRP You can actually press HS and do the 236K motion before 5HS has completely recovered and the BRP is said to be "buffered". That's how you get Lv3 BRP twice in a row, you buffer the 2nd one just as the first one finishes. Same thing with the Lv3 BRP, Lv1 GB - you do 236K~D, 214S where the ~ means immediately press D after K. You won't get an AC if you do it fast enough as the D is buffered before the AC input window. Meaning you can then get your CK Lv1 GB. I'm going to explain this in depth in the next vid. As I said this buffering is easier if you do Lv3 BRP after a gatling string. As for HJI it just takes practice, it's just about doing 929 fast enough so that your initial JC is then canceled into a high jump.
LM_Akira Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Vid or didn't happen (I need to see how its done xD... for the distance >.>...) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnRX8HsumX8 I've added the combo WUT posted to the vid as well as a few others and re-shuffled it slightly for the time being. 1st part is non-knockdown combos, 2nd part is knockdown combos.
Sesshyru Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Yah I kno wat buffer means, I got confused with overlaping terminology. xP I still cant do a 969.. Maybe hopeless on a Pad? xD.. I'll keep at it. Aww you didn't do any fafnir -> L3 BRP combos xD
HolyBadSanta Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I was doing a little bit of training and i found something could be useful with 6P CH in midscreen. As long as the zoom focus don't enlarge the scene and still get the wallbounce, you can do BRP Lv3 Combo and RI Lv3 into dustloop, which means damages !

(not trying to start an argument)
HolyBadSanta Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 As far as I can recall, i don't see much people in a match, doing Lv3 brp or rockit after a 6P CH in midscreen, so if you can find some match where people use it i ll be glad to see some just to see if it could be reliable. It wasn't part of my game (except I used to use it a lot in corner or to push people there) since when I'm on Lv3 i prefer to bait for 2S CH or f.S CH to land Lv3 BRP or RI.

I usually use 6P as a tech trap. Same on CH. But i guarantee u won't find any matches with ppl using it (unless you do it in a match and record it so i can see u utilize it.)
