XVII Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hey, yo, shoutouts to PSN to actually stealing a winning match. More importantly, GGs to the Kokonoe I had the set with. Those were some back and forth rounds.
vKhalinpopopodhd Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 How to find Vita players. The life of a guy without home consoles. Not sure if starting a new thread just for Vita would be fine or not ehhhh
Monarch Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 How is it like playing on Vita? I couldn't imagine doing any combos, with such a control scheme
vKhalinpopopodhd Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I started off playing BBCS2 on my 3DS (cuz all I got is portable stuff) and god that was bad, but that basically started my main fighting game control preference to pad. So when I switched the Vita, it was a god send with probably the best pad I've used so far. I use R for A B and C and L for taunt (cuz Terumii taunt combos too irresistable) and really everything's fine. ...if I do get a console though I've been thinking about a fight stick... EDIT: Is pad that uncommon in fighting games lol?
TeeJay Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 ...if I do get a console though I've been thinking about a fight stick... EDIT: Is pad that uncommon in fighting games lol? It's not that uncommon as in you will see pad players at most tournaments. Some top players are pad players. I think SKD plays pad. I think stick is the majority but it's personal preference (if Wolfkrone can play Viper on pad). I find some things easier on each but I'm overall much more comfortable with a stick after the rough transition (took me about a month). I also changed grip several times. I played GGXXAC on psp a lot which is much harder than on vita.
Dawn of Musou Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Oh god netplay was terrible. Tonight was full of lag and disconnects and losses cause of lag and people who I tried to battle but they quit on me for basically no reason. GGs to IcingDeath, even though he disappeared on his win, Gonna blame PSN for that one. Our short two matches were solid, GGs. That was PSN's fault, I wanted to continue our set but you were already playing someone else. Maybe tomorrow night? Also why didn't you burst lol lost a set to hands down the scrubbiest noel I've ever seen.. the salt is real.. I'm sorry for ever suggesting another char might be more worthy of hate than noel. Now you understand.
susano Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 lost a set to hands down the scrubbiest noel I've ever seen.. the salt is real.. I'm sorry for ever suggesting another char might be more worthy of hate than noel. Welcome to pain.
Monarch Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I use pad myself. I bought a stick once (still collecting dust in my closet), but I play a character that doesn't really demand a stick. I find the choice of playing a fighting game with pad or stick, kind of like choosing to eat your ramen noodles with a fork or chop sticks.
vKhalinpopopodhd Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I played GGXXAC on psp a lot which is much harder than on vita. Does the PSP have a different grip or layout or do you mean in comparison to the PS Vita version of GGXXAC (+R or something?) I've only played GGXXAC+ for psp, but it was put on PSN so I got it as the PS Vita has a PSP emulator, but it's still on PS Vita if you see what I'm trying to say. Also yeah I figured it really came down to preference, I mostly see fight stick though. I use pad myself. I was wondering about what you meant by "such a control scheme" though, I mean it's practically the same as any other controller lol.

I have a stick that's collecting dust on the bottom shelf of my entertainment system. I'm just scared it'll take forever to learn stick. ._.
Monarch Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Yeah, personally I don't think it's worth my time. The first thing that stumped me was a good grip. I think the only regret that I'll have with not using a stick, is being able to show off my non existent stick art.

I'd probably end up doing this - PAD IT IS :D I had been to an arcade before and it did not end well :E although the buttons felt a bit unresponsive.
TeeJay Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I'd probably end up doing this - PAD IT IS :D I had been to an arcade before and it did not end well :E although the buttons felt a bit unresponsive. To clarify, I meant the psp d pad is worst than vita. On a serious note, a legit stick with sanwa buttons is really responsive. No one would use it otherwise. If you think about pressing a button, you've probably pressed it-- about as much pressure as a touch pad/mac pad. My opinion: Harder on stick: Instant air dashes and dashes. Half circles initially. Easier: Quarter Circles, everything else is cake. Multiple Buttons, etc. There are many stick/pad topics in the forum but if you can do everything you want on a pad, don't worry about it. Susano, are you a night owl and play preferably around 1-4 am? It's too late for me to use my stick since I'm around other people and pad me would be diminished. My pad Tsubaki isn't too much worse though.

It doesn't make you a bad player for losing to that. Working the graveyard most of this week, so no midnight games. No one plays this game in the morning, but I suppose I'll try in the morning clever... If not we'll have to play over the weekend. Also, #unielhypetrain
Hyderu Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hey, someone is on at 3 AM to play some matches?! *Sits down and wait* Uniel Not on Vita THE STRUGGLE IS REAL Buy a console, I believe is worth the cost. I was only on portable games too, but getting a console was awesome.

Hyderu Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Due to my circumstances I simply can't, unfortunately :< Oh, that's a shame. Hope you can get one soon and play with us. I'm down if you wanna play pad me. Sure, let's play some matches. I'm a pad warrior xD. I used stick like 2 weeks and throw the idea of using it again. I hated it.

Playing on pad when you really don't is strange. That was my first time playing Jin online and I forgot any combos. That was my first time playing Jin online and I forgot any combos. Lol, i missed dps and did normals instead.

PSN is getting a lot of lag and spikes lately. I hope this is nothing so bad and gets fixed later. On a side note, I think playing on pad is a little better for me unless you have the same controller for like 2 years and start getting 214 fraud motions xD. Welp, just try to adjust a bit maybe? Edit: GGs TJ, those were some good matches there. I can't deal too well with Litchi as always, hahaha. Hope we can play other time or day and get some good long set!

That first Litchi match vs. Rachel was on pad. The rest was on stick. It's interesting because I felt I was doing things differently and used a few different string variations that surprised me. I learned some things about my own habits, especially playing Tsubaki who I stopped practicing. I can't make fine tune adjustments without muscle memory or my habits are way too strong. It's going to be puzzling to mess up that process. I found myself wanting to dash command grab in pressure but literary did something else in the match, since doing it slow makes me subconsciously need to act immediately. I probably also need to retrain how I approach to pressing buttons. 30-40 minute challenge mode fraud Jin is pretty fun. Btw, I need to unlock Kagura since I didn't realize I didn't have to buy him. >_>

You should discard that habit and jump only on obvious things. I don't have too much exp with Rachel, that's why I didn't punished you so hard in those Litchi vs Rachel matches but if you fight some good Rachel like Errol or TD, you're screwed. Should be easy to play on pad after a few hours or maybe 1-2 days of practice and getting used to how it works, so don't give up and let's see what happens. Next time we should plays some stylish random matches to get salty and laugh a lot xD.

I was doing dumb stuff against frog and lobelia oki. I caught myself a few times going, you did it again. I played another Rachel that seemed on par with Errol whom I started doing the opposite. He saw I got scared and just started blocking for days. I gotta find a balance of mostly block and occasional back dash or dp. Likewise, I was expecting you to not 2c on wakeup and wind out and just reset to neutral. Unfortunately, I'm hard headed and need about 5-7 matches to lock in before hitting a wall-- slow on adaptation. I haven't played Howling Moon in a minute. We use to play Litchi mirrors in CS/EX and maybe even CT. Howling Moon and Woz have grown quite a bit since late CT/Early CS. Overall, I'm just doing too many high risk things, making judgments based on space and not options, and hard reads. I'm going to have to figure out my poking habits and go from there. Maybe I should be asking myself only, "what can they do?" for a while. Mac has indirectly given me some interesting processing ideas. I don't analyze information well enough in a match in a proactive/productive way. I have a huge list of questions to ask higher level players on the subject that I might just do some day.
