so i foudn out that robo-ky can get 20 survival levels before he ends 1 fight thats so awesome ^_^ but i was working on some basic stuffs, using that awesome guide of yours storm ^_^ but i was kinda wondering on my wii version (lol i got the wii ac) i was playing my friend and i could land the 63214K command as a oki, but coudlnt seem to get it on PS2 on a different date is that a change in the ps2 version, and i shouldnt be trying it anymore? or just a bad day of timing?

Wow, I was told by a may player Robo is easier to learn and his SRK is OP. Sad thing is he is one of the best may players in the US. I dont even think I should start and argument on the whats and whys.

What May player? I mean I guess I can see how one could argue he's easy to learn. Comparatively I think it's easier to do Robo's BnB combos (just learn Hs FRC) whereas May has to learn charge, sol has to learn clean hit hitboxes, etc. However I think the playSTYLE of Robo Ky is slightly more complicated, aka learning to zone with no AA, knowing when and how to mat effectively, etc. In terms of SRK being OP, I'm pretty sure most every player I've played against for the first few times has accused it of being free/easy damage. Once they learn to bait it/do safer oki, the complaining generally stops.

I assume he's talking about Level 3 SRK? The thing is good and comes out quick no doubt, but the lower levels are total garbage let's be realistic. Now if this was #R.... If anything people have a right to complain about his 5d, which is still funny.

Tension upkeep is far harder than playing May. Her mix-up game is ridiculous, and during combos you should just learn to hold back. It's not too hard to learn. I never understood that about his 5D. Is it really so good people can complain about it?:psyduck:

Yea is 5d is the only thing i see people complain about and i actually see a point. (Heck while at NEC, Msong and eshankya hit me with 5d few times). Also having no reiaible AA is sometimes (most characters have reliable AA.) Charge buffering isn't hard to do with May, and unlike robo ky who needs certain amount of tension for combos, she can loop off of many types of CH. God forbid I learn the frcs for may, which I haven't need to yet cause of her FB (which is way better then robo ky's to begin with). Only thing good about this match up is that robo ky has def and May cant take damage for shyt.

I was wondering what made may a 5.5 in Robo's favor anyways, but then again the only May I play is Kyle and he's freaking ridiculous :/ Anyways to most grief I get about Robo Ky is 5d: yes, fastest in the game, good range, people hate it level 3 air missile: against Dizzy or Faust, it just makes it so hard for them to really do anything because there hitboxes are so big. Robo Dash: Going through overdrives, giving tons of tension, etc Robo's got his quirks that make him annoying, but it's a lot easier to learn how to deal with those versus say, Slayer's quirks (amazing damage off of anything, good high/low that is hardly punishable).

I just wanted to post this so you guys have me on record and can harass me since ive been meaning to do this for a while. But its been at least a little while since we've had those match up forums so i think we should all try and share our experience and start seriously updating those threads with some info. So in that spirit im going to try to make a real effort to start posting up in some of the match ups i get to play alot within the next week or so.

my first suggetion to you, would be to go to training mode, and learn how some of his moves connect to each other. best way to know the character better, is to learn who moves you can do into what moves and so on.

Learn 5H FRC point (its a MUST).

Imho playing against the CPU would only give you bad habits in the future.. so using training mode to get ur execution up, make you more familiar with ur stick and ur character is the first step to take.

well in practice i do really well, but i dont translate that to battle too well, ya know? i mean... easiest way to make me mess up is pressure... the more pressure the more mistakes i make... hence the use of ky for the cpu, that one tends to pressure the hardest (imo at least)

yeah but also being able to do your combos repeatedly in practice (9 out of 10 times every time you go in there) will help them translate easily into real battle. As far as what you need to work on, if you havent, go check out stormlockes guide and it will point you in the right direction as to what you should be practicing. One thing i noticed you definately should learn is to TK your missiles instead of just jumping then missile.

tk? tiger knee, like when youd umm 2369 then it jumps you and you can just hit slash? never got that to work, so if im misunderstanding the concept that would be an awesome thing to help me out with! (the general gg new player guide has a acronym section, and TK isnt in there.... and its the 1 thing i dont get >< just my luck)

On top of that, if you're pad, set the RC to L1 or R2, depending on which one you like best, just need an RC button. Otherwise you won't get the 5H FRC, it's nearly impossible. And yes, that's how you tiger knee.

its just what you said...2369s, its just kinda hard with roboky cause his jump takes so long to start up. Just keep practicing and youll get it eventually.

okay then i got the idea, just havent done it yet ill work on that... and im using stick, i can frc good in practice... just like i got the timing, but i hit it and i go "hmm that was a nice shade of blue" while i lost 25% tension just to not know what to do with it lol but thank you for the help.... the TK thing always seems very useful but i just wasnt sure if i was even on the right path lol

Biggest thing u need to do is find comp and play them, no more cpu. Survial is your only bet if you dont have comp (which you should have some on East Coast easy). Dont horsie by itself 2-3 times in a row, it will be beaten out that way. (specially level 1-2). Get frc timing on 5HS and learn to TK missles. Actually fastest way to improve is just playing others, nothing else. Training execution in wel training mode is one thing, while during it in a real match is different. FYI props for having Alkaline Trio playing cause that band is fking awesome.

not really unplayable... but i think / roboky had to be really offensive... never let go of his rushdown and you might be able to win... but once you start blocking.. its like you have no way of winning since he exploded so easily => eat big damage combo with jacked up guard bar
