Pen_Ninja Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I recommend keeping up your training mode to make sure you're aware of all or at least most of her combo routes and where (screen position and hit stun scaling-wise) they should be used. This character shines when you finish combos properly and allow yourself to take advantage of her oki. I also recommend dropping the training dummy on block all and testing out ways to reset pressure in or out of the corner. It'll give you practice in Litchi's other strong suite and also give you an idea of how the staff acts at any point of time which also helps mid-screen confirms. Just try to be unpredictable but somewhat safe and efficient with it.
Pen_Ninja Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 more on the 6C > 4Kote > 5D oki... It looks to still be a good option but it's not as fool-proof as before. You can still do the same combo to catch forward rolls: 5D > 5B > 236B > 236C whiff > staff 2 > 6D > 5D > Kanchan > 6D > Tsubame > 6C But on no-techs and back rolls you can no longer get 5B > 4B on most of the cast so you need to do the following: 5D > 5B > j.B(e) > j.C(e) > j.B(m) > 5B > 4B > 6D > Tsubame > 6C There's a few problems with this... - You need to react to how they teched. After the 5B, forward roll, back roll and neutral tech > block all require different followups. It's definitely possible to react to each of these at the very least. - It's no longer DP safe. You can try and teach yourself to react to neutral tech with 2A > 1B > etc and hope that this will OS the DP but that's harder to do.
Synyster17 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 how do i make a safe approach as litchi. like when do i do 5dd or 2dd (if that makes sense). when do i use the four winds in the corner. when is my litchi guide. also corner carry is a problem to me for some reason. that and her combos are somewhat hard for me now (total the 4b nerf) that and three dragon midscreen combos are a problem for me still.

It's all really situational in the end... Much like most other character's neutral, it depends on what's happening in the match at that point in time. I guess I'll do a Litchi tutorial at some point... I feel like I'm finally good enough. Hopefully people won't hate me as much as when I made my Kokonoe video

I'm a new Litchi player, and my previous main was Arakune, and seeing as I haven't really played BB at all before, transitioning is pretty difficult for me. I feel like I'm getting more of the basic pressure down, but I know it needs a lot of work. A video guide explaining or showing ideas and fundamentals with Litchi would be so incredible and I would truly appreciate it ^w^

Pen_Ninja Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 i think sg said he would do one but idk what happened to that idea? I'm always happy to let somebody else do the work :P He'd be more qualified than myself I'm sure. @sG... what's the haps?
Cobalt Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 People on the JP BBS are trying to figure out ways to the use jB[e], jC[e] > j2D gatling we got with the update. One guy suggested, during staff recall, IAD crossup jC[e] > j2D. My stick is out of commission for a while so I can't mess around with it, but there's an idea for you.
Nakkiel Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I'm always happy to let somebody else do the work :P He'd be more qualified than myself I'm sure. @sG... what's the haps? I had posted about it a month or so before 1.1 was released so I wanted to wait. I'll start work on it here soon™
deadsnake Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 did anyone notice that j.2d[m] is no longer overhead on it's first hit? I'm pretty sure on 1.0 it was an overhead(and so does the wiki)
Nakkiel Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 j.2D[m] 1st hit hasn't been an overhead since CS1. CS2 took it away when they made the 2nd hit +19 on block/hit. It's only +7 on block as of CP.
deadsnake Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 wait what? CS2? /insert CSe into ps3 so all this time was a lie.... :v even though it got me in every time I did it...... lol okay, thx sG
E3vE3 WAZ HEA Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I have to know if this is happening to anyone else, because it could be very useful. So after a j.d, dp >kote or anything that leaves you staffless, i sometimes do 4 winds to trap them. in some cases they run right at me to try and hit me while i'm still getting the attack ready. Here is the interesting part, somewhere during the animations, if they attack I go right through them and don't get hit. That's right, i go completely through it and punish them even though i should have gotten hit (you see the attack over lap her yet she gives no fucks and said she went through it). At first i thought i was imagining things but i think it has happened about 3 times now, and i think i saved one to go back and look at (have to find that replay) So i have to ask, has this happened to any of you guys?
Nakkiel Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 The animation of Shishin makes Litchi's hitbox move forward so if someone runs deep into and tries to hit you it can cause certain normals to whiff.
Wokker Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 So im landing corner 4D pretty often, but I don't really know a good combo after it. Anyone know a good 4D corner combo?
Nakkiel Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 4D[m] > 5[D] > Haku > Hatsu > ]D[ > Chun > 5B > 4B > ItsuuA > 4kote > 3C > 2D > 3C > Kanchan > (6D) Tsubame > 6C
Wokker Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 4D[m] > 5[D] > Haku > Hatsu > ]D[ > Chun > 5B > 4B > ItsuuA > 4kote > 3C > 2D > 3C > Kanchan > (6D) Tsubame > 6C Thank you~ 4D[m] > 5[D]? I'm confused... You activate the staff and hold it and release it at ]D[ in the combo.
Pen_Ninja Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Oh god... Somehow, even after re-typing what you said, I though you said 4B[m] > 5[D]... 4D[m] > 5[D] makes more sense since it like..... Works...
DaikenxDan Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 How do I go about pressuring my opponent with Litchi? pressuring with Litchi always seemed tricky to me. I don't know when it is a good time to put staff down. Also, how do I keep my pressure in sync with staff? That way when I do get a hit I can turn it into a full combo. Any amount of help on this will be greatly appreciated!
Nakkiel Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Just finished up editing Litchi's strategy section on the DL wiki. Give it a read if you're having gameplan issues. Feedback appreciated! http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Litchi_Faye_Ling_(BBCP)#Strategy
