Hey, how's it going everyone! I'm Boltazo and right off the bat I wanna say, I've been on dustloop for years lurking, and I've finally decided to join. Why? Well, I finally found a scene here in wee little Rhode Island! No one plays GG though :3 I'm gonna need you guys for P4A and BB though! anywho, I also joined dustloop cause I wanna step my game up, and meet some new people!

I've been playing Guilty Gear for years, casually, and it was always just with close friends that weren't too good. No one knew what Guilty Gear even was up here. After friends moved on, I stayed, and I'd be in training mode for hours on end. I followed all the updates and even went portable. I ended up playing every other fighter I could get my hands on, and having played guilty gear for so long, it was like a weight. Execution was never an issue with a new game. It's been a while since I've played GG, but I got it again on PSN and I've decided to stem out and try new characters.

Currently I'm learning Slayer, and as much as I love him and his bnbs, I really hate links. In any game. Any advice on how to link better?

And furthermore, I'm gonna get back into P4A. I mained Aigis but I really want to experiment with Labrys. No one here in RI plays GG as far as I know, and the online is poo. I'll get BBCP once that drops, and of course Xrd.

-------tl;dr----------

Hey what's up, I'm Boltazo. I'm a huge Guilty Gear fan and I've always put off registering. I'm from Rhode Island, so not much going on here, and I'm a PSN player, for P4A, BB, and GG. Nice to meet you all!

We don't do introduction threads.

Stuff that'll be of use to you:

New England thread

Rhode Island thread

Feel free to introduce yourself in one or both of those.

Slayer board

Aigis and Labrys boards

Any questions you have are best asked there.

As for links, there are a variety of techniques you can try to land them more consistently. Double-tapping is a common one for Slayer players, but nothing's going prevent you from having to learn proper timing. It always boils down to practice.

Oh, I saw other intro threads on this part. Sorry about that ^^;

Consistency is not one of our strong suits. ;P

Especially since you DID actually ask a question.

Sadly, of course, I have no idea. What is this 'Guilty Gear'? :P

People seem to be getting the idea the beginners section can be used for introduction threads as of lately lol. Ain't really your fault but yeah.

As far links go, there is no real way to get better at it other than practice. Just try to get an idea of when you're suppose to press the button at first, and after a while the timing will become muscle memory and\or second nature.

I suppose I should offer my generic 'link troubleshooting' advice as well.

If the move doesn't come out, you pushed the button too early.

If the move comes out, but doesn't combo, you pushed the button too late.

Otherwise, all the usual nonsense about combo repetitions in training mode applies.

Heh, good to see another Slayer fighter join the ring!

As for links I just mash the button and hope for the best when doing a link combo, because all my combos stem from dandy step follow-ups. Which is actually quite good, Slayer has very good air combos if your skilled with him.

Mashing kinda defeats the purpose of linking though. It won't link if you mash, as far as I know. I'm loving his BBU combos though

Lemme explain my mash techniques then;

let's say I'm doing 2K,2S,2D I press 2K, mid-animation I press 2S twice, in that animation I had 2D. it works like that somewhat. Works most of the time really.
