I think having multiple hosts set up to speed the process along would definitely help. It already takes alot of time setting up invites and making sure everyone gets in, so doing one whole round at a time with several hosts will definitely make everything go faster and you'll have alot less people getting bored or frustrated or impatient. If we have to have the players all in the chatroom anyway, doing this shouldn't be logistically difficult. From the time we started actually playing til I played my 3rd match it took 2 hours (and the matches themselves were usually no more than 2 minutes long). 2 hours out of my day, for no more than 10 minutes of actual playtime is kinda ridiculous. Mind, there were alot of connection and invite hiccups that contributed to that, but having multiple rooms should help regardless, since it'll be getting other matches out of the way while the remaining team figures it out. Connection problems seem to be the rule rather than the exception with this game, so having those kinds of contingencies in place should help, as well as clearly defined rules for particular scenarios (like in Shuffle, if only one player cannot play, how to proceed since there are 3 players left and only 2 can advance, for example).

On a personal note, I also disagree with Stage Random. Alot of stages are disadvantageous to alot of different units (depending on the stage). For a completely casual tournament I guess this point can be debated, but I don't feel its fair even in a casual tournament if its not a fair playing field all round, but again, this point is just my personal preference, so take that with a grain of salt.

The tournament just finished. Results have been added to the OP. Thanks to all the players for their time. And sorry for the delay, the tournament ran for almost 3 hours mostly due to room connection issues. But hey, we had fun and it's the most important thing !

I'll manage to get replay folders from 3 or 4 players to have access to all the matches. The whole tournament should be on Youtube in 2 weeks. You can also take a look at the bracket if you wanna see what happened.

I can already announce the 2nd Shuffle Tournament will be run friday 2/21 from 7PM PST/10PM EST. Hopefully, we'll have more players and we won't have too many issues :)

Could AirMaster, Kin-Man, Lostconfused and formerly send me their replay folders ? With them (and Alloy_Leos one), it should covers the whole tournament.

Fun tournament though took a little long too complete due to individual connections which isn't SetsunaYuki's fault.

IMO the winners from loser bracket should have a chance to fight the winners of the winner bracket again. They'd have to win 2 times (can be changed to match other format). 1 win to reset the bracket, and another to win the grand final.

You could also make a separate shuffle tournament with the winners decided by the total number of wins after playing a fixed amount of games.

I'm looking forward to the tournament after next (I can't join in the next one because I'm busy on Friday. I'd very much prefer the tourney to be on Sunday if possible).

BTW, do you know of a good filehosting site that I don't have to register so I can upload the replay files?

You could try Mediafire.

I'm taking your suggestions in consideration. I'll post the 2nd Shuffle Tournament thread tomorrow with updated rules and informations.
