dot_Nova Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I'm new to Potemkin what should i start off doing with him?? Learn moves, basic gatlings (challenge mode stuff) Then learn combos and get used to charging hammerfall all the time.
jak d ripr Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I'm new to Potemkin what should i start off doing with him?? Also, get the hang of comboing into his 2d, once you've gotten that down start learning some oki. Oh and practice the shit out of potemkin buster, practice it on both sides of the screen. Practice till you can hit it 90% of the time in training mode.
SynikaL Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I'm assuming you meant hammerfall break: Get used to either pressing H + P at the same time when doing Hammerfall break or plinking H ~ P. So like charge -> do a normal -> HF -> HFB with (H + P or H ~ P). If you meant the earliest hammerfall, you just need a feel for the time needed to charge it. You can input hammerfall at the 30th frame of charging (so half a second). Not sure how to practice that except by trying to do normals into hammerfall as pressure until you get used to timing it. Yeah, I meant the actual HF. Trying to learn 6K loops and I'm finding that my charge time in general is bad, so I'm starting there.
younghou Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 what are the option potemkin have to deal with backdashes? i read people do 2k (os) but work on everyone?. thanks in advance
jak d ripr Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 what are the option potemkin have to deal with backdashes? i read people do 2k (os) but work on everyone?. thanks in advance In general, I hear 6HS is the best option for punishing backdashes, especially if you, unlike me, can actually HFB the HS consistently. Against potemkin, sin, and slayer the timing is a lil weird, I'm still getting used to it, but in general I think that's the best option. I've been messing around with option selecting a f.s into my j.s, if they back dash they get caught and you can 2d into another knockdown, if they block the j.s you get a c.s and can start your shenanigans. I haven't tested this one out enough though so I'm not sure how clean it is yet.
dot_Nova Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 what are the option potemkin have to deal with backdashes? i read people do 2k (os) but work on everyone?. thanks in advance It's different against every character so you'll need to experiment a bit (I still have yet to test against every character) There is no universal catch, it's different depending on the cast. BUT like jak said, 6H with character specific timings will catch everyone on wakeup. 5H/f.S can also do the same. A delayed meaty 5K wil catch characters with short backdashes/hops that aren't very invincible(Faust, Sol, Millia etc). Against Slayer, when you jump in, 2K and 5H will hit him trying to BD on wakeup Mid Pressure: After HFB, f.S will clip people trying to BD out of pressure. 5K > 5H catches BD and jump 2P > 2S or 2P > 5H will catch BD and jump In the corner, 2P,2K > 6K will catch BD and jump
dot_Nova Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Yeah, I meant the actual HF. Trying to learn 6K loops and I'm finding that my charge time in general is bad, so I'm starting there. Be sure you started charging the instant after you input 6K. The time you should see the HFB come out is the same time you see the dust cloud come off the wall when they splat into it. I recently posted a small tutorial on 6K loop in the combo thread if you don't mind looking for it.
SynikaL Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I saw the guide, thanks. Does the loop work on everyone? I've been practicing against venom and haven't gotten one.
dot_Nova Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I saw the guide, thanks. Does the loop work on everyone? I've been practicing against venom and haven't gotten one. It works on everyone. The only things that change are the enders and starters of certain routes because of character hurtboxes/weights.
Red Star Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 https://youtu.be/Lh6Putl_fbk?t=4m39s Not sure if this was stated yet but it look like by this video that Potemkin's Heavenly Potemkin Buster did lose its full body invincibility in 1.1, probably only upper now(I think that change was in a loketest). At 4:41 you can see FAB's Potemkin get up and go into the startup animation of HPB but it gets interrupted by j.D from Konsome's Pot. If this is the case then HPB is even worse than its current form, which isn't all that great to begin with. 5:50 of the video shows how silly the mirror match is.
Circuitous Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 That invuln change is sadness. Also 5:50 isn't silly enough, they need to whiff Buster at each other at least 6 more times.

First time I've ever seen this before so I want to test it in 1.0 to see if the same thing happens. According to the wiki "Though it has invuln on the first frame, this invuln switches to upper body-only before it goes active, significantly reducing its value as an anti-air reversal. A sufficiently meaty attack can and will stop you." It didn't look meaty in the video so you might be right but it'd be good to see if the same situation happens in the current version before jumping to conclusions.
Circuitous Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 In 1.0 it's fully invuln 1-15 (12+1 startup), so it rarely loses to anything except at certain heights. Situations like that video just don't happen. The invuln was hit pretty severely. Not sure what's up with that description, the frame data doesn't support it at all. I've since removed that line.
dot_Nova Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Forgot to post after I tested it. I can't reproduce the situation in 1.0 so yeah you're right. They kept the invul nerf :V

Darlos9D Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Here's some new tech for you Potemkin players: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjqsyqCEFNQ uh... now how easily can that happen in a match? Does it happen when you catch somebody with ICPM on frame 1 of a blitz shield attempt?
Hollysmoke Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 uh... now how easily can that happen in a match? Does it happen when you catch somebody with ICPM on frame 1 of a blitz shield attempt? He's attempting to blitz on the first frame, gets displaced, then blitz goes off. Pulling this off in a real match is astronomically low, I just thought it was a funny bug to share.
Red Star Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 So Megafist will whiff standing Sin in the corner if he doesn't block. I don't think it will amount to much as Megafist is bad on block anyways and most people will react to it with blocking, but I find it odd and annoying that Potemkin's fists just go straight through him if he is just standing there. Can happen midscreen as well based on the spacing. Same goes for if Venom blocks low in the corner then Megafist will whiff him. If Venom is just crouching it will hit him so low you can combo 2P>2K>2D, but if he attempts to block then it just whiff. The spacing is assuming you are on top of him or at least with 5p range.

Not sure if it's universal but I believe it should be on everyone except /maybe/ May.
jak d ripr Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Some new gameplay featuring FAB, almost 2 hours of matches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCE92KhMkMw
pokerus12 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I know this seems random, but I think the Xrd patch is coming out tomorrow. Got it from a comment on some Hase matches. https://twitter.com/aksysgames/status/596353031534301184 And the video I found the comment on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuK0n8Nh6CY(They're Slayer matches, but what ever.) But any way, anyone think this info's legitimate?
jak d ripr Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I guess this is pretty much 100% confirmation http://www.twitter.com/aksysgames/status/596353031534301184. Talk about some on the low type shit, I'd already given up on getting this patch before evo.
This Man Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Has the patch arrived? Are these changes accurate? --> http://shoryuken.com/2015/02/13/arc-system-works-reveals-second-round-of-changes-for-guilty-gear-xrd-sign-update-set-to-launch-in-march/ The answer is definitely "No" for one of the above, but I don't know which :-/
