This has apparently been in the works for quite some time now, but I hadn't heard about it until I randomly came across the above gameplay trailer.  For a few minutes there, I thought it was an official game.  Quality looks nice.  (Though I can't figure out why they opted to use English voice samples over Japanese... Ease of accessibility, maybe?)

With so many fan games getting slammed with C&D orders in recent years, I hope this one continues to sail under the mainstream's radar for a bit longer.  I'd really like to see how far they can get with this.  Out of over 9,000 DBZ fighters (lol internet meme) on the market, it would be nice if we got at least one 2D installment that wasn't ass.

Well this isn't a project per se, if anything it is more like a proof of concept demo.

 

The assets will be released but it will never come together as one game, they aren't even sure how many characters they'll do after what's been shown (like Piccolo MIGHT be worked on after Majin Vegeta is done, and Android 16 is in the select screen but they're only intention was to have him as a spoof of the bonus car stage of SF2). Also they WANT to be noticed, particularly by Bamco with the hopes that they will see all the attention and love a product like this has and that some form of official partnership could form.

 

At the end of the day this is mostly just a nice treat for fans by fans.

 

although if they did make this into a full thing I'd like it to see Chi Chi since they picked the best timeline for her, and the one in Super DBZ was cool

If this project gets picked up by someone oficial then I would be very interested.But the chances seem to be very slim,and Bamco seems adamant about making shitty DBZ fighting games.

This game is bad on the account that it doesn't have at least one member of the Ginyu Force in it.

Despite that, I will give it a reluctant shot as everything else looks really, really cool.

The aspect ratio seems weird, but the gameplay is solid enough for a DBZ fighting game (at least it's not all charges and mexibeams). Will check it out when it's out.

She was actually the reason I bought Super DBZ lol

 

Now if only I could find information on how to play it ;3;
