Gorehound Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 This thread is dedicated to Litchi Faye-Ling (pronounced Lychee) and all the players who want to play as her. Post your Litchi info. Buttons Weak = A Medium = B Heavy = C Drive = D Here is some info on her Drive = Mantenbou (Manten Rod) Litchi's Drive is her Mantenbou (staff). When pressing D, she places her Mantenbou on the floor, pressing D again calls Mantenbou back causing one hit against the opponent who is near it. 5D~D = Mantenbou gets called back while going Diagonal Upwards toward the opponent 2D~D = Mantenbou gets called back while going on the floor. Jump+2D = Mantenbou gets placed downward on the floor while Litchi lands straight down. Jump+6D = Mantenbou gets placed Diagonal Downwards from the Air. Command Attacks With Mantenbou 6A = Overhead 6B = Forward Kick with Mantenbou 6C = Spins Mantenbou forward 3C = Spins Mantenbou on the floor to sweep opponent Without Mantenbou 6A = Overhead 6B = Forward Kick, if held down, she does a forward FAKE Kick. 6C = 2 Hit Overhead Specials With Mantenbou Straight Through 41236+D~A/B/C *It's a Johnny-like Mist Slash where she goes into a stance where her Mantenbou wraps around her and you immediately have to push an attack button to hit them with her Mantenbou. *It does 2 hits, the 2nd hit of A and C can drop or launch the opponent. *She has Auto-Guard when she is in her Mantenbou stance, last around 2 seconds. *After the 2nd Hit, the Mantenbou gets tossed and placed far away from Litchi. A = Upwards Hit B = Forward Hit C = Downward Hit 623+D *She launches her Mantenbou straight up and lands on the opponent if hit. This is one of her best moves, not only is it fast and does both hits, but you can add in an extra hit calling Mantenbou back. This move is the best move against rush characters. Without Mantenbou Three Dragons (White) 236+A Three Dragons (Green) 236+B Three Dragons (Red) 236+C *She can string all her moves in order on the ground, she can only string 236+B~236+C in the air. Mantenbou Placed on the Ground The Four Winds 41236+D *Calls Mantenbou back, but makes it spin like a Whirlwind doing multiple hits. 623+D 421+D *Makes her placed Mantenbou jump forward or backwards for better zoning. 63214+A *Litchi Jumps towards the placed Mantenbou standing on it. *236+A = makes her kick downward launching the opponent in the air slightly. *She can chain her 236+B~236+C while on standing on top of the Mantenbou. 63214+B *Litchi Jumps towards the placed Mantenbou doing a Pole Slide hit downward 63214+C *Litchi Jumps towards the placed and launches it Upwards. Supers 6428+C - Her Flame Pillar, heavy damage but the weird distance makes it a gamble to use. The Great Wheel 632146+D - (with Mantenbou) she throws a larger Mantenbou sweep distance, the Mantenbou spins, shoots straight up, and falls above your opponent. *The moment she actives it and when she is floating, you can control the direction where the Mantenbou shoots by pressing D and any direction at the same time, she can have it shoot as many times until she lands, similar to Milia's Special Orb Special Move. Thirteen Orphans 632146+D - (Mantenbou placed) She summons Punching Mantebou that stays in place slowly punching forward and does a spinning attack at the end, heavy damage. Some info -Litchi can double jump after doing a super jump. -She can't chain 2A into 2B with her Mantenbou on. -She can chain 2B into 6B, great for poking and 6B wall bounces opponent on counter hit. -If she does an attack where her Mantenbou is off her hands like 6C or 6A, she can do her Mantenbou-less Chain Specials for that quick second. -Litchi can chain a 623+D after her throw (B+C or 4+B+C) but you have to launch the special fast, she can connect it easier doing her back throw. Combos Here are some starter combos 2A 5B 5C 41236+D~C sj.B, j.C, dj. C 236+B~236+C
Silmerion Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Nice write-up, man. If I ever actually get the chance to play BlazBlue, this might just help me.
Deaths-Advocate Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 She sounds like she plays like Bridget with good reach and zoning capabilities. How is she on the defense?
Climhazzardous Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Regarding the auto-guard of her Matenbou stance; how long does it last, and which parts of her standing hitbox does it cover?
Goldenrody Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Some more combos: I believe this should correspond to the 1st combo in the Litchi combo clip post on the aksys bb site (corner) 5b5c(2hit) xx 41236d~c, j.b dj.bcdc land 6c(pick up staff) 623d 236b 236c This combo requires her to have the staff equipped The combo in Gorehound's first post should be the 2nd combo on the site And the 3rd combo seems like it's (No staff equipped) 5abc 2c 3c xx 236a 236b 236b Not too sure if these are exactly right Other additional info: Her normals change depending on whether she has the staff equipped or not If staff isn't equipped, her 6a is an overhead. It looks a lot like Jam 5h and Marilyn Sue's 5c(from Akatsuki Blitzkampf). I don't know if she can combo off of it She can combo off of her forward ground throw if she has her staff equipped by doing 623d. I don't know if she can follow this up with anything else. Off of the back ground throw, she seems to recover faster so she can just jump and hit the opponent with something in the air.
Overture Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I LOVE this character....love it >_<! Cant wait to play as her and Noel.
Gorehound Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 She sounds like she plays like Bridget with good reach and zoning capabilities. How is she on the defense? Yeah, she is definitely the Bridget of the game with a little Jam and Johnny tossed in there. She has pretty good defense, her 623+D and her 41236+D~A/B/C are her best defense moves. 623+D is great at destroying Jin, Ragna, Noel and Arakune since its so freaking fast and has great when the Mantenbou comes down. You are going to need this Special against Arakune and you are going to need to do her Whirlwind Mantenbou as well, trust me:keke: Regarding the auto-guard of her Matenbou stance; how long does it last, and which parts of her standing hitbox does it cover? It last like around 2 seconds before canceling and just close hits it counters. I even tried it on Jin's Ice Sword Projectile and it countered it as well. So far she counters standing and air attacks, I'm not really sure about crouching attacks though. Here is one thing I love to do with her: Do her 2D then 41236+D Whirlwind Mantenbou. Run along with the Whirlwind Mantenbou, it will protect you while it spins doing hits (the spin is covers a large portion), once it does the 4 or so hits, then combo doing her 2A 5B 5C 41236+D~C sj.B, j.C, dj. C 236+B~236+C Someone asked me before when calling Mantenbou back and if Litchi gets hit, does it still do a hit? No and Yes Calling back her Mantenbou while she is hit will not hit the opponent. BUT.... If you do her Whirlwind Mantenbou and Litchi gets hit, the Whirlwind Mantenbou will still hit the opponent
Climhazzardous Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 It last like around 2 seconds before canceling and just close hits it counters. I even tried it on Jin's Ice Sword Projectile and it countered it as well. So far she counters standing and air attacks, I'm not really sure about crouching attacks though. What do you mean by countering exactly? So, do you auto-guard the attack and then counter manually (with like, an A/B/C follow up), or does the stance automatically counter attacks during that time frame? Also, you're saying the stance just lasts for 2 seconds before she comes out of it right? Either way this sounds awesome though, thanks for the info good sir.

Sorry about that confusion, she Auto-Guards in her stance, so she won't do anything while in her stance when she Auto-Guards, but you can still press A/B/C after she Auto-Guard! Once it last around 2 Seconds and if you don't press A/B/C, she just goes back to her regular standing animation.
Climhazzardous Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Awesome. So what are the affects of her 41236D~A/B/C on hit? Does she get like a Johnny wallbounce or am I hoping for too much?
Gorehound Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Awesome. So what are the affects of her 41236D~A/B/C on hit? Does she get like a Johnny wallbounce or am I hoping for too much? It doesn't really do a Johnny wall bounce but here are the effects A = Upwards Hit *When Hit, it drops the Opponent on to the floor, I think I makes them bounce from the floor, I tried it once, looks like its mostly good against jumping opponents (Arakune ) B = Forward Hit *The second hit vacuums your opponent towards you. C = Downwards Hit *Ground attack, the 2nd Hit knocks and picks up your opponent in the Air, this is the one used for air combos. The 2nd hit of that special gives Litchi instant recovery, what I do if the opponent blocks both hits, I run close to them and throw them
kousaka Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 can you rapid cancel 6a overhead for a combo?

So youre saying if she calls mantebou back, she does and stance with autoguard? Its like Bridget just more awesome *0* I need to play her... I just hope it does as many air hits as Bridget. (or more)
Climhazzardous Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Sorry Gorehound, I'm gonna be pestering you with questions for quite a while :x It doesn't really do a Johnny wall bounce but here are the effects A = Upwards Hit *When Hit, it drops the Opponent on to the floor, I think I makes them bounce from the floor, I tried it once, looks like its mostly good against jumping opponents (Arakune ) B = Forward Hit *The second hit vacuums your opponent towards you. The 2nd hit of that special gives Litchi instant recovery, what I do if the opponent blocks both hits, I run close to them and throw them What are their affects on CH? Litchi's Drive is her Mantenbou (staff). Sorry I'm a bit confused here. Does the placement of her staff differ between 5D and 2D? So with '5D~D', is 5D the part where Litchi places her staff or when she calls it back? And what would the second D be? The way I understand it now, the 5D and 2D would be Litchi placing her staff, and the second D is her calling it back. If so, the animation of 5D and 2D must be different, but I'm having trouble seeing what the difference between them would be. Or is there no difference, meaning you're opponent wouldn't know if you did 2D or 5D? Without Mantenbou 236+A 236+B 236+C *She can string all her moves in order on the ground, she can only string 236+B~236+C in the air. Nice, she has Rekka's, never saw that coming 623+D 421+D *Makes her placed Mantenbou jump forward or backwards for better zoning. She wouldn't happen to be able to do this while on the stick (Faust style) would she? Or am I again being too hopeful? 214+A *Litchi Jumps towards the placed Mantenbou standing on it. I'm guessing you can regular jump on it too? *236+A = makes her kick downward launching the opponent in the air slightly. She can only do this while she's on the Mantenbou right? Or if she's not on it, does she actually jump toward the Matenbou and then do it? *Litchi Jumps towards the placed Mantenbou doing a Pole Slide hit downward 214+C *Litchi Jumps towards the placed and launches it Upwards. Again, I'm guess she can do this while on the pole as well? Supers 236236+C - Her Flame Pillar, heavy damage but the weird distance makes it a gamble to use. Weird? Funny hitbox or varied range? -If she does an attack where her Mantenbou is off her hands like 6C or 6A, she can do her Mantenbou-less Chain Specials for that quick second. Hold on, if I'm understanding this correctly, then that sounds friggin' awesome.

Again, I'm guess she can do this while on the pole as well? Weird? Funny hitbox or varied range? Hold on, if I'm understanding this correctly, then that sounds friggin' awesome. It's all good -It doesn't really have any effects on CH, still does the same type of hits. -Yeah, 5D~D pretty much is press D to place, press D to call back and make the hit. 5D makes it go upward and 2D makes shoot forward. The animation is different with 2D, it looks like she is sitting down when you do a 2D Mantenbou place. -Good question, I haven't tried doing a Mantenbou bounce with Litchi on top of it, and I haven't tried jumping off of it too, I'll check that out when I play her again. -Yeah, the flame pillar only comes out on a weird set place, kinda how Dizzy's Ground Ice Shard comes out only on a certain place. It does not hit if the opponent is close to you. -Yeah, for some reason if she does an attack where the Mantenbou is off her hands/body and it takes a second to come back, she can do her Mantenbou-less chain attacks. Example: if you do her 6A which does an overhead and slams the opponent to the floor, her Mantenbou is placed down for a quick second before it returns to her smoothly, within that quick second you can do her Chain Specials. Update: From looking at the vids. I now noticed an improvement in Litchi's 41236+D~A/B/C -It seems that even if the opponent blocks the 2nd hit, the Mantenbou no longer fly's away from Litchi, but returns to her safely, it flew away in the Test Version, now it doesn't. It still fly's away upon hit, but if blocked it just returns to Litchi It also looks like her Punching Mantenbou is now way faster to activate. I wish I could played at those streaming fight vids, I could of schooled them all with my characters:kitty:
Climhazzardous Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Thankies! I'll try and make out what I can from vids from now on, but you may get more questions :x
Diveman Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 When she has the mantenbou, does she has to be played like a poking/distance char? or is it still posible to be aggresive with the mantenbou equipped?
Gorehound Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 When she has the mantenbou, does she has to be played like a poking/distance char? or is it still posible to be aggresive with the mantenbou equipped? It's very possible to be aggressive with Mantenbou on, that's how you nail them with her Mantenbou equipped combos It's mostly her 2B and 6B that are used for poking, her C attacks look like then can be used for close hits.

Gorehound Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5325202 Litchi ending Thanks Now that is gorgeous artwork in her ending and the ending was long too
Overture Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5325202 Litchi ending My new Hero. Thanks, thanks! EDIT: Punching Mantebou follows the oponent O_O FUCK! FUUUUUUUUUUUCK! Im loving litchi more and more.
Bloodcrave Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 yeah litchi is definitely looking better and better XD edit: so after watching the ending, it seems like the whole story revolves around time travel or changing the past (at least that's the case for litchi) litchi's purpose i think is to make arakune return to his human form, and after defeating v-13 seems like she did went back to the past when arakune is still human (most probably is that "han-sensei" she was talking about)

Bloodcrave Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 yeah she's a sensei also (she's a doctor), but afterwards nearing the end litchi's telling her assistant to go to "han-sensei", that person i predict is most likely arakune
