ComboFish Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 'sup nerds, long time lurker here. I need some help with the Ultimax preload thingy. I preordered the game on PSN as soon as it was available, and today it says I can preload it. I did so, and it downloads the 12 gigs just fine and proceeds to automatically start the install. Problem is, it gets to about 15%, pops up a big ol' error message, and then quits out and leaves a 0kb file called "Corrupted Data" on my XMB. I've never preordered, let alone preloaded, something on the PSN store before, I dunno if problems like this are par for the course or what. I was gonna try and not let it automatically install until the game is actually out, but I just wanted some feedback before I download those damn twelve gigs for a third time. Thanks in advance, bros and brotatos.
Swiffle Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Also getting the corrupted data issue, hopefully it gets sorted out tomorrow.
Tokkan Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Did you try manually installing the game from the XMB after a background download?
Freki Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 This is a common PSN error happening to large PSN games (10gb+) at 14% when installing. I encountered it before with other games (you can try googling error number and find some info). You may want to check MTU setting in your console\router, but main solution seems to be to keep downloading and installing game till it works without error. I feel your pain.
Clamper Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 The same is happening to me and it never happened before. I've already downloaded it twice.
Yurushi Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Did the error number you received say 80029564? If so, this is the same error code I received when trying to download Chronophantasma back in April. You could try continuously downloading it again until it goes past 14%. Hopefully you won't have downloaded it eight times and still not be able to get it work like I did.
Swiffle Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Nope, only took five times, then finally installed properly. go figure.
Clamper Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Nope, only took five times, then finally installed properly. go figure. Did you download it 5 times or just tried to install the same file over and over?
Swiffle Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 downloaded 5 different times. tried to reinstall the same file a couple times, deleted the corrupt data and installer then redownloaded and tried again. checked router and network settings, but didn't end up changing anything. /confused
Yurushi Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I'm glad you could finally get your game installed. I was told to do a list of things that might be causing it to not install properly, and none of them worked. To this day I still don't know the cause.
ComboFish Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Well, I've tried redownloading five times (my poor bandwidth cap), and doing any number of fixes that supposedly worked for other people, but to no avail. I'm gonna try again once the game's actually out. So much for preloading.
Hitage Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 At first my download was corrupted and it wouldn't install. I deleted it, re-downloaded and installed and it worked
Clamper Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 downloaded 5 different times. tried to reinstall the same file a couple times, deleted the corrupt data and installer then redownloaded and tried again. checked router and network settings, but didn't end up changing anything. /confused Thanks for the clarification. I finally managed to install it after downloading for the 5th time. In case anyone is still having trouble what i did was i went to the game's page in PSN Store, clicked Download but never hit the "download in background" option, just let it download everything right from the store. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not but this worked for me.
Lucalibur Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Definitely coincidence, I've tried both normal and background download to no avail. Currently downloading the 5th time or so, and it's being a huge pain in the ass. Never buying a huge game off PSN again, really shitty service they've got.
Sashi Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 It takes like 10 hours for me to download it once. This is gonna take a while. ;_;
Lucalibur Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 It takes like 10 hours for me to download it once. This is gonna take a while. ;_; Same. This is becoming a test of patience and I'm losing it harder than when I deal with Teddie.
PhantomIndex Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Yeah, I'm having the same issue. I tried all the different ways of downloading (4 times) and now on my 5th time downloading. Wish me luck.
ComboFish Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Well, after eight downloads, all sorts of port forwarding and modem nonsense, file system recovery and database rebuilds, and waiting for the game to come out and negate the preload, I still don't have the game. So much for our all-digital future.
TD Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 this happened with my japanese version, the exact same issue. i'm not 'glad' it's happeneing to you guys at all, but I am glad I am not going crazy and this is an issue, even if it is the jp version and the na version. after trying it 16 times (thankfully only takes 2 hours to download for me), trying almost everything under the sun fromdownloading manually to background, to resetting the ps3 database and restoring the file system (seriously, at this point I was about to buy a new ps3, but doesn't seem like that will be necessary anymore), it -half- works. can literally only play one level os score attack mode or training on one specific stage. so the game is essentially a vegetable. the error code I got was 80010038. not sure what you guys got or if it is the same. internet tells me to repace the HDD. every other downloaded game still works. anyway, I wish you guys the best of luck, seriously. this is highly frustrating to pay for and it not work, but it is probably best to try to contact sony before anything else, considering my experience.
Clamper Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Yes i was already frustrated enough downloading it 5 times... i'd be nuts if it didn't end up working. They better start thinking about fixing this... because i'm having second thoughts about buying a digital copy of GGXRD. My error code was 80029564 though. One thing i forgot to mention is that i always use privoxy to download PS3 games since it makes it much faster. In case you guys wanna give it a shot:http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=34192
Yurushi Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I felt pretty disappointed trying to download BBCP back in April eight times just trying to get it to work. Each one took about 11 hours, and they all failed. I even had my refund rejected for BBCP because it was pre-ordered, but I really hope you all can fortunately download Ultimax without much more interference.
Fortune Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 On download number 6-7. I remember this happening in JP BBCP. I recall having to set it on safe mode and Restore File System *spoilers, didn't do shit* Shockingly, JP Ultimax took me exactly one time. *sigh*
ComboFish Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 Alright, I finally got the damn thing installed! I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but I installed it from the Account Management > Transaction Management > Download List menu option instead of from the store. It's about 27 hours late, but at least I can play the thing now.
Lucalibur Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I was able to make it work by resetting my PS3 connection on the menu. The game downloaded MUCH faster after that, and installing worked perfectly. It seems that the fastest you download the game, the better. Less chances of data getting fucked over on the way.
