NORCAL INSTALL! [Main Information and Ranbat Update Thread]
OrionXElite replied to Chun's topic in Archive
1st in Arcana was Lark, 1st in MB was YAT, 1st in GG was Magz. 2nd in AH3 was Brett, 2nd in GG was Rod. Thats all I got on that. I was so amazed that I didn't play David in tourney that I MM'd him and barely lost :3 -
He'd be broken beyond belief if he could do that. It already beats ANY super that isn't a grab or more than 5 quick hits. You could in theory 6A clash against the first 9 hits of Carl's Rhapsody of Memories before you'd have to do something to get out. Beat's Daifunka, Ashura, Carnage Scissors, Haku's Sword super, Hazama's Kick super, you can beat Makoto's Big Bang Smash on reaction. If she wakes up and she throw its from full screen thinking you'd hit a button, just sit idle and mash on 6A during the flash. You'll absorb the hit everytime. Beats MTW most of the time. Its such a good move to destroy someone being predictable. If it could Jump Cancel, it'd be retarded. We have 2C, thats already broken, 2 broken AA moves would make Valk even more silly:3

1st: Dacidbro(RG/BA/HK) 2nd: CopperDabbit(TG/AR) 3rd: Coopa(TG) 4th: OrionXElite(VK) 5th: Chun(LI) 5th: 2GB Combo(NO) 7th: ForeverWilly(AR/HZ) 7th: PheathonH(CA) 9th: RagnaHades(RG) 9th: BeaverDeity(LA) This is what I remember off the top of my head. -
Keep really really brutal pressure on him at the start. Get in his face and be absolutely ruthless. Ara has some answers but they're quite risky sometimes so you can afford to let loose a bit. I always play with one particular mindset against Ara. "Get cursed before Valk has 50 Heat and its over" It is an absolute must to save your Heat for Counter Assault as thats the only thing that will save you in curse. Make sure its CH too so you can get a little damage and heat back while draining a bit of his curse.

I use a nice tech trap I thought up and I have much better execution and all around much stronger gameplay. It would be a great reference for people still learning. Enjoy!

I can bring my TE for the 360 setup if you wanna have that one extra setup. might be good given the amount of stuff we have to get through this month -
[w] 5A > 5B > 236B > j.236B > j.236A > C > j.B x2 > 3C > j.A > Land 5D > 5B > Sturm (3.5k Damage, 28% MG, 22 Meter Required) [h] 5B > 5C > 236A > Rapid > 2C > 6B > 5C > 236C > 9D > j.A > j.236B > j.236A > 5C > j.B ×2 > 5B > j.DB > dj.B > j.C (3930 Damage) [h] CH 5C/ Crouching 5C > 236C > 9D > j.B > j.A > Land 5D > 2C > j.214B > D > j.236A > j.236B > C > j.B > j.A > Land 5D > 2C > j.B > dj.B > j.C (3.2k Damage, 44% MG, Guaranteed Corner Carry) [h] 2C > 6B > 5C > 236C > 9D > j.B > j.A > Land 5D > 2C > j.214B > D > j.236A > j.236B > C > j.B > j.A > Land 5D > 2C > j.DB> 3C > j.A > Land 5D > 5B > Sturm (6.1k Damage, 50 MG, Guaranteed Corner Carry) [h] 3C > 2C > 6C > 2C > 6B > 2C > j.214B > 2D > 236B > j.236B > j.236A > j.B x2 > 5B > j.B > 3C > j.A > Land 5D > 5B > Sturm (6.5k Damage, 50+ MG) IMO, these are the most vital combos to use as they're relatively simple execution wise and are for the most part, universal in terms of usage.

2C doesn't work?? Air-to-air you could probably beat it with a well spaced j.B>214B etc or just stomp on him with j.C
-
For the most part, yes. Challenge combos are great starting points and they can be modified in numerous ways as you get better. Get the basic challenges down pat then come back on here and either ask for variants or look up some other combos and try them out for yourself. But also don't be afraid to experiment in training mode. Valk is quite versatile once you get used to him. Side note: I believe challenge 9 was that god awful Command Grab Rapid Cancel combo. I wouldn't personally learn it since its extremely spacing dependent and quite annoying to pull off anywhere that isn't exactly midscreen.

You gotta mix it up every once in a while! Throw out a 5A>236A and they'll shit they're pants :3 Honestly though I can't stand playing Valk online. The lag ruins me to no end. Doing 236C>9D>[W]j.A on half the cast online(Especially Hazama...FUCK HAZAMA) is a nightmare. I adjust a little early, it fucking misses, I adjust a little later, I go flying over them. Sooooo I just get them to the corner and then do my 5C>6C blockstring over and over and over and over...Apparently its unbeatable :3

I'm gonna ask even though I'm gonna regret it, So assume a guy from Texas is on the fence about where to go, East or West. Now you bring up the idea of going to the East as a way of enriching the National scene by means melding cultures. Is that to say the same thing couldn't happen if said Texan came to the West???? You're giving off the assumption that WC is uncultured and primitive. Its the same likelihood a person from Texas could help fuse the National scene together if he went to West as opposed to East. Now please note, I'm not hating on Florida's scene or anything by those means. But you can't try to and talk about it like its a sales pitch. It isn't, its a decision based on what a traveling player would want. Chance at higher payout or chance at EVO seeding(Provided its an SF player). Why should players suffer consequences of losing respect or losing fans or any of that bullshit when they pick the option in their best interest?? Sadly, thats what the players have to do now who are on the fence. But they shouldn't be looked down on for they're choice by either side nor should they be subject to influence from outside sources. And please keep the "West coast has a huge ego" thing out of this. I do not wanna have to sit through another WC vs EC who is better argument again. Shit gets old really fast.

Uhhh...You can do that to anyone...I've been doing that since week 1. But if I hit someone with a wonky hitbox like Hazama or Hakumen, I just end it on the [W]5C>j.B>j.B and go for a reset. Also just to note, you CAN hit the [W]5B on Hazama. Go CH 5C>236C>9D>[W]j.A>j.B>j.A>Land>5B>etc. If you quickly hit the first j.A and gatling into j.B, you can link that into another j.A just before hitting the ground which you can then do [W]5B or D>5B/2C etc crap from there. Just pointing it out :3

Given how you have to pick it up, you won't get any really high damage unless you expend all your Wolf meter and even then, you'd top out like 5k at the most given the [W]236A has kinda shoddy proration. BUT, [W]236A CH is fantastic for heat gain. You can loop [W]5B>IAD>j.B>j.A a couple times and use almost no Wolf meter. If you wanted to avoid using Wolf Dashes at all costs, you won't get more than about 30 Meter. But if you use just one Wolf Cancel off of [H]j.214B, you can gain 47 Meter and still have half your Wolf gauge left :3 I came up with this just now: [W]CH 236A>Walk forward>5B>IAD>j.B>j.A>Land>5B>IAD>j.B>j.A>Land>D>[H]2C>5C>JC>j.B>j.214B>5D>[W]j.236A>j.236B>j.214A/B Gets you 3123 Damage but a huge 47 Meter without draining all Wolf. If you wanna save a little more meter but get less heat you can use: [W]CH 236A>Walk forward>5B>IAD>j.B>j.A>Land>5B>236B>Delayed j.236A>j.236B>j.214A Gets you ~2900 Damage and about 35 Meter. Only drains about 1/3 of your Wolf so its good if you're cutting it close on a reset. Also [W]5B>IAD>j.B>j.A is a much more reliable filler to link into [H]5B>Sturm Wolf AND the IAD serves as a Neutral Tech Trap if you so choose. They Neutral Tech and you'll end up underneath them which is the perfect spot to hit them with the Command Grab :3

I'll be sure to post the video on here when its up. Next time I'm seeing him is next weekend so it should be up soon :3

I'm gonna be making a video with the help of my friend who runs the BBVlog and make a Valk combo video for IPW's BB page. I have a combo that involves that exact occurrence. Its gonna be epic. I won't spoil the approach but the start is Konig Flug(2 hits) RC on CH to make it maximize float time. Simply put, if I recall correctly, the combo I do from it leads to 8k ending in a 2nd Konig Flug :3 Truly epic.
