  1. Focus Attack is pretty legit. But yea, when/where do you guys play? Hopefully this summer I'll actually play anime games with other people from NJ unlike last year :/
  2. Nuooooooo D: But yea, I should somehow at some point play with the Jersey crew. You guys have a thread right?
  3. Had a great time at ECT 4. Slightly disappointed by myself, but still had a great time. Shoutouts - SweetJohnnyCage: Thank you for ECT 4, I had a great time and I'm glad there are still tournaments out there that still support anime. Team St1ckBuG: Thank you for running anime on the east coast as usual, but I was sad that you guys barely got to play games. If you ever need help doing something, I'll be happy to help especially for things like the stream. Though I'm sad that none of pools were recorded :< LK: Good shit winning BB and Vsav, driving me back and forth from my house, and spoiling the end of Majora's Mask for me :< Oh and being free at AE SKD: Nice job getting 2nd in BB all while having a headache. MashThat5A: Sucks that you lost your stick :/ But it was fun playing casuals with you Lich: lol 6A. Fun times in the car, though never got to play casuals :/ Braver: Sad times (for me) when you knocked me out of first round and loser's finals of pools. Nice job KAERU: Thank you for showing me the Montreal TAMASHII when saving my cable. Sorry you had to go through that, but it was great we had a nice chat and got some casuals in. I hope to see you again at NEC Dacidbro: Nice to meet you, hope you had a great time on the east coast Cirno: Sorry for fucking up in teams ;__; If we team up again, I'll definitely do better. Litchi: for being top tier Oh and AkiraShiro, Stop being creepy and rubbing my hair when I fall asleep :<
  4. I've never actually been to the Rutger's trucks, but I have been to Hoagie Haven which has similar things... Wonder what the difference is.
  5. This seems like it's going to be an awesome event. I'm sad that I'm not any closer or I would definitely go =___=
  6. A friend and I are willing to stream anime games over at Power Up if you guys are ok with it. If not, then we'll at least record matches which should be pretty good in of itself.
  7. I would say that one thing that makes Blazblue feel slower paced would be the amount of time combos take. I know a personal friend of mine that has a really big issues with Blazblue because the combos in the game tend to last quite a while. Looking at GG for comparison, combos tend to end much more quickly and therefore returning back to a state that isn't just one person being comboed. Whereas in Blazblue, normal BNBs tend to last a good 10 seconds, whereas in GG they may last only 5-6 seconds. The only game that I can really think off the top of my head that actually has longer combos would be MvC3 cause that game is.... insane in many ways.
  8. 5b is a good poke with a decent hitbox, but there are times when 5b is too slow to be help. 5a is 6 frames which is pretty fast considering it hits both crouching and standing so it's pretty good for that. If you're out of range and you can't get a poke in fast enough, there are times where you just block or try and get out there. I personally think you can use 5a when you're up close and close enough to use it.
  9. Personally, it doesn't seem to have really any downsides to it, so I would say it's better. I haven't tested it out myself personally, but it seems just to be the same, if not better so it's something else to learn into muscle memory.
  10. @Raiza, it's alright in the videos your gamer tag is there. Also thanks to Biscuits, LK, Mynus, and Daiandoh for all commentating with me or soloing in the case of GG. Managing the recording setup is hard work =___= Thanks Daiandoh for letting us record the matches. They should be starting to be uploaded sometime tonight and hopefully sometime tomorrow they'll be completely done.
  11. BB and GG were recorded. I'll have them up soon. Shoutouts to 17 entrants in BB. Also I suck ;__; Also, are you going to post up the brackets?
  12. Something to keep in mind, I think it would be good to focus on a few concepts based on a match video. Don't try and analyze every single point of the match, otherwise it takes forever. As you can see above when Rokunaya explains the Warachia vs Nanaya match up in the video, he spends 40 minutes on one match. As a time frame, I think something like a 5 minute match should not go over 15-20 minutes max. Something like 10-15 minutes would probably be ideal though.
  13. I'm going to see if I can make it to Winter Brawl in February. Unfortunately the week right after Winter Brawl I have two tests so at least for me, I'm going to prepare ahead and (hopefully) study before that weekend so I don't have to cram for my tests. I agree with kirbster, it's really fun to go out to tournaments to find and meet people who share similar interests as you even if they live really far away. Especially with Blazblue and other "anime" games, meeting other people who actually play the same game as you is awesome and let's you learn about the people in the community and who helps run it (shout outs to Team St1ckBug).
  14. I wanna play this game more but over in Pittsburgh no one is willing to learn/play the game seriously ;___; So I end up playing a bunch of Marvel, SF and random amount of KOF most of the time. But something that's actually possible is at local gatherings and such, not only try to get people to play the game, but try and make it visible to other people either through recording matches or streaming those matches. Recording matches doesn't need to be something high tech, something as simple as a tripod and a camcorder can be used to get some decent matches. I know the AH3 matches at East Coast Throwdown 3 was done through this, and the quality is all too bad in all honesty. Just need to make sure people don't walk in front of the camcorder. If you want to capture directly, but not pay alot of money you can probably get something kinda cheap that only records composite cables. Keep in mind that you'll need splitters for the video and audio cables and such. I have some video when I used it for streaming so if you want to look at that for a bit, http://www.twitch.tv/superscience890/b/290158117 As for microphones, interestingly enough Rockband mics turn out to work pretty well for that kind of thing and are also pretty cheap. Yea.... This post turned out a little longer than I thought, but TL;DR - Another way to get this to public eye is recording matches and posting them, alerting Shoryuken, Dustloop, w/e to show the community is active. Also, let you level up with other people's input
  15. From what I know, you shouldn't need to log on to a different account to play a game from a different region. I don't have CSEX but with Arcana Heart 3, this was not necessary.
  16. I was trying to practice these combos in CS2 and was wondering why I couldn't get the j.4C loop down.... I'm assuming the change that they did to j.4C makes this combo not possible in CS2? Or am I just bad at execution ;__;
  17. Something that I was wondering, but say you don't have enough meter to end these combos into ashura. Would you just substitute one of the ending j.4C's in the end into j.C? Or is there a special way in FRKZ that leads to better oki?
  18. Indeed, it would be logical to take the option with a higher reward, but you need to look at the risk that's associated with that higher reward. Like say, you're waking up and you read that they're going to try and bait your DP with a block. You could counter this with various things, like say backdash away from pressure, just block and nothing really happens, go in and begin your pressure with say a 2a, or DP anyways and rapid it to start your pressure. The thing is what happens if you're wrong? If say they're actually just going to hit you with a normal, in the case that you backdash, you might be able to get away without having to deal with their pressure. If you block, you block their move, but are put under pressure. But if you 2a, you get counter hit and depending on who you're against and where you are on the screen, this could be really scary, or mediocre. But either way, you can be put into the exact same situation again where you're forced to try and read your opponent. If you DP and rapid it to begin pressure, this could work, unless they bait your DP outside of range which then they get a free counter hit combo which they can hit you as hard as they can. This is only one of the possibilities of course, and there's alot of other things that could have happened like it's possible they would catch your backdash with a move and hit you anyways and they get to hit you and get oki, but yea. Essentially there's the whole entire idea of what happens if your read is wrong that you need to keep in mind when you choose your counter option to a read.
  19. So I had a interview with LK on Friday for a class of mine. Thought I would put it up here. It was mainly for class, but there are some stuff that other people may find interesting. The first 30-40 minutes are about Japan and arcade and then it moves to Blazblue, and other fighitng games, and then at about an hour in, it derails hard. Keep in mind it's a very casual interview so it's not very formal, but it's there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g32qYhunCI
  20. When is your next vlog? I began watching it like a couple days ago and it's pretty interesting.
  21. There's also invisible text in Tager Style when you're viewing visitor messages. Makes me sad ;-;
  22. No don't worry I wouldn't have been able to at all >_< I can't input double half circles for my life. And only somewhat consistently on one side. Nothing to worry about haha xD
