i'm sorry for this because i know this is a serious thread and it's not for arguing, but i feel it needs to be addressed: you say the community in general needs to grow up, then act like you're more "mature" than the NYC and LI scenes? how about instead of alienating yourself and (potentially) other players, you try to talk to the people in those scenes and work out your differences? the very last thing the fighting game community needs is more segregation. east coast vs west coast, bb vs gg, anime vs...non anime? it's all stupid. this hobby is too niche for people to segregate themselves like this any more, and you're not helping things at all.

i remember someone suggesting this idea a while ago and while i thought it was a neat idea, it's probably not going to change much new players don't enter tournaments because they're just not interested, not because the tournament fee is insurmountably expensive. if we were talking about travel costs it would be a different matter, but then we're getting way too much into splitting money people pay among random people, and most people won't be for that at all

animeevo=blazblue, melty, ah3, guilty, catherine(?), and what else? making a new major sounds super neat. if you make it something for all the games that have side-tournaments at EVO but aren't a main event due to having not enough interest, then everyone who plays those games showing up together would be a pretty sizable turnout i think. of course i don't know shit about tournaments though, so feel free to shoot me down

the wallbounce had enough hitstun for astral to connect, but only if you were the right distance away ie close enough for wallbounce, but far enough so that them flying towards the wall gives you time for astral to get out
