DMV is more like D,M,V. We're missing that confluence point that we use to have from the old monthly C3 tournaments. We have Xanadu up in Baltimore MD, CFAS in Manassas VA, and something else in MD but on the wrong side of the Potomac. Neither CFAS or Xanadu is any bigger than the other to coalesce competition totally unto themselves. Everyone everywhere is doing their own thing. We clearly have enough people in the area to do a big thing, but people have too many options and all the little things stay little.
What the old C3 and the late DnB tournaments had was conveniences. Something along the west or north side of 495 + Metro access would win by default.
There's a place in/near Rockville called the Trenches. I think I remember them trying to do a Street Fighter night, but failing due to having no insider association. I wanna check it out sometime. If they're still around...
Dream Wizards could do a CFAS sized weekly thing, though not sure the scene would blend well with their current clientele? Also they close too damn early. Maybe I'll talk to them about why they stopped doing a Street Fighter night. Oh, wait, it overlapped with the DnB weeklies. Steve should of just got a job at Dream Wizards, except he knows nothing about white-man games
Can you imagine Steve as a Magic: The Gathering judge?
