4. So I'm thinking Xanadu again
5. you don't know he don't know yomi layer -2
6. wait, no. It shouln't matter because 5framers fit in the 5f tick protection. So I'm just screwing up my timing.
7. Johnny's midscreen meterless combo options so ass. Dan, check my frames. Pote 5P is -1 on block, -3 on IB. PBuster 3f startup, invul starts on frame 3. On IB, 5f moves will stuff 5P tick setups.
8. So slayer's new dandy followup being jump cancelable also means it's jump cancel cancelable
9. mega man board game kickstarter, licensed by capcom time to go to bed
10. gonna be a xanadu friday, for the union address or whatever the fuck
11. I'll just do what I usually do and learn other people's chars, so I can learn to beat you and teach you to beat me.
12. I didn't practice last night.
13. Don't tell me what you want, tell me what you do.
14. testament not in xrd
15. I was joking. Duckable 5P is kinda a big deal.
16. So I'm going to borrow from an old LoL video I stumbled upon about playstyles. It takes a lot of thoughts that I've had and assembles them into a nice triangle diagram. Passive / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ PassiveAggro PassiveBaitor / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ Aggro----AggroBaitor----Baitor
Aggressive -> Passive -> Baiting -> Aggressive PassiveBaiting -> PassiveAggressive -> AggressiveBaiting -> PassiveBaiting Novice players tend to play the primary styles. They go all in on a stance and get hard countered by the opposing stance. Next level are the mixed styles, smarter players use these. They're smarter cause they use all the primary styles well enough to combine them. (duh) The mixed styles are harder to read than the pure styles and aren't hard countered. Finally, you got the good player that combines all six styles and calls upon them to counter their opponent's style as needed. Ok, so now, styles are something that you don't want to own. You wanna be like Bruce Lee (be like watah) not held down by any style or paradigm. You want to have all the tools and use them as needed for the situation. Note I said situation, not player. Players don't gotta stick to a single style, that's obvious right? But good players will mask their current stance as another stance. Sometimes I might comment how a player doesn't mix it up. Now I'm not saying he/she doesn't use mixups, or doesn't mixup enough. I'm saying he/she got a small toolbox; a short menu. All about the pasta, but got no side salad. Lopsided, unbalanced, got a million ways to blow me up, but can't take the time to see my baits. Then the other side, Eli will often say that every round against me is different. Dunno if I'm a good player, but I'm pretty sure I'm a smart player. I am mixing my stances, and I am trying to counter my opponent's stance. Dunno how well I'm masking though. SF players tend to have a good understanding and balance of the three primary styles, as the SF games are heavily grounded in it. DP beats Throw; Throw beats Block; Block beats DP. Old Steve H anyone? GG has this at it's foundation, but to truely be good at GG you have to start mixing and masking your stances. Awaken Steve H? Not gonna try any GG examples, just food for thought. When trying to learn to read your opponent, it's much easier to simplify the problem down to the three primaries. And what some of us aren't doing or are having trouble doing is reading. So anyways, did unsatisfactory at NEC. My problems as always are focus, concentration, and motivation. Dunno what you all's problems are (actually I probably do) but our lack of player diversity is hurting me/us. We should keep ourselves open to new players, but that's not dependable. What we can do is pickup some side characters. Going hard on a main character was fine when the scene was a lot more active and we had multiple scenes (playstyles and attitudes) converging every month at C3. Remember when DMV, alone, had multiple scenes? Good times. Playing side chars will force a different mode of thinking; keep the mind fresh and flexible. And fighting other chars will be fun and interesting and help my motivation. Maybe I will practice. I found some meterless recoin combos off Johnny's shitty Low MF that sends people flying in the wrong direction. Gonna try to work some 1-hits in to them. Also, I'm thinking just keep our tournaments on PS3, why change now. But I'm going to be practicing on 360, since right now I need atleast training mode to be fun for me. Xrd, please.
17. Is there really that much of a difference between whiff 5P PotBuster and tick 5P PotBuster?
18. So final round is in march, so I'll think about that one. Fausting is a no go though
19. after hitting a dust, you can hold up to do the standard air pursuit, or you can hold forward to stay on the ground and get some HnK wall-slam combos going
20. Ya, I'm going to try to make MagFest. Probably best to just keep going with PS3 for our monthlies and such. But I'm practicing on 360, as that's funner for me.
21. talk to the admin I-95 closed, lol good thing we left
22. So now that NEC is done with, what's everyone think about switching to 360? Me and Sheraz are tired of dealing with PS3 speed. The 360 port matches/is closer to the correct speed. My only issue is what to do about the monthlies. With only one 360, I would not be a walking gg tourny. I would need people to bring their 360's. I think everyone either is dual modded or have 360 sticks, and we can just pitch in and buy Ian a converter. Or take Steve's, he's not using it, with the dog and all.
23. By chance has anyone notice if Sol still dodges low moves during his run animation when both his feet are in the air?
24. I mean react to a burst, RC whatever it is that you are doing, activate IK, then IK them in their burst recovery.
