  1. MvC3 has wave dashing. I hope they take it out before release, 'cause I'm tired of seeing all these fighting game developers with their supposed thought out designs and mechanics, only for a glitch or abuse to come along and the battle designer getting all elated over this wonderful emergent gameplay that total shits all over their intended designs.

  7. If you ever played SF4, the startup on all supers and ultras are backloaded. That is, the super freeze/flash happens at the very beginning of the startup. This is super aggravating when you perfectly read your opponent and your opponent even pressed the button, but the superfreeze of your own punish saved them and allowed them to block. Especially in SF4, where everyone pretty much exclusively uses fast jabs, requiring you to use good reads if you want to punish. No signals or other give aways on a counter move is always good. Though I don't know if this changes anything? I forget, did the superfreeze-buffer thing buffer normals? Or was it just specials and supers?

  15. I've got a few plans and visions, but my only true design decision is to keep it fun and accessible. I make sure to play the game a lot, and I've blocked my share of tigers. If something ever doesn't feel fun, I'll remove it. I believe that I can combine enough fun, accessibility and blocking for this game to be a huge melting pot of emergent gameplay. I strongly believe that all good stories have a conflict, and that all good games tell a good story regardless of if it's pre-written or emergent. Free blocking mode is fine and dandy, but for many people it will ultimately become boring once you've got it figured out. It's like playing a first person shooter in god mode, or giving yourself infinite funds in a strategy game.. a lack of challenge kills the fun. For survival mode, I'd rather make the game too difficult than too easy. That also means I'm going to have to include some way of winning the game (or some other climax) to prevent it becoming too exhausting. But if it's no fun, I'll redesign.

  17. I think, at the moment, unless you are a part of the 4chan hivemind, the game has no point. The author matches your sentiments. I'm sure he's wtf'ing over the popularity of his own game. Clearly if you want your product to be successful, you need to tap in to the 4chan demographic. (and never ever betray them)
