  1. Well, if people are interested, we need to talk about format. How much should the entry fee be? Winner take all? 70/20/10 split? Winner take all but 2nd place reimbursed for entry fee? Double elim or single elim? Waseda format or Pokemon style?
  2. Yeah, Eric was there with his long hair and glasses. A lot of matches were recorded by PhaethonH and should be out within 1-2 weeks. Oddly enough, a lot of earlier matches were a lot more hype than top 3. Also, I was thinking of running 2v2 team tournaments every month (two weeks after singles, so we'd have a team tournament every two weeks) if there was any interest. My only issue would be being able to make it out there twice a month aside from once a month because of gas.
  3. Tournament was fun. We had 16. Fred has the brackets so he has full results. 1st - Goryus 2nd - CopperDabbit 3rd - 2GBCombo 4th - Willie 5th - TaoFTW 5th - Spirit Juice 7th - TheJew 7th - ??? That's all I remember.
  4. Oh god being and Vegas and being 15... at least when you're 18 you don't have to worry about parents babysitting you or something.
  5. Yes, Evo 2k8 was the year a lot of players didn't go to Evo because it wasn't an official tournament. BIG mistake on their part since if everyone that was serious about GG went, we would've had bigger numbers than FR did that year. GGAC was as big as it ever was that year, and the community decided to shoot itself in the foot by not going. What I found hilarious about the whole thing was that it was a side tournament, but why wouldn't people come? Was it just because it was labeled as a side tournament? What, does the game have to be labeled as a main tournament in order to be worthy of attending the event? It couldn't have been the prize pot since Evo was running a split pot just like FR was. So what does that leave? The game has to be on a projector screen or something to be worthy of attending? Give me a break. Just thinking about it made me mad. Myself, and others, put a lot of effort and energy into trying to make GGAC a huge side tournament at Evo. We were confident given FR's numbers that we'd get more than 128 people in the tournament. The result? A disappointing, bitter-sweet success. It was a success in the fact that GG returned to Evo in 2k9, but I believe we got around 80 people that entered the tournament (mostly WC). If the community that was serious about the game like they claim to be actually came, we would have easily smashed FR's numbers. Unfortunately, the community shot itself in the foot again. Now we all stand around wondering why the game is dying, why it isn't even on the voting list for Evo this year but a completely dead game like CvS2 is. I'll tell you why. The community sucks. It always has and always will. We're not the SF community. We're not the MvC2 community. We don't have the drive to support ourselves or the community and it's only getting worse. After Evo 2k8, we got GGAC at Evo 2k9 again. It was said it was going to be the last GG at Evo and what happened? The community failed to deliver... AGAIN. The numbers were underwhelming again (a lot of communities didn't show up... AGAIN), and the finals were very unhype. Some people in the community have said how much they care about the game, but the community itself has not shown that they care about the game. At this point, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that GG isn't even being considered for Evo this year.
  6. Think of it this way. If MvC2 had a "whites only" tournament, wouldn't that be degrading to white people since we all know white people blow donkey dick at Marvel?
  7. Problem is that I seriously doubt MBAA would get 80-100 people. We know how EC Anime doesn't like to travel to WC. NEC had 60 players, and 95% of them were from EC; I doubt all those players would even come to Evo.
  8. What wuku means is that he was extremely disappointed that the girls there came with their boyfriends and did not come to play FGs.
  9. ^not worth the meter.
  10. I don't know why you're assuming they're going to be hot. :8/: Just so you guys know, the Femme Fatale tournament didn't take up any game spots. It's a side tournament, aka the 7th event at Evo. No GG at Evo made sense and I agree with their decision.
  11. SBX at Tougeki = time to eat. You could probably take a two hour nap in top 8 and still wake up in time for grand finals. Why they chose SBX, a dead, horrible, boring game, as part of the line up is beyond me.
  12. Of course people will run GG as a side tournament.
  13. Personally I think it'll just irritate Mr Wizard if people push too hard. Just be tactful how you present your support or yourself.
  14. You're an idiot for assuming that Wizard already isn't in contact with Aksys about all of this. Logically, BB is going to be at Evo and BBCT is just the placeholder. If the port comes out in time for BBCS, it'll likely be there instead of BBCT. Use your brain. Derpa derp.
  15. If you're over 21, I'd say Evo is worth it so long as you have a bunch of friends to hang out with. Evo is so damn awesome if you just cut loose and have as much fun as possible.
  16. Oh yeah, I forgot about food and shopping. Playing games at Evo is overrated.
  17. Who plays games at Evo? It's all about getting drunk, gambling, and checking out Las Vegas. Regardless, I'll be there.
  18. I'll be there, derp. Fred, you should totally send me the brackets you use so I can print them or something.
  19. Hazama CAN be hit with OTG 3C, but the timing is very strict. It's probably not worth going for in most cases.
  20. Character and range/height specific.
  21. One of these days I'll cum over, Mike. <3
  22. 3C will never OTG hit Carl, Nu, Noel, and I think Tager.
  23. It's okay, Tron. We'll hang out sometime in the future... but we have to make sure there are ladies present!
  24. Lambda is fine, so I'm not sure why Nu players would not enter a CS tournament. :o
