Plus we know that there's only 1 character in game that likes Noel's cooking. therefore, mai= kazuma. qed.

yes I wouldn't mind playing as nine, her magic does sound pretty neat actually. I do hope caelica's playable however, just so that I can beat the cliche out of her. she's so annoyingly mary sue it's amazing how the Japanese people can actually stand her.

kazuma. Kazuma sorta told caelica in phase shift 1 to hunt for her dad. That's probably the reason for the wolves in sheep's clothing warning Nine is violent, prideful, a tsundere and a siscon. If you think this is bad, then the later chapters are going to be quite, quite awful.

Yes, she still has the tsukuyomi unit. The master units all belonged to the Alucard family originally. When she says observer, it might be referring to how she can only watch proceedings and not interfere with them directly.

I'd just like to say the localisation, especially Ragna and valkenhayn, feels off. Especially in the choice of dialogue and voice direction. It seems such a huge leap from cs to extend, it's like the person in charge never played ct and cs before sitting down to do extend.

Proper summary time! As mentioned before, this book has 190 pages, much shorter than it's predecessors. Prologue 1-Flowering White Blade 2-Theory of the Violet Ones 3-Doll of Scarlet Protection 4-Recollection of Madness (There's a bit of wordplay here. 藍心想起(ranshinsouki) loosely translates to "recollection of a blue heart", but 藍心 itself is not an actual word. 乱心(ranshin) means madness. It makes sense in context though) 5-Second Coming of the Black Beast Prologue is Jin's true end from CT. Book starts off with Nine in Ishana, reminiscing about Ragna and his warning to her about the black beast and Terumi (from Phase 0.) The 6 heroes have gathered in Ishana for a conference, and Hakumen is late. Nine explains to Trinity about Armagus and grimoires. The process couldn't have been done with Terumi's help, his knowledge was invaluable. Terumi's under mind eater, but it seems limited to obedience to nine's commands. He still insults and passes snarky comments at Tine. Caelica is outside, remembering Ragna. She bumps into Hakumen, and when she mentions Ragna's name, it triggers his memory and he wonders how can Ragna be stuck in this period. Then haku has a flashback to when he was first brought to the Alucard castle. Apparently his trip through the boundary has stripped him of his memories. Clavis remarks that his will is very strong, anyone who passes through the boundary usually ends up with their mind broken. He then tells him to rest and that his destiny is not yet over. End of flashback, haku comes around to Caelica calling him. They both head inside to meet up with nine. Nine's very happy to see Caelica, but she's pissed that haku's late, and Caelica steps in to defend him. Trinity brings out some tea so that everyone can settle down. Terumi makes some snide remark that makes Nine want to kill him, and Caelica has to step in again to stop her. Seven and Eight then show up. They want to speak to Nine in private, so Nine tells Trinity to grab the rest and go first, but Seven and Eight want Caelica to stay behind too. Nine initially refuses, but grudgingly relents after Caelica herself insists she does. Seven and Eight want Nine to stop development on the casualty weapons, and use Kushinada's Lynchpin to stop the Black Beast. Nine blows them off, and drags Caelica away with her. The 2 sisters then meet up with the other 5 at a coffee shop for some tea. Nine goes tsundere for Jubei here. Trinity actually almost calls terumi "kazuma", but catches herself in time. All of them have a good time (yes, somehow terumi doesn't manage to piss nine off here.) Scene switches to Seven and Eight, who discuss how "that" won't work unless they have Caelica. Scene switches back to the 6 heroes, and Nine and Valk have a discussion on Terumi, Mind Eater, and how they cannot kill him yet. Nine brings Caelica to meet Nirvana, who she says will protect Caelica since Ragna isn't around anymore. Seven and Eight meet Caelica, and Seven asks that Caelica co-operate with their research to defeat the Black Beast. Caelica doubts their research, but Seven assures her that their research won't kill her, and that it'll save lives. Caelica ultimately refuses, and leaves them. Seven and Eight go deliver their report to the Librarium (This is the organisation before they become the NOL). Full flashback into how Jin becomes Hakumen, he can remember Ragna and Tsubaki now, but his body is basically failing him, so Clavis brings him down into the basement where he tells Jin about the Master Units. There are 3 of them, but only the Susanoo unit is around now. Jin decides to wear the armour. At the end of the flashback, the 6 heroes are gathered near the cauldron, because the 1 year is nearly up, and the Black Bleast will appear soon. Nine tells Caelica to stay bacl, then Rachel teleports in, surprising Valk, and tells Caelica that "his" (Ragna) soul is sleeping within the Black Beast. Naturally Caelica suddenly wants to be on the frontline, just to meet Ragna again. She says she'll be the bait to draw the Black Beast out. Eventually Nine relents, and they all go prepare for the fight. Caelica draws out the Black Beast, but then suddenly a magic circle appears under her. Trinity shouts to Nine, but they can only watch the circle teleports Caelica away as Nine sees the silhouette of Seven and Eight. Caelica is in some weird place which drains her magic. She eventually black out. In desperation Nine summons take-mikazuchi to blast the Black Beast, and runs to rescue Caelica, who has re-appeared. Trinity wonders if the Black Beast is gone, but Nine says that it only retreated. Hakumen asks what did she use to drive away the black beast, and she tells him "Nox Nyctores: Highlander Take-Mikazuchi". The book then notes that this was the turning point in the war against the Black Beast. Then Terumi ends the book by thanking Nine for being a genius, now he can obtain what he wants a lot faster. He then laughs. The end.

Actually, I don't recall phase shift 1 ever mentioning a mirror. So uh, kazuma might have no idea how he looked like, (and so seeing terumi wouldn't really freak him out... I guess?) and tomonori might have attacked him just because of his resemblance to terumi. But this is just speculation on my part, memory's a bit hazy. I'll go back and read phase shift 1 if I ever get the time. P.S I thought the girl in phase shift 2 was rachel. EDIT: to the person asking about learning Japanese, I took a class for about a year. Which is sufficient for reading the novels. Reading quickly and translating on the other hand, you'll probably need more than a year. I have a chinese background, so that helps alot when it comes to kanji and stuff

It's Kushinada's lynchpin. It's meant to be powered by Caelica (and would have killed her), and as of phase 0 it was in Shuuichirou's old lab.

i always believed terumi and kazuma were seperated. My theory goes a little like this: terumi is a ball of hatred, and kazuma is basically what's leftover. it would explain why kazuma's always so distant and emotionless, because terumi is the 'emotion' aspect of kazuma. kazuma by himself is basically terumi without all the malice, right down to the boiled egg fascination. that's why kazuma can fight tomonori, he has terumi's skills, but just lacks the intent. when terumi forcibly takes over kazuma, it is at a point when kazuma has already undergone emotional stress (fear, anger, etc etc) in short, terumi can't possess/affect someone who's dead emotionally. that's why he puts kazuma into dangerous situations or affecting his mental state. he couldn't go back into kazuma until very late in the novel. i agree the novel is mostly about terumi seducing kazuma, but i think terumi and kazuma are distinct and seperate, rather than terumi being a figment of kazuma's imagination. (i think that's what you're trying to say at least? correct me if i'm wrong)

Just gonna add on to what michi wrote. kazuma and teruumi share the same body during the fight with tomonori, but as it progresses terumi takes over it until he becomes the dominant personality. After kazuma says " i understand now. I understand everything now. I've finally gotten back these 6 years..." and then he(terumi) starts laughing that hyahaha laugh. The body is still refered to as kazuma all the way till the last part of the 4th subchapter of chapter 6, where it's written kazuma but the furigana becomes terumi. Tomonori doesn't really shine... seems that's the fate of all cat beastkins prior to the dark war. - -' His sword is pretty nifty though. Kazuma/terumi fear it because it can cut the intangible; i.e he hits kazuma, terumi dies. This may also be a partial trigger for terumi to take over kazuma's body. So, they fight, kazuma/terumi wins, trolls the corpse of tomonori a bit, then rachel and valk teleport in. kazuma recognises him, then realises that it's actually someone from Terumi's memories. Valk oneshots kazuma/terumi, and i think they take tomonori's body back. Then I stopped reading. Hope this helps somewhat. EDIT: there's lots of horrible innuendo in there. maybe unintentionally, but when stuff like kazuma: " -ah, I'm coming" terumi: "yes, please come" occurs... (it makes sense in context)

Thanks guys. I know it's only a minority that steal stuff, but it still annoys me to no end. I'm still translating, just not posting. My current goal is to finish translating Phase 0 before Phase Shift 1 comes out.

This is the epilogue of Phase 0. i'm sorry for posting out of sequence, but it was about 70% done, so I decided to finish it up. If you want to host the translations or use them as a base to translate into other languages, at least have the courtesy to ask me beforehand. This is one of the reasons why I'm not posting phase 0 for the forseeable future. I'm a little peeved at people who do so. So far only blade, aegis high, and shinso have asked me. Really, how hard can it be to pm?

Epilogue: In that time, the figure of the black beast unexpectedly vanished. It disappeared for a period of exactly one year, in which time humanity rebuilt their destroyed lives, as well as created and stockpiled many forms of weapons in the event the black beast appeared again. The biggest development amongst those was the creation of “armagus”. Under the guidance of the girl from the Mage's Association, Nine, her work allowed people to handle and improve magic, culminating in the ubiquitous usage of armagus. One year after the halt of the black beast's activity, the black beast reappeared in the world. However thanks to armagus, for the first time humanity was able to succeed in driving the black beast back. And then 2110 AD. By the hands of six warriors, the black beast is finally destroyed. Several years after the black beast's destruction passed. The days, months, and years of peace have been reclaimed. From the withered vegetation tiny shoots and buds grew, and the rain had started to soak a little into the dry riverbeds. The sky was blue, the sunlight white. Wet from the morning drizzle, the trees in the forests were gleaming with a sparkle. Not far from the sun-kissed forest, there was a tiny little church. Located at the end of a gentle path, it looked as if it was a secret hideout, as if it were straight out of some fairy tale. From the back of the church, a solitary young girl emerged holding a basket full of fresh laundry. The colour of her brown hair closely resembled the damp earth, as well as the colour of her large eyes. Her long hair was tied up into a bundle. From her simple black and white uniform, you could see that she was working at this church as a sister. She was hanging a white sheet on a laundry pole constructed outside the building. As if her good mood was due to the clear weather, the expression on her face was also naturally bright. “Caelica!” Suddenly, a familiar voice could be heard from the road leading to the church. Caelica quickly arranged the sheets on the pole, and rushed out to the front of the church. Standing there was her older sister Nine, as beautiful as ever, and near her was her brother-in-law to be, the beastkin Mitsuyoshi. “You know, the day your sister says she's coming to visit and you choose to do the laundry?” A small garden... although she called it that, from where they were standing at the front entrance the opposite end was not visible. While glancing slightly at the garden Nine expressed her incredulity. Standing next to her, Mitsuyoshi let out a merry laugh. Over his injured right eye he had placed his sword's guard as an eyepatch. “It looks like you've gotten used to living at the church now. I must confess at first, the thought of ya living in such a remote area worried me to no end” “Yup, when I entered the forest I was able to gather a surprisingly large harvest of fruits, and since there's nothing around I was thinking starting a small farm would be a good idea.” Located far away from any city, and also requiring a considerable amount of time to travel to the nearest village, to say that this was the ideal place to construct a church would be very, very wrong indeed. However this was no ordinary place. Many years ago, The Six Heroes, as they were called now, defeated the black beast here. And at the site itself, Caelica enlisted the aid of her sister and Mitsuyoshi to construct a small church. “... Say. Whatever it is you're doing now, nothing will come from it you know?” While staring at the tranquil scenery which bellied it's location as the site of the black beast defeat, Nine vacantly spoke. After the destruction of the black beast, as if it's presence had been some sort of lie plants had started budding from the ground. Nine and her best friend Trinity had investigated, and it seemed to have been caused by the high density of sethir from the black beast's body. Many people had refused to go near this eerie place, and as a result the forest now covered the surrounding land. At her sister's question, Caelica smiled while shaking her head. “I'm not doing this because I feel obliged to. It's because I want to that I'm doing it.” “But, you should think about having a more normal happiness. Like working at that Organisation that manages Grimoires, or even getting married.” “Nope, I thought about various things alot.” A refreshing breeze was blowing. Caelica glanced upwind. It was such a nice day. “I guess in the end, I want to wait after all. Because I made a promise.” Even if it took years from now. Even if it took decades from now. “I want to meet Ragna once more.” And then something strange happened, Caelica had the premonition that someday, somewhere, they would meet once again. Whether that was just a chance, an extraordinary tale set far off in the distant future, she didn't know. But when that time came, she would return the huge sword and carefully washed jacket to him. I'll come back for them, Ragna had said. “... Is it hard on you?” Mitsuyoshi's voice was as soft as the breeze but carried a certain seriousness with it. The voice which inquired was stained with the guilt of being unable to to bring back the person Caelica was waiting for. So to wipe it away, Caelica smiled a smile from the bottom of her heart. “No, I'm actually happy. Sis and Mitsuyoshi-san... that's not right, you go by Jubei-san now. It's because everyone defeated the black beast that I can leisurely do the laundry like this, and wait for Ragna to return.” She had repeated this response of hers several times now. No matter how many times she had seen her sister her opinion had never wavered once, and she had always repeated that waiting was her “happiness” with a smile on her lie-free face. At her sister's personality, Nine and Mitsuyoshi could only look at each other and give a wry smile. “Well, that's fine. Actually, we came today to discuss something with you.” Her hands on her hips, Nine changed the topic while shaking her head in defeat. Caelica's expression brightened up. “Ah, that's right. So... what is it you wish to discuss?” At the question, Nine mischievously smiled. At the same time for some reason Mitsuyoshi was blushing and staring off into the distance. “The truth is, for our wedding, we wanted to hold it here.” “Eh!? He, here!? Are you sure it's ok?” Her eyes widening in surprise Caelica's cheeks became flushed with her excitement. Nine giggled. “Of course. I mean, would you let us?” “Ahaha, I see. Well then, we need to quickly discuss about the preparations needed.” “I leave myself in your hands.” Looking at the thrilled figures of both sisters, an embarrassed Mitsuyoshi scratched his nose. His long tail waved about. Nine had said that his tail was his biggest charm point. “Ah, that's right. Come on in. Trinity-san sent me some herbal tea so we can all drink it now.” In a good mood, Caelica opened the church's modest doors, and ushered the future bride and groom into her home. If Ragna heard about this, what would his surprised face look like? Imagining it gave her a warm feeling in her chest. Mild sunlight, lively conversation, and a refreshing breeze. In the midst of the gentle peace, Caelica smiled. — The darkness was howling with laughing. A mouth shaped like a crescent moon, sneering. “ This farce is finally over... Now then, I think it's about time to unleash despair! Hya—hahahaha!”

no, not really. The lack of furigana is what's causing the problem. What you hear may be correct; what the word is intended to sound like, not how it's actually pronounced, so going with hearing is more reliable than looking at the kanji
