Interesting... when I do the H fish after icespike knockdown, then airdash > j.H, opponent is still in blockstun when I land. I guess I'd have to see a video
-
Hm never that happen to me before, when are you throwing out the j.H, shortly after the airdash or as you're landing? Is the airthrow window after the active frames of your j.H (by crouching and causing j.H to whiff) and before the laser comes out?
-
Amen on the godlike oki. I went through a large chunk of the AC+R videos posted here and it's amazing what the new K fish allows you to do. Those extra active frames really give you a plethora of new mixup options! Also, 2k > 5H and 5H > 2D is so huge. 236D and 421D are game changers. 2k 80% proration is actually pretty huge as well, I used to just focus on knockdown when starting with 2k, now I can extend those combos. j.2S 90% prorate I actually agree with, it was needed considering you can IAD a lot of the cast on crouch. Any great uses for D fish?

What exactly makes her S tier all of a sudden?

So I stayed up late into the night figuring out whether slashbacking the ACSE was a viable option. It turns out that YES, it's not too hard and after an hour of practice I was able to do it successfully about 70% of the time. If you're willing to put the time in I see this as a game changer if your opponent uses ASCE okizeme all the time. A few tips for pulling this off: Standing block vs. crouching block have different rhythms. If you're standing, the 3 hits hit you at a much slower and uneven rate (pause between 1st and 2nd hit much greater than the pause between 2nd and 3rd hit). If you're crouching, the 3 hits hit you at a much faster BUT ALSO much more even/predictable rate. As with all slashbacks, you want to slashback the last hit so your opponent won't be able to react. If you slashback the 2nd and 3rd hits, your opponent may see it coming. Block at least the first hit in a crouching position, for 2 reasons: As long as you block the first hit in crouching position, even if you stand for the 2nd and 3rd they will still hit you at the same fast rate, so it will be easier to time your slashback. Since they hit you much faster, you'll be able to slashback the last hit much faster, giving you more time to punish/escape. [*]The timing of the slashback is such that you hit S+HS immediately after the 2nd hit registers. The 3rd hit comes really quick so you'll need to be sure you slashback early enough. Once you get the timing down and can successfully slashback that last hit, a good followup is either backdash, jump, or TK bubble (harder, and riskier if he follows up ASCE with S or 6P instead of going low). However be wary about punishing, on his whiff he'll still have time to block your punish attempt. EDIT: If he always follows up with a low 2K, you could try dashing forward as a followup and then when his 2K whiffs, just grab him. Haven't tested yet. I'm finding that this slashback timing is a lot easier than his other blockstrings, since with those you have to look carefully to see which normals he's using, and work hard at predicting what will come next (the only one I can slashback on reaction would be 6H). With ACSE Okizeme you know that it is coming, so it's just a matter of timing, no predictions needed at all. His ground CSE is also a viable slashback opportunity.

Nevermind, please do not take my advice on backdashing acse, it only dodges it initially but on your landing you'll get hit by all 3 se's

http://youtu.be/-AVknCaBRkA?t=7s Sometimes he does an air charged stun edge too high off the ground, or just a bit too far away, or just a bit too late, you can try a wakeup backdash in these cases. Most of the time you will either succeed or just block on wakeup so almost no risk.

You're handling him just fine, I see a lot of good responses you have on defense. Right now he has a slight advantage but just a few suggestions will give you the advantage: - Try using f.S into icespike whenever he is airborne. Not using f.S will always let him have a free tech, and Dizzy needs those knockdowns. I see you using a lot of 5H > icespike. - After you throw, try using dash > 2K > f.S > icespike. You're using 2P and it gives him a chance to tech out either before icespike, or after icespike (I see lots of opportunities for him to tech that he didn't take) - After you combo into icespike, you summon laser fish and airdash in with a j.S . Try using a j.H, I think you'll like it better. - You can backdash out of a lot of the midscreen okizeme he's using on wakeup (you're lucky he's not doing mixup okizeme!) Just these minor changes will give you a lot higher win ratio vs. his Ky

Tips transitioning from controller to arcade stick
bizarro replied to anthony001's topic in Guilty Gear General
Yeah looking at the design of the Hitbox I'm confused as to why they put the left-hand buttons so close to the right-hand buttons. I guess one way to test if this kind of setup would work is to test it out on a keyboard, WASD, except instead of using W for up, replace with Spacebar. -

Does anybody own a Hitbox? Or tried using one? Link for those who never heard of a Hitbox (it's basically an arcade stick that replaces the stick with 4 buttons, kind of like a keyboard layout) I just heard of this controller type today and to be honest I'm pretty intrigued. I would imagine inputs would be a lot easier to do with this kind of setup. -

Theres always some lag for online games which can royally screw up your timing. That may have something to do with it.

Winning is fun. Winning is even sweeter when you know that the person you won against is really good. You can agree with that right? Just like everything else in life, being good at something you do is fun. Do you think that Kobe Bryant got to his level just by playing basketball games? Of course not, he had to go through intensive training, most of which is not fun at all. But it was worth it to him, and if I were in his shoes I would also agree all the blood sweat and tears were worth being able to stand at the top. The best things in life come from hard work. Most of the time that hard work isn't fun. But if you are driven and have that goal in mind while you do the work, then it makes it bearable. Sure you can also just play this game casually with no regards to improving, but the more work you put into the game, the more rewarding it will be.
-
Haha cool stuff! I've been watching a bunch of the videos you've posted here on Dustloop to try and catch up with the "current" styles and they've been helping a great deal. Ruki and Makkii are some pretty scary Dizzy players

Thanks buddy I'm glad it's still helping players after all these years! So after almost 5 years of not touching GG or checking these forums, I'll be returning to the scene once again as soon as I get my ps3 :D So much has happened over the years, graduating college, starting a career, even a brief stint on Ninja Warrior :P I know I'm a mod here so I want to apologize for not doing my moderating duties, and a big thanks to Nehle for being here and offering his help. Frankly I thought that GG pretty much died out after everyone switched to BlazBlue so I'm pleasantly surprised that there are still committed players here. I can't say how much time I will be able to spend playing GG and helping with the forums, so no promises, but I will do what I can. BTW Nehle saw your matches against N-O, that must have been quite an experience eh? You got some great matches in! Did you play him in person?

I'm getting a PS3 soon and will be playing again soon I hope! I'll add you guys once I'm online

My bad, I thought you meant 2D because you said "into Icespike KD". I guess you meant that as poking with the 2K then comboing into a icespike KD, with whatever in the middle (6P / 2D / etc.) In that case, is 2K a safe poke to use against pilebunker?
