Josh, stop being hard on yourself by using characters that take a semblance of skill, and just use Wesker. Easiest character in the game to learn, AND he's God tier. Like, better than Ragna God tier. RR is a much harder character to learn than Dante (at least now anyways). UMvC3 doesn't have a learning curve, it has an exposure/match up curve. The only way to get really good at that game is to play match ups A LOT. I have a fantastic sentinel but never really get to show him off b/c of all the silly match up BS that comes with that game (dying in a combo doesn't help either). Anyway, let's talk about dem fraudulent GG finals at FR. FYI, DP/2D RC--> wild throw is NOT a legit mix up with Sol lol.

M.Song is in Gainesville, but he's plays GGAC mostly. Don't know of too many BB players there.

Ragna can easily bait Led ley setups with 5A into 5B; 5B hits ignis superarmor yes, but it also makes it active ALOT longer, causing him to CH you as you recover from Led Ley. You'd have to do 6D/2D before you even commit to Led Ley, which kills the point of trying to bait anything with Led Ley at all. The second hit of 2D (edit, thanks TD) can be backdashed/DPed. I hate this match up. He can just press buttons all day and you have almost no choice but to respect it. I just throw ignis at him a lot and try to ease my way in. Relius has to zone a lot in this fight, b/c once he's in 5B range it's pretty much time to block.

j.A is really good air to air against a variety of pokes b/c it's active for so long, and it has quick start up. That being said, don't expect to beat things like Carl/Arakune j.A, Ragna j.C (unless it's preemptive, which is very difficult), Arakune j.B, Mu j.C and a few others.

You can't poke with him AT ALL, any random hit beats ignis in most situations, led ley is almost useless (loses to 5B even with Ignis present) and his 5A destroys everything you can possibly do (what 5A doesn't do, 5B will). He does more damage, his mixup is better, and his pressure is just as good as yours (and he doesn't need an assist) and his tools to get out of your pressure are much better than vice versa. SKD doesn't really know the match up yet. Once he does, there will be very, VERY hard times. Relius' mix up is very seeable, and once people start blocking his 6A on reaction, you'll understand why I was so up in arms over his 'instant overhead'. You can poke ignis right after 214A, 2D is backdashable, etc. I can go on and on but you get the idea. As a side note, I've found a true fuzzy with him btw, but it's even more situational than the instant overhead, and is best in the corner.

So I guess I'm officially out for FR as well; had a mishap in the lab today and I need to be present during the weekends to make sure it doesn't happen again. It's just as well, they don't want none of this hawt Relius. Because of said mishap, I'll probably be netplaying for the rest of the day so just hmu for the games

Cary the main thing you need to work on is your defense. I'd like to propose this challenge to you, and you can choose either option: 1-Play a non reversal character (i.e. Carl, Relius, Tao, Platinum, Valk, Arakune, etc). Playing these types of characters will force you to improve your basic defense (reacting to overheads, IB, etc) while simultaneously learning how that character works, their strengths and weaknesses, etc. OR 2-Play a crapton of matches where you don't use D to escape pressure. This will force you to learn block strings of other characters, what is legit and what is not, throw breaking on reaction, etc. This alone will make you a much better player. If you know where the holes are, or can anticipate your opponent's offense, THEN you can use your drives accordingly, making people very scared to pressure you. The way you're using them right now pretty much looks like you're downright mashing, which is unwise in most situations. Some characters have various ways to bait this VERY easily (Mu, Carl, Relius, Ragna, Haku, Litchi) and keep their pressure consistent. Getting hit by 2a for trying to jump/chicken block and taking 2-2.5k is much preferred to eating a FC and losing the match b/c you wanted a 2/4D. Other than that, learn optimal/situational combos, get more comfortable with your normals (isn't 2C like +3-4 on block? whore the fuck outta that shit), and vary your D strings. Wednesday I'll be cracking out online with Ex, so I'll keep you guys posted on any rooms I make.

I think I'm officially done with marvel. Now I can get back to games that matter (BB, FFXIII-2, Kingdoms of Amalur, FUC)

Relius/Haku is in Haku's favor all day. He can just sit there and block 95% of what you do on reaction. Usually, if Haku can block you, he can counter you. He can cut through some of ignis' specials, and can turn the battle against you very quickly. His neutral game, damage, and mix up are all better than yours. This is an uphill battle for Relius, moreso than it is for Carl. I hate that match up. Mu/Lambda are better matchups than Haku imo.

If a game is good it'll withstand the test of time. Look at ST. Game is almost 20 years old and people still play it. GG might not get the clock time ST/3s/MvC2 does, but it'll be up there, especially by today's standards.

It's technicially not a fuzzy guard. It's just an "instant overhead". It obviously still works though. Yay for semantics and technicalities.

I found some new Valkenhayn tech today. If this shit is legit then his mix up game just became a whole new level of ridiculous.
