  1. I still don't think I'm that great and I'm always looking to improve, but for the sake of answering the question I reckon it took me a good few months before I started to really get the grasp of the characters I was playing. At least as far as Calamity Trigger is concerned. Continuum Shift probably took me a bit longer? Learning Noel in Continuum Shift is on an entirely different level than learning the same character in Calamity Trigger.
  2. I can understand the points being made about the ground tech system being flawed, but I also feel as if it may not be worth bringing up considering the BlazBlue series as a whole is (allegedly) designed to be more accessible to less skilled players. So long as the developers stay focused on that idea, I reckon it's safe to say there will always be gameplay quirks that the competitive scene is going to take issue with. The ground tech system notwithstanding. I love the Guilty Gear series. I love its characters, its story, its music, its gameplay; everything, really. Thing is, if I'm going to be entirely honest, I'll probably always be absolute garbage at it. I respect the depth and complexity of it and especially the people who play it at such a high level, but I'm more in tune with BlazBlue's simplicity. Therefore, I probably won't be as welcome to certain changes that, although would make the game better as a competitive fighter, would make things a lot more difficult for players like me.
  3. Hahahahaha. I really don't get the thought process behind that decision for Smash Bros. at all.
  4. I have to admit. I laughed at the boldface portion.
  5. I'm the other guy that plans on coming. :3 Even if we don't end up needing multiple PlayStation 3 consoles to accommodate the amount of BlazBlue players, I reckon it wouldn't really bother me much. My college environment has desensitized me to the idea of lugging all my stuff and then not getting a chance to use it. I'd like to note that my PS3 also happens to be an 60G model capable playing PS2 games, so it can be used for any assortment of titles outside of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift you all may want to play. I even have a memory card adapter.
  6. Nominating Cirno for keeping the Platinum discussion thread on track and doing great things with the limited amount of information we have on her. Also for regularly updating the location test topic. His blog is rockin'.
  7. It's kind of irksome to think that the people who have shown up to this location test know so little about Noel that it's to the point where they've resorted mashing, realizing the combo they pulled off did a decent amount of damage and then passing it off as 'news' worthy of being mentioned. I don't know. Maybe I'm just bitter 'cause nothing concrete has been mentioned about her since location test three?
  8. I.. don't understand that tidbit about Noel. 'Mashing midscreen into 4200 damage?' Does that mean that she has a relatively easy midscreen combo that does that much? I'm just generally confused because it doesn't even come with any sort of combo notations. Almost as if it's not meant to be taken seriously.
  9. True, true. I'm still committed to her tho'. Have been since Calamity Trigger. I can't help who I find to be the most fun in the game! I just wish we could get at least something from these location tests regarding her.
  10. I wonder why it's so hard to come by Noel information during these location tests. Does no one who comes to these things have any extensive knowledge on her?
  11. It's not about 'caring' per say, I just call her by her official name because it is what it is. Her official name. I'm a little partial to nicknames given within the actual series like 'Noelie' and 'boobie lady', but all in all I don't really have much of an issue with what people call the characters. In the end it's a pointless and unnecessary subject to discuss anyway.
  12. Been playin' BlazBlue since the console release of Calamity Trigger last year. Switched permanently to Continuum Shift once it came out for consoles as well.
  13. Her name is Platinum. Not Platina, Nanoha, Sakura or anythin' else. That's what it says on the character select screen and I reckon that should be the end of it.
  14. The translation is much appreciated, Runis. I've been wantin' as much information on Noel during these location tests as I could get. Lovin' all the additional gatlings that add to her pressure game along with 6A hitting crouchers. The buffs on 5B and j.B sound nice too. I'm still a little put off by the 5D nerfs, but I suppose I'll just have to deal with it along with everything else. Seems like Ms. Vermillion got off pretty well during these location tests. Looking forward to playing the final product.
  15. I suppose not, but from what I know Noel didn't get too many changes throughout the four location tests. Watchin' videos of her shouldn't be too bad. In the end it's the final version that counts tho'.
  16. After I saw the original trailer for BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, I immediately took interest in Noel because of the nature of her fighting style and because I found her Distortion Drives to the most aesthetically pleasing out of all the characters shown. Later on I started seein' matches of Kaqn's Ragna and took interest in him as well. When Calamity Trigger was finally released for consoles I mainly used Ragna the first few months because he was relatively easy to use and his rushdown style clicked with me. After taking the time to learn her basic combos, I picked up Noel as a secondary and later came to realize I had a lot more fun using her than Ragna. Eventually she became my most frequently used character. She's honestly the most fun character in the entire game to play, I reckon. As my signature indicates, I'm still waiting and hoping for a BlazBlue game with playable Jubei in the future. Although I may not drop every single character I use now (I doubt I'll stop using Noel), I'm sure that if Jubei were to ever become a playable character in the series I would end up putting a lot of time into him. :3 He's easily my favorite NPC, my favorite of the Six Heroes, and one of my favorite characters in the entire series.
  17. I'm interested in her because she's seems to be incredibly versatile with the various weapons she's carrying and could possibly be played in a number of ways. I'm not going to make any guarantees, but at the very least, I'm going to try her out for a decent amount of time. I ended up really enjoying Makoto, so I'm open to the possibility of liking Platinum enough that I'll pick her up.
  18. You've made your point and I'm done discussing this. Sledge wasn't the only thing I ever complained about, but I'm guessing that's all you've heard me complain about so you feel like jumping immediately to that. It's a combination of factors that make me hate that match up. Not just one move. Whatever. You're right. I'm just an idiot with no reading comprehension and no real knowledge/skill. It's not like I haven't said that already to myself countless times. I've recently decided to take an extended break from the game for those exact reasons. Also Patapon. Patapon is awesome.

  19. So would I, but whether we'll get one remains to be seen. She's got some nice stuff already with new gatlings and such to make her pressure game better. I think I remember hearing something about 5C being jump cancelable on block as well? Not sure.
  20. She's one of the worst in the game and doesn't have a DP. The closest thing she has to a safe wake up option after being hit by Gadget Finger is wake up Fenrir (632146D) with 100% heat for a Rapid Cancel. 5D beating sledge doesn't suddenly make that match up piss easy. I'd love for you to go to the Noel forums and call all the people having trouble with it 'pathetic scrubs' who need to do 5D more. It'll be a riot.

  21. I don't try to use 5D unless I'm sure I can get away with it. Countering sledge with 5D is not something that I'm going to try and do often in a match up that I actively try to avoid as much as possible. Noel vs. Tager is unbelievably frustrating for Noel. Gadget Finger is hell for her and it is especially effective against her. Don't go talking about that match up if you don't know anything about it. Seriously. It irks me. And I wasn't all that serious about my 'conspiracy theory', but it isn't entirely unfounded given what's been done to her.

  22. No he didn't. And I don't believe it for a split second. Arc System Works would never make anything easier for a Noel player. Even so, that match up is still terrible because of a little thing called 'Gadget Finger.' So there.

  23. There's always the chance of false information, sure, but I don't think every little piece of information should be looked at immediately that way. The main thing that bugs me is the fact that Makoto was never really that good of a character and the main thing she had going for her was damage output. Her range is terrible and her mix-up isn't as good as it seems when she's up against a competent player. It's like the she's making the same transition as Noel had from Calamity Trigger to Continuum Shift. Never broken, never really good, but still a lot worse after all the so-called 'balance' tweaks.

  24. I'm waiting for someone other than you to notice it. And thanks for the offer, but I think I'm good for now. Hahahaha. Just for clarification, coming from the perspective of a Makoto player, she doesn't seem so hot looking at her changes. I'm a bit worried.

  25. I'm not sure if I should be happy or worried about the lack of Noel information. I reckon it could go either way.
