LK's GAMEPLAY RELATED QUESTIONS ONLY question thread
Nini Heart replied to Lord Knight's topic in Archive
What he's trying to say is, when your offensive options are limited and you reach the point where the person against who you're fighting KNOWS everything you can throw at him including frame traps, overheads, lows, throws/tick throws and can block every single one of them. How do you break their defense at this point is what he's trynna ask. And yeah, we recently had 2 back to back tourneys and I faced the rachel player in grand finals both times and in pool play and brackets too. By the first grand final, he could block everything I could throw to him on reaction, and I was in a similar position. The match didn't devolve into a huge blockfest though. We started relying a lot on IBing>2A, anticipating the next move, playing a better neutral game to avoid being hit and being a lot more creative with our mixups(like 5 overheads in a row). I know I might get flamed for this but really, I don't think japan's defense is as gdlk as you guys make it sound. They get TRM'd a lot, they eat overheads a lot, etc. There are some players who are good at blocking but I don't think it's a japan only thing. -

Since I can't sleep, might as well do shoutouts now. Shoutouts to Pedro first of all. This wouldn't have been possible without you. Your aunt's basement is honestly the place where I got the best sleep in since I came to MTL. Shoutouts to that Domino's pizza and the metal music in your car. Shit almost made me go crazy lol. Shoutouts to Nolan for coming and joining the MTL BB Warriors. It's sad I didn't get to play you in either tourney >.< Shoutouts to Kirbster for being GDLK with Rachel and taking 2nd in both tourneys. Mad props bro. Also, props for being beast at AH3 after only an hour of training. Low tiers unite! Shoutouts to Kaeru for being hype and for being such a fast stick learner. I doubt anyone would beat you if you were still playing on PS3 pad. Good luck with that stick art. Shoutouts to my NDS for giving me a blast with my new RPG on the trip back home. Shoutouts to Ottawa for being such a chill place. Shoutouts to Pedro's aunt and uncle for being so kind. That was the best coke I've ever had, and the tea was soooo gdlk. Shoutouts to Imperial Sport for taking 3rd and preventing Ottawa from looking too free. Shoutouts to everyone having busted wired controllers with horrible D-pads that I can't use. Shoutouts to the Gaming Ottawa admins who played me. You guys were pretty good lol. Next time enter the tournies! Shoutouts to everyone I played at Ottawa. I like you guys' sportsmanship! Shoutouts to the cute girls who apparently played BB but were scared of entering the tourney. Andn you're damn right, Kirb is SO CHEAP lol. Shoutouts to anyone I didn't play. Maybe next time. Shoutouts to Beaver tails and Pedro and Kirbster trolling me. Next year I need to get on that Canal. MTL: Shoutouts to Steb for the neverending lolwtf moments whenever we play in whatever game(especially BB). Stay cheap gdlk at MvC. Also, stay free in french lol. Shoutouts to Eb for rigging the brackets. I never ever EVER play this nigga in a tourney and I ALWAYS face brice in my first or second match of every tourney. Also, stop helping brice out by psyching me out >.<. And shoutouts for getting better. Shoutouts to Brice for being Brice and repping dat bottom tier. Also why are our sets so weird? Shoutouts to Kaeru for giving me the closest set in these 2 days. Hopefully that stick art will be done soon. Shoutouts to Airmaster for being free in BB lol. Shoutouts to Pedro's Sentinel. NUFF SAID. Shoutouts to Trish and Viper, cause they're super cool and awesome. Shoutouts to Level 5 for repping Tsubaki and going so far with her. Low tiers UNITE. Shoutouts to Top 4 being composed of low tier only. MTL is a city where people STICK to their characters no matter how bad they are. Respek Shoutouts to Kirbster once again. What grudge match number are we at now? Next time, under heaven destruction money match yo. -

Urgh, underslept right about now. It feels weird waking up at 7 when you're used to waking up at 2... I'll catch up on the way there hopefully. -
X-23 is not like cammy, and neither is jill. Having a divekick doesn't make you like cammy. And USA about to lose the only FG they were better than japan at.

Pedro, where do you wanna pick me up? -
Nah, lambda is unbalanced in a bad way. Top tier characters just roll over her so bad.

I main Makoto and Pedro mains Mu. So far we're the two that are 100% sure to come. I can bring(bringing it anyways lol) my 360 with Makoto to make sure I can play if that's a problem. All I need is my 360 controller. If there's a PS3, that would be pretty cool. I can bring a Xbox>Ps3 converter in case you have any 360 pad warriors who need to fight the ps3 players. -

So i'm trying to be more responsible with my drinking lolilol. And yo, x-converter isn't that bad. I mean i'm gonna enter MTL BB with a converter yo. So quit whining and man up lol. -

Yeah come on guys, road trip + free money, it'll be fun. Plus, there's a MvC 3 tourney too. -
Yeah it's that one. You have good memory doooood! Tries to understand Blade's point and how the argument that SF4 is really slow is countered by the fact that nothing's broken. Remembers he's a nigga like me and don't make no sense. Returns to practicing for tourney.

[CS1-CSE] Makoto Nanaya Critique and Self-Improvement Thread
Nini Heart replied to Kurushii's topic in Archives
CS2 combos are piss easy. If you can do CS1 combos, you can do CS2 combos with only one hand. As for combos, you just need to know what your combo routes are depending on your position on the map. For example, you hit someone with an AA 5A. You can be a lazy fuck and go into 6A>J.B>J.C>623C~D combo route or be a real man and do the better combo route 6A>2D>Cannon/J.D. Makoto's combos aren't that diverse so knowing the combo routes will help you a shit load. Meter with Makoto can be used in a bunch of ways, but it's mostly dependent on the match-up. It can be used as a combo extender, combo ender full screen punish, or for pressure. If you start with 2A midscreen, you can use PF to get corner oki and 4-5k damage instead of the puny 2k + bad spacing you would have done. Or you can use it to RC to extend combos like Parry>RC>665B>6A>2D. Or against fuckers like Jin, rachel or lambda or anyone who likes doing random shit like projectiles, back dashing, air dashing, you can use your meter for BBS to make them stop being dumb. Or to extend pressure and create frame traps by RCing when you do something unsafe and it gets blocked. Or as a combo ender with BBS/Double BBS for those retarded ass damage combos. Or against fuckers who wanna be killjoys by bursting on drives. RC that shit. And 5A is a bad thing to use since it whiffs on crouchers. Ask Omni for neutral game since mine sucks. -

Both of you guys need to work on your combos. Seeing 2C or 3C starters ending in <5k makes me sad. Seei Also both of you need to work on hitconfirms. I saw some good starters like anti air 5B which didn't end up breaking even 1k. Mojo, I don't know why you didn't combo after your grabs a lot of the time. You shouldn't DD after throws, that's just wasting meter. In the corner, a throw is like guaranteed 4-5 k at least, or at least 3k midscreen. Still you have a lot of work to do. You're still not using a lot of her better tools properly. Your neutral game needs some work, and your pressure too. Leon, I don't think that video is a good representation of your skill so I'd rather not do a critique when I know that's not what you generally play like. -
[CS1-CSE] Makoto Nanaya Critique and Self-Improvement Thread

Messing up your Ds is perfectly normal with Makoto. You have to adjust to a new TV's timing for her drives, which mostly rely on muscle memory, so in the heat of the battle, you end up relying on your muscle memory, and that fucks you up if the TV has slightly different timings. That + PS3 only tourneys here is like the main reason I've been placing horribly here. Tourneys are on CRT, I play on a laggy vizio. Tourneys are on PS3, I play on 360 Dpad. On another note, too much random 3Cs. A tao who knew the matchup would 6C you on reaction into 6k. Not enough j.b which works well against tao. A lot of dropped combos because of drive timing fails(normal!) but this you already know. The matchup is ass anyways, but it seems you lost cause of timing differences and you didn't really know the match up well(6B can be parried instead of just blocking, J.B is super effective, etc). Next time go in training mode before the tournament and do 100 reps of 5D,2D, J.D each so you're used to the timing of the T.V. This is what I plan on doing next time I have a tourney on a non HD screen, hopefully it'll help
