  1. 1) The thing is, I didn't just look at frame tables and thought to myself "hey 5B looks awesome". I've been trying to use it more often in latest matches instead of 2A and it's working well, especially as a way to strike through the opponents holes in his pressure. I wasn't too sure about using it as a poke in neutral w/o pumpkin support, that's why I asked here. I'll test it more in the future. 2) My main problem with B/C lobelia is that if I guess wrong, I'll eat a lot of damage and lose my position (like Ragna running under B lobelia). A lobelia is great because it has less recovery than B/C but can be manipulated with wind to cover angles that B/C lobelia normally would. I'm probably just too careless and overuse 236B and j.236B. The latter has a useful angle but it is still kind of awkward. I should focus on grounded lobelias more. 3) That's true, you won't learn how to mixup and open up an opponent. Stuff like 236A rolltech punish in the corner, 3C > frog > block (frog hits opponent cause he is stupid), pressure reset with 3C9D into 5A CH always works. Thing is you can't just do your standard sj > summon pumpkin > wind down against the CPU cause it reads your inputs and counters you everytime. You actually have to play really patient and careful when trying to summon and zone so I thought it was useful.
  2. Some random thoughts from me after casual session from yesterday: 1) How do you feel about using 5B as a poking tool? I always thought it was a bad idea, but the more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that's it's actually fairly good. It has fast startup (8f, only other 5B that is faster is Jin's with 7f, most others are worse), has decent range (for Rachel), a good hitbox (gust of wind doesn't have a hurtbox), doesn't have foot attribute (so it beats out attacks that your other main poke, 2A, would lose against, eg Noel 2D, Jin 6B etc.), is airunblockable, jumpcancelable, a great combo starter (can be hitconfirmed into an aircombo on air CH or into 6BD 3C8D on the ground with some training) and leads to all her pressure. Only real downside is the large recovery on whiff. On block it's also unsafe but you can chain it into 6B to make it safe (or 3C9D but depending on the matchup you might not want to be that close to the enemy in a neutral situation). 2) Do you use lobelias for zoning if you don't have a pumpkin out? I find that (over)using them for this purpose gets me killed more often than it helps me. In the future I'll try to only use A lobelia for zoning and focus more on getting pumpkin out so I can use B/C lobelia more safely. 3) Playing against Hell CPU unlimited Hakumen/Nu to get rid of autopilot summoning but risking getting bad habits - yes or no?
  3. Anyway here the latest videos that weren't posted yet. 4. Incredibly awesome dirty double overhead with easier hitconfirm by sohei Setup: In the corner, make the opponent block a frog. Do 2D j.B dj.[C] Option A: Opponent got hit by j.B > cancel j.[C] into j.C, then proceed with an aircombo (preferably j.C > 2D > dj.2C(Lv3) > 2A(w) > 5C(w)C > frog oki).Video example Option B: Opponent blocked j.B > cancel j.[C] into j.B. Because j.[C] makes you float in the air longer, the 2nd j.B will be done extremely low to the ground. An opponent that's not used to this will think that you actually don't have time to get another aerial attack out.Video example If the opponent catches on, you can opt to land after the first j.B and go into a low instead, or you can do a fake j.[C] by just doing j.C, then land and go into a low.
  5. Yup, probably wanted to end with j.2C > air pumpkin. I've seen another variation, 6A > 5B > j.C > 2D > dj.2C(Lv2) > air pumpkin > 5B > sj.BC > dj.2C > air frog (wind down pumpkin for safety if opponent emergency techs). This one costs one less wind though. Really looking forward to all these new j.2C combos. Pumpkin + frog oki anywhere from 6A AA? Heck yes!
  6. How can untechable time be characterspecific?
  7. I'm really starting to wonder if the postings about worse character combo rate/pumpkin proration are true or just bogus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=fpatMTvOCfM#t=4m20s Pumpkin > 2A > 5B > 6CD8D > 5B > 5CC > 236B > d.5CC > d.3C > 214C > 3C (2,2kish). So many Rachel players cut that combo short, then Matsu walks up like a boss and does the whole thing like it's nothing, with a similar amount of damage. Maybe j.C > dash 5B doesn't work anymore (although I'm 99% sure the 5B in the video was a dashing one), but everything else is perfectly possible as it seems even from a kinda butt starter like Pumpkin > 2A.
  8. Fullscreen without meter he can't do much. If he throws an ice sword you can jump over and summon without risk, or do a winded airdash as you said. But yeah, try to get fullscreen when he has no meter. 6B can be catchaired on reaction easily. If he ends a corner combo with B/C Icecar, you can do a winded emergency tech to escape the corner because of his low profile during the ice car recovery animation. I think it's better to try and stay on the ground as much as possible since his air pokes are better than ours. His j.B is a great jumpin but our 6A tends to win I believe (last time I played Jin I AAed im plenty of times). Cause people here rather talk about combos :8/:
  9. Umm, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Whenever random TD hits my opponent, I always just dash up, set a frog/pumpkin, and let them tech without adding hits, so nothing new here. What do you mean?
  10. No, he meant the big pumpkin from TD (9th hit in the video). A super on its own should be all red but TD for some reason sometimes just isn't...
  11. Lapras Dragonair Crobat Quilava Altaria Espeon Skarmory Grovyle Milotic Slaking (lol sick design) In no specific order (except for Lapras, which is obviously and undoubtedly #1).
  12. No idea for both of your questions (maybe 6B didn't wallbounce cause Jin had forward momentum from running? No clue tbh) but I have had blue beat TD happen to me before. Rachel (Kinoko) vs Hazama (Buppa) www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhOnjMiZf8c#t=1m30s ^I've heard people say Hazama's chain attacks have gotten better but have a look at 5:40 to see where we can stick in Cat Punch now :> And seriously how the fuck did he drop that last combo. Or rather, in which way did he =.=
  13. Arakune (farukon) vs Rachel (kyuuchou) www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvyD5uVYjvU#t=3m Poor Kune, I almost feel bad for him. Almost More to come hopefully. 15. There's also a Pokemon Battle Online Game (battles as in the games), where everyone can choose Pokemon with Lvl 100, choose their attacks I believe, items etc. Can get really tactical (with absolute bullshit like shield/substitute loop, where you're getting healed by leftovers while your enemy dies of poison ^^)
  16. Download GB emulator. Download Pokemon TCG game. ??? Profit. (Unless the rules differ there but why would they? :S I learned the Yugioh TCG by playing the GBA game, so I figure this should work too?)
  17. It should be noted though that this will not work if the burst hits as a CH, in which case you can't tech mid-air.
  18. A win is a win, right? Which game btw?
  19. Throw 9D BBL 236A1D BBL in the corner is alright.
  20. I noticed some Rachel players in videos like to use 2A when Hazama approaches with chains (so you duck under his aerial attack and hit him back). I tried this out myself yesterday and... it works like 50% 30% of the time It seems to lose to his j.A but win against other attacks if they aren't very well spaced/timed. j.A always beats it and j.B is pretty much 50/50. I don't know if this is a tactic that should be attempted. If he likes to do stance mixups a lot, you can always most of the time beat him out with 5B before the stance attack lands, unless he is too far away. If you're on point, you can do this on reaction. If he does stance overhead, you will CH juggle him with the 5B, and you can run up and 5B again into a full aircombo. If he does stance sweep, you will hit him even at almost max range, and you will get a CH too and he will stay grounded. It's much less riskier than attempting to cat chair it. I suppose stance DP would win but noone uses that in mixups.
  21. Am I the only one who hates the Carl matchup more than the Hazama matchup? -_____-
  22. Currently when you end an aircombo with j.2C for the knockdown, you have to cancel the landing animation into 2A, and it will whiff if the opponent emergency techs. You can proceed to do mixups from there, but depending on the matchup they are most likely suboptimal. With j.2C being special cancelable on air hit, you can do a combo into j.2C, then cancel it into pumpkin right before landing, and wind it towards the opponent when they get up for a much safer and stronger oki game.
  23. Don't think so. Would have been too godlike.
  24. The reason I'm specifically pointing this out is that during CT times, I once wanted to try and sub Carl. I went into training mode, learned two or three easy combos with Nirvana, then jumped right into netplay. The first game was against a Ragna player that had played 10 matches or so, and I thought I'd get an easy win as a start. But when the match started, I was so busy moving Nirvana around that I forgot to move myself, or I walked around and forgot about Nirvana. When I eventually managed to get a hit in, I forgot to activate Nirvana to attack etc etc. I ended up being so focused on what I have to do that I didn't see at all what the opponent was doing. Like, I completely didn't get realize what he was doing. He could jump in for free all day, run up 5B or whatever and I wouldn't have catched on until the combo was over. It went on like this for aprox. 5 matches, then I said "fuck it" and went back to Rachel However, this short subchar journey opened up my eyes, and I recognised that this was basically how I played all of my main chars in all games I ever played (not as distinctive of course, but essentially I am always more busy with myself than with my enemy). Since then I'm trying to get rid of this habit, but I'm not thinking of it often enough to get somewhere :X lol same here, when I started playing CT and looked for Rachel matches on Youtube, the first videos to come up were the final matches of a netplay ranbat, TD vs SwordOfToan's Nu. I watched all the matches and was like "wtf, I'll never be as good as this guy". I'm probably still worse, but I came closer, haha :D
