  1. Not reliable as a reversal; it has 14f of startup and head invul doesn't come in until 8f. Zeero specifically used it to call out Valk 6C, which is super slow. It'll work as an anti-air in some matchups but most of the time, you're better off using 6A as an AA.
  2. Oui
  3. Bill (Ding), are you gonna come w/us tonight or are you leaving tomorrow morning?
  4. I'm in favor of it and Bill (both of em) are in favor too. Hell, even the TO Valk wants the patch and his character got hella nerfs :v Russell, please give me my new OD
  5. Carl: Doll moves will not consume the doll gauge during OD
  6. I think most of you guys who are going to Toryuken got the news already but just in case anyone missed it: Toryuken will be running 1.0 (Pre-patch) for the main singles tourney on Saturday/Sunday. We're looking to run 2v2 teams on Sunday though and that'll probably be played on 1.1
  7. Just so you all know, the guide probably won't be done for some time. I'll post the first version of it in June at earliest.
  8. A nice-smelling piece of trash is still a piece of trash See you at Toryuken :B

  10. This is Mikan Yarou
  11. It'll depend on how the opponent will approach but generally, you'll want to use the doll to punish Koko's zoning attempts. Try to keep the doll in range of Koko and use 46D and Brio to punish her if she tries to graviton, throw out traps and fireballs, or tries to do anything funny in neutral. If Koko gets away w/a fireball and then throws out a graviton at your location to make it home towards you, you can either use Ada as a meatshield to take the fireball or Vivace past the fireball. Be aware that her fullscreen teleports via graviton are an option, so be prepared to punish that if it looks like they'll go for it. Volante works surprisingly well in this matchup: it stills serves its purpose as a spacial control tool and while it can be nullified by Kokonoe setting a fireball and directing its course towards the Volante, she has to somewhat go out of her way to setup fireball + graviton, at which point you can punish her for it. The neutral game in this matchup can be a rather hectic course of events since a lot of things can happen. The bottom line is to play the matchup patiently but keep the doll near Koko to keep her in check and punish/put pressure on her so that she doesn't get a free fireball + graviton. Once she makes a mistake, go in and don't waste your opportunity.
  12. Here's something that might make your life a bit easier against Kokonoe (or anyone w/crossups for that matter): http://youtu.be/G4uPwYrpM5M
  13. That's an excellent point, I'll definitely add a section for that.
  14. No footage afaik. A bit of a shame really, RYO v Razu was a pretty good match to watch. In other news, now that my study term has ended, I can finally start on a proper Carl guide, which will hopefully be done before EVO. I have a tentative layout for the guide atm: Moveset (normals + specials) ? Neutral Offense (the following three sections would be subsections of this) Blockstrings Okizeme Combos (?) Defense Doll conservation If you guys have any suggestions for the guide (whether it be regarding the layout or any other form of input), I'll be more than happy to hear them
  15. So team Carl won the pre-arc revo same character team tourney #carl4Stier #carldoesntsuck?
  16. As usual, thanks for the links. Just for future reference, the high-ranking red-maroon Carl is Chile/Chiri
  17. You bet I will at Toryuken. Fakku is no match for Mortified's Kaede archives :3
  18. Although I can't really do a good writeup for this matchup since I'm still in the process of learning it, I can post some disjointed notes about the m-u. This is definitely not one of Carl's better matchups so we'll need every bit of knowledge we have to have a chance of beating her. Feel free to contribute more to the thread - Super ball punishes: http://youtu.be/icrOGBtg5ek - We can vivace to escape black hole setups. Black hole punish: http://youtu.be/Juvb6rS3Yj4 - One important thing to remember when punishing blackhole is to not jump as you'll end up being pulled towards the black hole. Just backdashing is enough to get away from the hold. - Challenging her air-to-air is usually not the best idea. Not only are her air buttons better than ours, the reward off her air buttons is (usually) greater than ours - Try to keep the doll near Kokonoe to punish ground graviton/traps (46D) or air gravtions/fireball (Brio) - Use Vivace to maneuver around traps + fireball in neutral. Watch out Kokonoe baiting the rolls though - Her 5C has projectile properties so it can be rolled w/236A. If you IB a preceding move and then Vivace it, you might not get a punish but you'll usually end up in frame advantage - Our best answer to her oki is wakeup OD + 46D as she cannot do anything about it other than jump away - If she's knocked down and doesn't have meter, don't be afraid to meaty her. The best she can do is block or teleport and the teleport can be easily punished with the right OS - If she does a freeze + 22B setup, 236AB away from the corner works as an anti-crossup OS; if she goes between you and the corner, you'll get 214AB (high barrier), if she teleports out of the corner, you get B Vivace and roll away from the corner. Kokonoe can still easily beat this with a low but it's still nice to have something that'll beat 3-4 of her mixup options - You can use Ada as a meatshield to take the hits from fireball and super ball Will post more later, zzz
  19. Apparently old gate and lessons lag. You might want to reconsider the stage list. Also, the non-reserve roster for DL is a bit too big, how are we thinning it down? First come first serve or team captains?
  20. Toryuken won't be big on Persona at this point since the game's pretty much dead here Ryan won't be able to drive us to the venue this time around either so we'll have to bus to Toronto. If you can keep all that in mind, you can still tag along with Bill and I.
  21. The first part of the combo is actually pretty flexible and the jump direction or Brio timing shouldn't matter too much, just make sure everything hits. As for the bolded part, it's not supposed to be a super jump 2C; it's just a regular jump 2C without the allecancel, input 46D and then j.C, which leads them to getting hit with 46D. With that said, I just realized that you can replace j.2C, j.C, 46D with an easier path: 2D, 5C, j.B, j.C, 623D, 5C, j.B, j.C, 46D, 5C, sj.B, j.2C, j.B, JC, j.B, j.C, 8D, ender Give that one a try and tell me how it goes.
