  1. It's possible to do midcombo summons during solo ground combos provided that you can do it well before cantabile. The following link would be an example of this: http://youtu.be/Q32XJu5LPQo?t=21s You can do this with throws as well: throw, 22D, 236A, 5C, etc. I do this sometimes but it might not be airtight depending on the spacing. Your other options are summon, silenced volante or yomi Brio if the doll is close enough and you think they'll try to jump out.

If you're using that route, try to run the proration timer for as long as possible by adding some extra attacks to extend the combo. 5B>2B>6B>6D>6C>2A>5A>2A>5A>5B>2B>5C>46D>j.Ax4>j.2C>j.Ax2>UB Whenever I use this route, I usually airdash at a higher height and use j.AAC instead of j.AAB. The bigger gap makes it easier for the setup to uncombo.

  4. I can't make the tournament this weekend, gotta pack up my shit since I'm moving out next week I actually beat the Hakumen lol (the m-u still sucks though). I got bopped by Kagura though, which doesn't seem like a great matchup either And yeah, I've been try to tell everyone that Tager v Carl is not as bad as it seems lol. Admittedly, shit's harder when you don't know the matchup. I lost to the Tager b/c I was playing sloppy though, I felt that I really shouldn't have lost to him but w/e, gotta hold that.

  8. I'm actually wrong about the 5C range part, dunno why that sounded right in my head but one forward IAD/two-thirds screen distance seems closer to the ideal range with Ada around the 5C range. I also sorely underestimated flashkick not just in defense but neutral as well. Looks like I need to study this one a lot more than I thought.

Off the top of my head: - 2A/5A, 5B, 6B, 2C, 5B, 6A, j.C, 46D, 5C, sj.B, dj.B, j.2C, j.C, 8D, ender (damage combo) - 2A/5A, 5B, 6B, 2C, 2B, 6A, j.214C, airdash, j.A, j.C (solo recovery combo, character specific) - 5B, 6B, 623C, 623D, 5A+B, 6]C[, 46D, Lv2 6C, 5C, j.B, j.C, 421D, j.2C allecan/5C, sj.B, dj.B, j.2C j.C, 8D, ender (damage route) - 5B, 6B, 623C, 623D, j.2C, j.C, 46D, j.2C allecan/5C j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj.B, j.C, 8d, ender (meterless damage route) - 2B, 5B, 6B, 2C, 2B, 6A, j.214C, AD j.B, allecan j.2C, j.B, dj.B, j.2C, j.C (solo recovery combo, character specific) UBs still work in the corner so if you want to go for it, they're definitely viable. The followup that Pen_Ninja wrote down works just fine. 2C generally won't lead to optimized combos since they prorate quite a bit compared to Carl's other moves. With that said, I like your combos; they lead to respectable damage for the starter and resources used and allow for easy midcombo summons. This route's probably a bit more optimized: 5B, 6B, 2C, CT, (22]D[ during 2C or CT) 5C, j.B, j.C, 623]D[, 5C, j.B, j.C, 46D, 5C hjc, j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj, j.B, j.C, 8]D[

  17. Not to take away from Ryan but was that bait really intentional? It kinda looked like Raynex panic bursted the j.C and Ryan was still in the air when he bursted so he couldn't really combo at that point anyways. Speaking of Raynex, wow. I know he's a very fundamentally strong player but damn, that Az is solid.

  19. I don't find 5C's pushback to be that much off an issue tbh. I actually prefer it over 5B due to the additional blockstun. One string you could do in the corner is 5B, 6B, 6A, j.2C, 6D into whatever for a high/low mixup. Don't quote me on this but I heard rumors where Ryuusei switched because he felt that Jin couldn't fight Kokonoe. Kinda makes you wonder about the game's balance if a top player feels that a character like Jin can't compete against the best.
  20. I should probably note that Kagura can dash cancel his 5DA to try to reset his string. He's around -3 on regular block if he does this though so you can mash out of that if he tries it.

  22. No, I did not neglect Kagura being able to chain his drives. The thing is, if Kagura wants to go for 6DA, 6DB or his overhead for his drive mixup, you can mash out of it no matter where he chains it from, which is why I don't consider it a safe mixup since he has to burden that risk if he wants go for it. With that said, he does have options for frame traps that are high reward so choosing to try to block him is also a respectable plan. If you want more details on Kagura's safe/unsafe drive strings, a Kagura player put up results of his extensive testing on a google drive document. Stance fast-fall isn't fast enough to used reliably for that. The earliest he can cancel his air stance is around 16 frames. He's also going to be in the air for longer than that if he's even in a situation where he can be hit by Brio. Good Brio usage should discourage him from being around there in the first place. You're not really wrong but one thing to note is that Kagura can only chain 1 attack per stance for a total of 3 attacks (that is, he can't use 6DA after 6DB or whatever). If you block one drive attack, this means his total number of options is reduced to 5-6 for his next attack depding on the stance used. With this in mind, it's a bit easier to defend his strings. The first bolded is part of why I suggested the second. If Carl is just out of 5C range with Ada between them, Kagura can't hit him without overcommitting into a drive move and he's close enough to move in quickly as Ada makes Kagura block to start pressure. Otherwise, I completely agree with you on solo Ada usage being very risky since Kagura can hit back so hard.
