  1. SC4 was pretty boring and dull. I'd certainly consider it the low point in the series. I'd give Soul Edge a 7/10, Soul Calibur an 8/10, SC2 9/10, SC3 8.7/10, SC4 4/10, and SC5 7.5/10
  2. I'd actually contacted them about it to get them to double-check to make sure it wasn't a placeholder listing or anything, and they mentioned that (barring any unforeseen delays) that it would be released on that date. Companies do lie, so it's completely possible they wanted to shut me up, but I did at least try to verify it.
  3. lol but seriously, I agree. I like the regular one better, but both are sort of lame. Though I think Europe's had it worse on the other titles in terms of boxarts. It's like everyone has a cold
  4. I just want to get my hands on this game, it looks so fun. I hear the balance is awful, and while that's obviously not the best thing, I still want to play it rather badly. CVS2 is one of my top 5 fighters, and that has lulz balance.
  5. Any news on the 3DS version? I've been waiting to get this on 3DS since I am pretty sure this was supposed to be released here on it.
  6. I don't live anywhere that has an arcade scene at all, but the movie theater I go to used to have an SC3:AE machine in it, and i'd always play it some before and after the movie. I liked the Conquest mode thing, but at the same time, I didn't find it to be something that vastly changed my opinion. I still enjoy console SC3, and loved both the CAS ideas that never came back (I miss those CAS only styles) and the Chronicles of the Sword mode (I think I enjoyed that mode more than the main game).
  7. Back to Nightmare and Lizardman for me. Oh wait, I stuck with them (well, Siegfried, but Nightmare in SC2 since no Siegfried) throughout the series, so it's not quite "back to" anything.
  8. I agree to a point. Certainly clones should be gone, but absolutely those who aren't clones have no reason to go anywhere. So that doesn't nuke the roster by much.
  9. The roster of Tekken Revolution needs to be nuked? All like 16 of them? Honestly, this is fine. I didn't really care who won. If it was Shin, i'd have laughed and waited to see how he played, and I kind of wish he did win now because a friend of mine has utter hatred for him. The silly animal characters would have been funny. Really, anyone could have won with no complaints from me, I just hope she's different than Lili.
  10. It says in the same link that Wenzel provided that it goes from July 26th - August 1st, but I guess more confirmation can't hurt.
  11. I have mixed opinions on this. Soul Calibur II is an amazing game, and still (to me) the best in the series, but I enjoyed the Gamecube game most because of the ability to play Link. Spawn was 5/10 in terms of fun to play as, and the PS2 version had Heihachi, who is simply a Tekken character, but it also had noticable slowdown and graphical issues, so to choose this version as the base is pretty bad. As well, why is there no Wii U version? I can understand not being able to get Spawn so whatever, have Heihachi, but Namco-Bandai is working with Nintendo on Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U, so why was using Link impossible when the partnership is there AND the Gamecube SC2 was the best selling version?
  12. I'll help out on things that aren't self explanitory
  13. I suppose I really should have said before that we didn't need them as gender-specific-random characters, not that they should be removed. Elysium having a Necrid style of play would be amazingly fitting for her, so I fully support the idea. Kilik's staff style was epitomized in Xiba, so if he was going to do anything, he really did need to change styles almost entirely. If their going to do that much editting to a pre-existing character, might as well make a new one. Xiba handled Kilik and Seung Mina's style really well while maintaining his own flair, so both of them have no real point gameplay wise unless they have vastly different styles (and again, at that point, just make someone new instead of shoehorning nostalgia). Seung Mina is handled well enough in Xiba, so she really shouldn't be present. It'd be redundant. Same for Rock to Astaroth. Bangoo with his own original style might be cool. I do want to see more original characters and weapons as well. I'd love just a normal 1-handed sword wielder guy, double voulge, and the bow + arrow guy sounds cool. No guns though.
  14. It could have been Spain's version. Certainly a possibility, I didn't check to see where it was from. And it's not as if I have issues with Spanish as a whole. Had to take 4 levels of it in high school (Spain form, when asked about the other forms we were told that we didn't need to learn them because there were only minor differences), and we watched movies in Spanish there occasionally (I liked Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo in Spanish), I just felt like what I saw was like people just literally reading from the script with no emotion at all, and their screaming was just like "ehhhhhh..."
  15. I can't comment on DBZ or Sailor Moon, I don't know about their dubs, and they honestly matter little to me, so I won't contest it. Watched DBZ and part of Sailor Moon in English. Didn't love or hate the shows, didn't care enough to go find their Japanese versions or any other dub (except I watched part of DBZ's German dub, but that had something to do with a friend of mine). As for not knowing how incredible it is, I guess I don't. I poked into some examples of it, and my first reaction was to laugh at the fact that they were acting like they were having casual conversations with one another with the screams sounding more like mild constipation. I wouldn't know Spanish as well as a native speaker, so perhaps there's a nuance i'm missing, but emotion is hard to mistake even without language barriers, and it wasn't there.
  16. I don't really care if the spoken dialogue is in English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Russian, or Swahili, but the absolute elitism about Spanish dub? Yeah, that needs to get dropped. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clqINRtqDmk This gameplay shows that the voices are still in Japanese regardless. That doesn't confirm the full product will be that way, I realize, but this shows you what is going on right now.
  17. First off, I imagine this game will stick to the "Japanese voices only, translated subtitles and text" route. This is exemplified by the US version being Japanese voices only, because Sony US doesn't generally give full retail releases to games with no English dub (barring a handful of exceptions). Secondly, I doubt a Spanish dub would be any better than an English dub. The bits i've seen of Saint Seiya in Spanish have been so emotionless and stunted that it seems exactly the same as an English dub would be.
  18. Elena's cool, just not a character I frequently played as. I do like the 4 that are coming over from SFXT (from best to worst in this order: Rolento, Poison, Elena, Hugo).
  19. Talim, Zasalamel, and Yunsung should have their styles present. Zasalamel as a character should stay, Yunsung is irrelevant and someone else can take his style, doesn't matter either way for Talim. They also need to lose the 2 gender-specific-random characters in exchange for 2 more characters. Would also be nice if some of the creation-only styles from 3 came back, or new creation-only styles.
  20. So, it can't be Haggar then. Looks like I was wrong. Now i'm thinking it will probably be Nilin, because she had Flash Kick, Shoryuken, and Spinning Bird Kick, so they might just make her a Seth sort of deal and give her one or two other moves to call it a day. Personally, since Ingrid got the chance, I wish one of her other All-Stars companions (D.D., Rook, and Death) got to be in a game. An absolutely new character is also a good idea.
  21. Ok, so the update for everywhere else but Japan got delayed. However, something interesting happens if you go to Japan's version of the game. Say I unlock 1 character on the Japanese game. When I get back on the English one, new it gives me an unlock over there for it as well. It's possible this may have happened because the unlock on the Japanese version was Hwoarang, who doesn't exist in the US game yet, but it sees I unlocked someone, so it gives me an unlock for someone I can get instead.
  22. I do think the 5th character will be Haggar, but if it's not, there are certainly some choices i'd like, such as Roberto or Akira (Rival Schools), DD or Rook (cancelled Capcom Fighting All-Stars), or an Evil Dan idea (I recall Seth Killian talking about an Evil Dan with pink lightning that he wanted to add to SF4)
  23. Not sure why I should be happy that the game exists. I felt AE 2012 was fine and didn't need a fix, because the minimal issues that exist can be worked around easily, meanwhile this "fix" has the potential to break things (so, we're buffing Cammy while giving Fei Long only nerfs? Great "balancing", Capcom.) They are copy-and-pasting 6 stages from SFXT, but, those stages (and the stage music for them) sucked. Why can we not get either completely new stages, or updated versions of stages people have been wanting to see, like the SFA2 Australia stage or something? They have 5 new characters, but they are also copy-pasted from SFXT to USF4. I like the 4 characters, but it's silly to only add them and your "mystery character" (that will just end up being Haggar ported from MVC3 most likely) when you have so many fan requested characters you could have chosen from, and simply ignored to save yourself some work. Why should I praise laziness? I didn't need a new version for this, because it's been possible with PC modding for a bit, so it really just feels like they took a PC mod and legitimized it (kind of like SFXMM being taken and given their official brand as their own product). And then the trailer for the pre-existing 4 they are porting don't even show their super, ultra, or anything, just 1 special and a bunch of random normals. Also, basically just saying "we have new modes and features" without demonstrating even a single one of them, isn't hype, it's the opposite of that. It's lame as hell. Yeah, whatever, they can't show all their cards, but absolutely nothing? For all we know, we could be waiting until like a month from launch, and it's like "here's your new modes and features!" and it's just the cut Vanilla modes back, and the features as just being able to change the menu pictures. You need to show SOMETHING when you announce that you have new modes and features. This whole package didn't need to exist, and it just feels like someone at Capcom made some console/PC discs/downloads of AE where they used PC mods to port the SFXT characters and stages. You don't need a whole new version for balance changes, that could have been a patch like 2012 was, so the reason Ultra has to exist is to provide new content, but it's just purely recycling a recent game instead of putting even a modicum of effort.
  24. Don't even give me that. The trailer looks like a 5-10 minute Windows Movie Maker job, taking some tourney clips in there, flashing up something showing ~5 balance changes, only saying "we got new modes and features" without revealing what they are (given the laziness of just porting the SFXT extra characters, it's probably just Vanilla's survival and time attack modes back), a demonstration of the character that showed maybe 1 special (not super, not ultra, just 1 special) per character and then a bunch of random normals (with character models looking like they literally superimposed them in USF4 with no changes whatsoever), and no showing of this "mystery" 5th character (which, again, the quality reeks of cash-in, so I can only see this mystery character being whatever takes little to no effort, like porting Haggar) made that a trailer that was both dull and infuriating. I won't really hold my hopes for it, since it seems like Capcom is doing whatever just to get more money for 0 effort (since they are literally ripping stages and characters from one game to this one), but I want Rolento's hanging wire back. Rolento's always been fun, but it was bittersweet using him in SFXT because they went ultra-lazy on his super and cross art and didn't give him the wire. Ultra 3 would be nice, but that requires actual effort, and we can't have that.
  25. I feel insulted by that trailer. No explanation of the new modes or features, terrible showing of the "new" 5 (well, 4, because they are trying to drum up hype before revealing they just ported Haggar), no ultras shown for any of the "new" characters... Honestly, after that absolutely, utterly pitiful trailer, I DEMAND Ultra III for everyone.
