No, I was more talking about the kind of crazy where their voice reaches the point where it sounds like a harpy screeching and they smash a $40 controller that YOU brought to your local scene. Oh sure, they might pay for the damage caused but it ain't like they'll ever apologize for being an utter dick.
-
I guess it is more of a case "crazy shit you do to get a competitive edge going". Some people just take things WAY too seriously. Though I guess that's a more general (and sane) pet peeve: people who don't know how to chill the frak down. At the end of the day. it is all a game. Unless we're playing for big payoffs and we got beer companies sponsoring us to go to SBO or something, there's never a reason to lose your shit over a game.
-
And there you go: something utterly dumb caught you by surprise because you did not expect it XD. LOL, yeah it happened. I'm actually not one to get angry at random trash talk or when the audience wants to join in the demotivational train. But "trash biting" is another story altogether.
-
It's because you're so used to high-level players and know what to expect. See, while the more experienced players know and have written down the most "optimal" combo routes (if I do X then I will do Y and finish off with Z), that same knowledge can be used against them (though even better players will adapt to you adapting to them). But then, you fight someone completely new who mash buttons and do stupid stuff and it'll hit you, because somewhere in the back of your head you're going "They can't be that dumb to think that'll work". And that's when they get you. To put it as a rather crude analogy, you may be able to dodge bullets but if I throw freshly dropped dog poo at you, there's a pretty good chance I can score a hit because when would you ever think that someone would throw poo at you?

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Luminos564 replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Isn't that a good thing though? It gives BBCP and P4C time to run their course on the console market. Then, when the dust clears off, we're hit with GG:Xrd and the fun begins all over again. -

In a way, I'm actually kind of glad they're being so upfront (well as upfront as Mori can get anyway) about who is going to be strictly DLC. I know some people are not fond of DLC announcements before the game is out, what with the competitive nature of fighting games and all that. But I don't mind it since it gives me a reason to expect something good. Yuuki Terumi is pre-order DLC (in Japan anyway, but may not be so in the US): Awesome. I pre-order all the games I want anyway so I can get a nice little bonus for doing something I've always done. Kokonoe is DLC somewhere down the line: Oh sweet. The one character people have been wanting for so long got thrown a bone. I can wait and see what she'll be like until I make my purchase. Until then, I can ride this hype train all I want. -
I doubt that was the case considering this was when he was ~15 and a group of us were playing our own MvC II tournaments at the one nearby arcade. I find it kind of suspect that he used Blanka as inspiration since MvC II did not have him on the roster.
-
Well, I figured it couldn't hurt to try... I wish I was. But it is true. I recall him saying that it was fair since Blanka was his favorite character and he wanted to imitate him or some BS like that. So I went all Balrog on him instead.
-
Fair enough on your front I guess. But just as a question: have you considered that she has an easier time doing that damage to compensate for her other weaknesses? So. Hit. Them. Back. I actually had to deal with an idiot once who went around biting other people on the shoulder during a match. Then his teeth and my fist went on a date. His teeth decided it was best to go see other people.
-
Yeah, but pretty much everyone can get high damage in the corner (CSE). Mu-12 is hardly special in this regard and CP lowered it (in exchange for better mid-screen combo damage). I think you're kind of defeating your own argument there. If a character's whole gameplan revolves around getting those "lucky strikes" with very limited options, then they're definitely "working for it". She's not like CP Hazama who can score easy 3K combos off a 5A.
-
Strangely, I can never get angry when someone Astrals me. I just can't. Instead I always send an immediate GGs congratulating them on pulling it off, especially Online.
-
>>Mu. >>OPness. What is this, I don't even . I can understand being peeved at a Mu-12 match-up (since she CAN do some crazy things). But calling her OP? That's a bit of a stretch to me.

I forget; weren't Makoto and Valkenhayn in the same position during CS1? IIRC, before either of them was released, people were able to crack open the 360 disc and found their emblems, themes and placeholder but that was it. The actual characters were sold as "proper" (as in not on-disc) DLC. -
OK, new personal pet peeve: when it feels like you're not making any progress whats-so-fucking-ever. You ever get that feeling? Trying to learn new stuff and better yourself as a player, but it always feels like you're trying to smash a brick wall with a bent toothpick? That's kind of where I'm at right now and it's just the pits.

Thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand times Shadow Draygon m(_._)m. I wanted a gif of that for the longest time and was honestly not expecting it so fast. You just made my evening.
-
I got an animated gif avatar request, though I fear it might prove to be too much of a hassle. Basically I'm looking for Samurai Shodown's Enja performing his Zetsumei/Overkill. However I am looking for it to start just before the face of his victim melts off completely and have it end just a bit after he turns towards the player all menacing-like. I was fortunate to find a video featuring it exclusively (also thankfully without any sound since Enja screams loud enough to wake the dead) so I'll post it here: What I am looking for goes from the ~6 second mark and ends just at the 9 second mark, minus the "Victory" flashed over him and the bar that remains visible within the pillar of fire. Thank you in advance.

I can't imagine your reaction on having to wait in 64 man lobbies for CP. Especially if you're an odd number and have nobody to fight while everyone else is having a blast beating each other senseless.
-
Man, the last anime convention I went to, we ended up in a room filled to the brim with people, with no air conditioning for an hour and 30 minutes (it was for an "Uncensored" Panel with the 4 visiting VAs). It still did not smell as bad as you described and outside of the boiling heat, it was actually a good time.
-
Wait, this actually happens? Holy shit on skunk sandwich! How do you fail to shower in this day and age? If you have money to afford a console and a pretty hefty price tag for the games, then you have enough money or are in a position to shower everyday. Good grief, I hope I never encounter someone like that.
-
How about entering a room on your first day. Said host D-card proficiency states he/she plays Ragna with all others being at 0. You walk in with your main (in my case this was Haku-men) and are ready for some fun. What do they do? Picks Nu-13/Lambchops. Ladies and gentlemen: we found our counterpicker.
-
It's not so much about being cheap (it really isn't). Just...utterly insulting to the potential of a character. Especially when they don't even TRY other kinds of movement like jumping. Nope. They just stand there like some FPS turret firing in a predesignated pattern. If I wanted to fight bots I'd go elsewhere.
-
I said not everyone parades your corpse like a sandbag XD. Though I still fondly remember using Haku-men's 6B stomp in CT against any Nu-13 that I beat just for the extra stress relief. Ooohhhh, that's another pet peeve: Drive spamming Nu-13s and Lambchops. Especially when they're not even the good kind of spam (5DD>4DD then repeat). If he got mad because of some superficial rule he tried to impose because he lost, then he's a spineless scrub who couldn't take a loss if his life depended on it. Got killed by a 5CC>PF? Tough spit pardner! You don't get a choice on how you get handed your defeat.

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Luminos564 replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Zappa! I want to see his ghosts and hear his tongue-twister gibberish again. I'd also be very happy to see Slayer. That's the kind of classy you just don't see anymore and need more of. -
Just as a small heads up, not all "corpse beaters" are doing it on purpose. I knew a friend who practiced his combo routes so much and developed such incredible muscle memory that he was not consciously aware that he had already won the match. It was a habit of his and he really wasn't doing it on purpose. Then again, I knew him and played him in offline VS. but I can imagine that you can't have that assurance online.
-
Mics primarily. Especially when you get the arrogant kind of player who goes on and on about he's the shit. Then when you waste their ass for spamming only one move, they call you "cheap". It's funny the first few times, but after hearing it for the 30th time, it starts getting real old. Rage quitters are another, though with them you can never be 100% certain that they deliberately quit or something happened to them.
