6H -> j.D combos on a handful of tall characters, but i would wager that 5Sc -> j.D combos on no one. (However, I'll wait till Friday before I check that myself.)
-
some HDTVs have a "game mode" that doesn't mess with the output resolution, hence not causing any lag ^__^d
-
so i was watching some of Rikugou's matches from MAGICAL ALPSu (see the recent AC Video Posting update for the link), and he did this combo against May, into the corner: throw -> d.2K-5Sc -> j.D ... so unless i missed the memo or something, this is news to me. looks like a pretty handy link, i'd imagine it'll have uses for other combos.
-
well fancy that.
-
shrug maybe at the ggxx bbs, but nothing posted here. do you remember where you saw that?

fair enough, that's quite possible. however... i'm not so sure about that. Baiken still has 12 frames of recovery to go through, and all 6Ps become active in less than 12 frames. landing won't negate the recovery animation, AFAIK.
-
Well like I said, 6P will go through it because of the start-up invincibility (unless I'm misinterpreting the comments on the frame data). Can't he BDC through it, though?
-
not as of yet -- this stemmed from a question i made regarding one of Beru's (Bell's) last Slash vids in the 23v23 team match from GameChariot a month ago, where he used j.K on wake-up consistently enough to convince me he wasn't screwing up his tatami input. i couldn't figure out why, because it doesn't seem very safe to me, if you time it "meatily", because it will always lose to anyone's 6P. however, the ability to use j.K on okizeme may be something like a "level 2" yomi strategy. initially ("level 1"), you'd start with something like meaty j.P, or maybe even meaty j.S, which will be safe against things like 6P, uppercut, wake-up super, etc. -- i.e. wake-up (reversal) attacks that would beat j.K. Once you condition your opponent with that, then you change to doing either an empty jump-in, or a j.K. That's just my guess, though; I've never had to work through those layers of mind-games against my local competition (nor do I see this very often in match videos, even in Japanese ones), so I can't speak of this from personal experience.

The way I read Hatred Edge's question makes me think the difference between "k then 8 then H" and "K and 8 then H" is the "and", not the capitalization. If so, then there is a slight difference. You have to hit 8 when K becomes jump-cancellable -- i.e. it has to land (be it on hit or block), so that you can then jump cancel. Hitting 8 at the same time as K won't Jump Install the attack string because you technically haven't jump cancelled anything ^_^d so in short, it's "k then 8 then H".

It was made by somone called "55", and the original link to it's FileBank folder is: http://jbbs.livedoor.jp/bbs/read.cgi/game/15721/1159802679/594 (I think it's the Testament thread from the GGXX BBS, but I'm not sure.)

thx!

This reminds me -- for anyone that was watching the Beru matches from the 26v26 team matches at GameChariot a few months ago, do you know why he kept doing "meaty j.K" on okizeme? I thought he screwed up his air tatami input at first, but there were too many times where he couldn't have been trying for a tatami.
-
Shinjin: Zakuta said he got that info from the latest Arcadia magazine. Are you talking about low YZS FRC ad.j.HS against an opponent in the corner (so that the airdash doesn't take you past the opponent)? or are you already implying that YZS is low enough that the airdash will "push" you into the opponent? In either case, I can see what you're saying, but I think you may get better results by doing YZS FRC cross-up on wake-up. You might be able to airdash early to cross back over, or airdash a tiny bit late to airdash into the opponent, and you might then do either j.HS or j.S to lock them down (the way Sol will do falling j.HS or j.S on okizeme). Additionally, once you condition your opponent to expect a YZS FRC on okizeme (which may not take much conditioning, depending on how popular the tactic becomes), you could use it as a slightly expensive wake-up uppercut bait. It may not balance out, depending on how poor her ground punishment options are, though >_>) BTW, I don't see the comparison between YZS RC stuff and new YZS FRC ideas. When I attempt a TK YZS mix-up, I can usually hit-confirm on the YZS itself (if it hits, you have more than enough time to negative-edge your RC into falling tatami), so I don't see why you would try to sell YZS FRC as a better alternative to YZS RC just because one uses less tension than the other. Their uses are different. This isn't to say you're incorrect in assessing the damage possibilities from YZS FRC mix-ups; rather, the way you're trying to compare is like trying to compare "apples to oranges", so to speak.
