  1. Once you have 6+ magatams, you are looking for renka zantetsu. 2-5 is more tricky, because you will need to choose your combo depending on your location on the stage. Mid screen anything that goes into a gurren 6c finish, in the corner gurren/renka/enma all work as you are looking for the launch and j2c loop. It's all distance dependent.
  2. Just nitpicking, but rachel 6a has super armor, so it doesn't kill projectiles, it just eats it up. This is important because if you fire d fireball, you can beat it. It can eat one, but not 2.
  3. Here is a sample, I look for anything that hits and go from there. If a poke (a moves, 2b, etc), I do the shorter variation that goes poke > renka > zantetsu > 5c (for characters that can't be hit by gurren after this, such as nu, just skip 5c) > gurren > 6c If it's something heavier such as, for example, baiting correctly on a dp or something, I hammer out all my stars as, 5c or 6c > renka > zantetsu > 5c > gurren > kishuu > 5c > gurren > 6c I think that ranges from 5.4k to 7.7k damage. air counter hit jc also can go into 5c renka for a fair amount of damage.
  4. You are not trying to react to it, you are suppose to guess the opponent's move, IB it ,and then stick out your counter because you are confident you guessed it right. Nobody is going to spend time confirming that stuff.
  5. I'm in the camp that believes mugen really doesn't have any practical purposes in this game. Only time you will get to use it is if you are playing against someone who was already inferior to you. Mugen isn't exactly Blood Kain, or even taokaka's image. As for 8 magatama combos, it's best to work in renka(1) zantetsu as early as possible (like renka should come out as the second hit at the latest). Those always maximize damage.
  6. That's incorrect, that just means the people you are playing don't know how to block. Blocking has nothing to do with who you play. Nu is annoying because most of the things she does is really safe (assuming you are not just mashing). If you let these players just do what they want, they look semi-coherent. But if you apply any pressure to them at all, they crack and start mashing on 5a/2a or whatever pokes they have. That's inexperience in playing defense. Need to understand that it is ok to just sit there and IB for a little. There is no harm in letting the other person block string you, just be patient in looking for an opening to escape and punish.
  7. Electric chair is slow and way too unsafe. That's not a card, that's a gimmick. You guess right once you are going to break out at least 4k damage on her ass (and it's easy because, again, it's super armor so you can reflexively jump and block that thing and still land to punish).
  8. I backdash. It's his job to come at me, not mine to go at him. If he turtles with me, I gain meter while he doesn't. Of course if he provides opportunities for me to hit him, I go for it, but this matchup I just wait until either he decides to do something, or I have 6+ magatama to beat his face in. Only then will I go on the offensive.
  9. If she wants to spam, let her spam. Sit tight till you have 8 magatamas or something then go to town on her ass. Spammers will give you plenty of opportunities to open a combo with 6c into 7k+ damage.
  10. What do you mean even against Hakumen? Damage is the same across the board in this game. Hakumen is one of the easier targets for noel to do the ground shoot combo but that's it. Her damage has always been good, but she doesn't really have much of a safe pressure game (she has mixups/crossups, but they are all gimmicks and generally unsafe). That's her trade-off.
  11. Holy moly. I tried to play my a friend (good Jin) online instead of going over to his place. The result is that even a slight lag (couldn't have been more than 3-4F tops) was absolutely screwing me. No IB catch (actually, no IB period), not to mention 6a isn't really a cure all against Jin's Air to ground. I usually only lose slightly more, but I think I was something like 2-10, at which point I just told him I'm going over. My point? don't play this matchup online. You will get frame trapped to death against any good jin. Ow my head.
  12. He means you can work something off kishuu.
  13. My apologies, I don't actually mean Jump with auto guard, But I mean to jump and then just hold 4 and do jc when you are within range. He can't hit directly above him with second hit of d dp.
  14. First hit of D dp covers fair amount of vertical distance and hits all areas near him, with little horizontal distance. Second is all horizontal and basically can be jumped over with one jump. If you block the first hit, just jump with auto block forward and jc, he can't hit you from there.
  15. If you are still here, I can provide you with some hands-on practice using either Jin or Hakumen. Let me know if you want to play (as I finally have access to a TV).
  16. You are right, I forgot to mention that.
  17. Ragna has one way to fight hakumen, up close. Hakumen has absolutely no problem with fighting you up close. None whatsoever. And your case in point regarding not able to approach from the air makes no sense. If that's true ragna also can't approach hakumen from the air. It goes both ways, this is an out-think the other guy situation, not "omg I can't approach from air because he can dp or 6a my face". Slow Hakumen (I don't agree with that by the way) isn't a disadvantage, because he still has to be in your face to do anything. As long Hakumen's opponent is up close, he really doesn't care. Also, Ragna is a mid risk/high reward character. Hakumen immediately turns this into high risk/ mid reward. You take too many chances and hakumen will bust you open for half life. Ragna has no health. Ragna's other advantage is amazingly good normals, which Hakumen, again, doesn't care because Hakumen isn't trying to outpoke you anyways. Not to mention if you are too aggressive IB catch is free damage for hakumen.
  18. It's still knockdown. It's just that all moves in the game have testaments ex-beast properties (ground relaunch). This isn't important. Call whatever you want, but most people refer to the end of the combo knockdown as "knockdown". In combo it's just continuation, I mean, you don't even need to mention it when typing out a combo or whatever. Nobody says zantetsu into knockdown then 5c. It's just zantetsu > 5c.
  19. I suggest check some of the general suggestions from previous posts in the thread.
  20. I don't think there is a difference. It's more like back in Feb everyone did 5b. Then they realized they can do 2c. The only difference is that 2c is slower, but that should not be a problem anyways.
  21. A good Jin against quite a few top players. Watch these and figure out some match-up strategies for each would be a good starting point: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7590938 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7591241 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7591360 Enjoy.
  22. I don't mean by reaction, at least not from a neutral standpoint. Hakumen players should not catch unless they are looking for something specific. If I think a fang is coming, for example, I am looking for only fang (or something significantly slower) and will only press D if a fang comes. Otherwise I keep blocking and try to find another opening through IB or another guess.
  23. Don't try to D counter dps. If you see one coming, just block it, no need to get fancy. Catches are for Ragna's block strings and jump ins. IB something and punish. Catch gauntlet, fangs, overheads, drives. They are all relatively obvious and will look slow to you once you have enough experience (and of course, for the love of god don't panic with Hakumen and start spamming D).
  24. Yes. It's on the website I provided. Most of them are pretty self-explanatory though.
  25. She has only one overhead she can initiate with, every other one is during drive and is not registered as a first link. Confirm/Deny? Edit: Wow I completely did not finish the post With the above point, what I want to say is since she has only one overhead to deal with, you can just block low most of the time. And I want to make sure I'm right about only one overhead.
