According to Capcom's Director of Brand Marketing and eSports Matt Dahlgren, SF V will have at launch 4 new characters, 4 "we haven't seen in a while" and 8 "classic characters" (source) . Of the 4 new chars, 2 (Necali and Rashid) have been showed. All the 4 "we haven't seen in a while" were already revealed, they were all Alpha series chars (charlie, birdie, mika, karin). The only char from alpha series that isn't in sf4 or sf5 is Sodom, so he's a obvious candidate for dlcs. While mika didn't chage too much visually (just lost her bra's heart), all the others did. But the most important, the moveset of all of them have been heavily modified. Of the 8 "classics", 6 (ryu, chun, bison, cammy, ken, vega) have been reveled. Assuming that by "classic" he was refering to SF2 series, we probably won't see 3s chars at launch. But anyway, as the 4 that "we haven't seen in a while" had their moveset heavily modified, i wouldn't sit waiting for my favorite char to make a return. Even if they probably will eventually, as more chars after vanilla launch == more dlcs. The 2nd reason is because the game is scheduled just for next year, god knows in which month.

Beeing playing it for a week now, and I really liked the game. It was free, the netplay used ggpo, the characters had lot's of interesting touchs like voice act in their languages, the list goes on and on. But there's a idiosyncrasy going on there...it was marketed as begginer, pc and netplay friendly...or even more, centric. But some design decisions certainly prioritized familiarity with SF4 (and 4 in specific, not sf2, alpha or 3) over beeing beginner friendly. To say some examples, universal corner crossup, backdash short lenght and small speed, link-based combo system, design of normals utility, etc. I'm not really a begginer, so i'm ok with the game beeing this way. There's actually a lot to differentiate it from a simplified sf4 like some chars having run style- dash instead of step, or way more frequent chains. But for sure a loooot of people will feel like beeing lied to/betrayed when they notice those decisions contradicted the marketed image. Matchmaking don't work properly now and i wished it had a simple *put the ip/port of the host* instead. But for a alpha it's pardonable....the whole point of a alpha is to find and correct bugs anyway, including matchmaking. Another major complain i heard people making was that there wasn't a "minimum requirement" listed in the official site, and it's heavier than a lot of people expected. In general, i'm happy with the game, but i was kind of blessed for beeing used to play using keyboard and having win 64bits.

Have to say i agree with antonymichiru and Dusk Thanatos . It is mobaish, it is much better for people that play at home and much worse for Tournment Organizers. I would go far enought to say it's cross-tekken-ish. But...even with all of this, it's still miles better than what they tried with crosstekken gems. Ballancing for the old chars beeing given even withouth putting any more money. New chars beeing unlockable with in-game currency, or with money for instant gratification. It still creates a giant incentive for overpowered new characters, what can get ugly withj dlc. But it's not like a more "traditional" system wouldn't create it too...

yup, major simplification wasn't even in 360. Snk have done it since 1992-4, a route followed by capcom if we look at SF3 alex, HDremix and SF4 Abel. The changes in negative edge buttons hold is what's more interesting for me.

As expected, they simplified birdie imputs for specials and supers to make him more easy to use, and in compensation nerfed special proprieties. It's less visible because his normals get buffed a lot but well, i'm happy seeing him again. Birdie brings a lot of hope for other chars that we don't saw in a long time, from alpha and sf3 cast.

the most interesting for me was about netplay. Capcom tried to do their own clone of ggpo adapted for 3D in SFxT, but they taked too long to figure out how to sound syncro and ended up taking it out of the game (after that launch full of bugs). Now they suposedly figured out this and included crossplay for ps4 vs pc. They giving it a name ("Kagemusha") created some expeculation...that capcom or sony might do like ggpo, selling the netcode as part of a development kit...

So Yoshimiduka/free spended some making all attack animations for main. This taked a lot of time because he creates a different weapon with flames for each attack (all were modeled in 3D and rotoscoped to make a smooth transition betwen flames materializating in a weapon/ disapearing). https://twitter.com/yosimiduka/status/559709920795185154 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLHA5CPHArg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkpQUVNUii8 Testing combo routes for ballancing porpouses, to see what to make weaker/ stronger (won't link it here, but there's a bunch of broken things he finded and taked out of the game. Videos in his twitter.) it have some minor differences from xbla, like May Lee has grab invincibility during GCAB, much less recovery frames for GCCD. Robert&Terry can combo after MAX2, only on May. So i wouldn't say it's same, but well. Online worked perfectly so far, but i just tested with people with stable connection and <100ms. -

i think the last one is Yoishi from Phenomeno. It's a very good and short kinetic novel https://vndb.org/v10526 btw, it's very high quality and free for download. Kind of a walking banner for the light novel series of the same name. Ilustrations by Yoshitoshi ABe (same guy of serial experiments lain). There exists physical copies, but they were rare...kind of a collector product -

I would sugest trying kino or leafa. They don't depend on "chemistry" with your character to make your neutral much stronger. Characters with long range attacks - Miyuki, Kuroyukihime, Yukina- use to have a good chemistry with setup assists - Ryuuji, Koko kaga, Kojou Akatsuki, Mashiro Shiina, etc. This happen because they actually can protect the assists during activation, it's not "absolutly necessary" to score a knockdown to create setups for them. Maybe some of them can work for Misaka... No idea of what can work for Taiga, it would be better to ask a taiga player... -

it would make sense for them to put characters from famous franchise that received anime adaptations like chaos;head, stein;gates, robotic;notes...but in those titles nitro+ share copyrights with 5pb. It's not exclusively theirs...it might happen, but the legal part won't be so straightforward -

Ruili is not a heroin, what already contradict the title. Think that this is not their native language, and the english speaking community is not the intended public. It's for japanese arcades. And the public is people that already played nitro+ VNs, know and love those characters. So i still think you are taking the title too seriously. Take another examu game as a example: Daemon Bride. Even if it have "bride" in the name, just 5 out of 16 characters are females. Nobody takes the announcer lines "1st crusade: judge" and "crusade is end" to hearth too, in the same line that nobody think too deply about unib "1st clause: divide". The whole point of using characters from famous nitro+ VN is to appeal for fans of nitro+ VN. But i would agree with you if any of the examples you gave were about playstyle, instead of characters personality. Like:-characters with slower movement, but with a array of projectyles to controll the screen. -characters with normals that are slower in activation/recovery/less advantageous hitbox, but have a incredible reach. -characters with smaller, but faster normals and more mobility than the normal. etc Back to news http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/000/984/984580/ https://twitter.com/NESiCA_PR/status/549017261260808193/photo/1 rei is in japan right now too, might have some interesting comments about it in english language https://twitter.com/Reioumu -

12 years old vn, anyone remotely interested already know the plot. Nothing about it in rules about it too. I was just pointing out that "heroin" beeing in the name of the game don't mean the characters have to be heroins, or even females... -
