  1. Ideally I get to tell RK players what they are in person @ EVO, but I don't think that's going to pan out this year.
  2. Any Robot-Regulars going to EVO? I must convene the first annual, "Destroy All Humans" conference. Post up if you are.
  3. There's Family Fun Arcade in Granada Hills: 10363 Balboa Blvd Granada Hills, CA 91344 (818) 360-0419 & Arcade Infinity in Rowland Heights/Diamond Bar Plaza: 1380 Fullerton Rd Rowland Heights, CA 91748 (626) 581-4361 Those are the two big ones, especially if you're looking to play some Accent Core.
  4. This matchup can really be a pain for Robot. One of the main problems is the lack of a 'safe zone' for Robo-Ky to drop down a 2d mat for tension. This range is always dynamic as Robo has to avoid Rear EXE Beast and Front EXE Beast. These two moves, in addition to the others, many times stop Tin Man from getting enough momentum to Robo-Dash. Then there's Testament's ability to ground dash over his 2k. Also if he gets Phantom Skull'd it's Gee-Gee.
  5. Wekk pretty much covered most of it (Thanks!) but I was actually playing against a good Dizzy for the first time since #R the other night. I forgot that in Accent Core at least, if she airdashes into a Level 2 Air Missile and it counterhits, you can airdash (so you are closer upon landing) after her while she's getting wallbounced and do another one (or more). This will dizzy her. Good stuff.
  6. Good shit Wekk. Nice Forcebreak Fly Dust Combos, I <3 those. What's up with Split-Pea Robo though? I don't think you have to worry about other people stealing your color, haha. We held a mini-tournament here in SoCal last weekend with a lot of casuals afterwards. A grip of footage so I'll link to that when it has been uploaded. Dontuel wasn't there though, so no awesome Dubba Robot action. In the meantime here's a video of me pulling off the 150 hit Burst Cancel Det. Mode combo in the Anime Expo 2008 arcade. The guy really didn't know what he was doing, but at least there's video proof that it's possible for Americans to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCX3_91xKRE
  7. If you see any crazy MGS4 advertisements/billboards, snap some pics! Keep up the good work and uh.. stay safe.
  8. Level 2 SRK into J.s is decent for awhile. But not only is the SRK not that great to begin with, you have to factor in that it just cost you a few bars AND tension restrictions for awhile. Not worth it IMO. My entire playgroup is wary of it now, and any effectiveness it might have had has greatly diminished. Like Wekk, I only really use Level 3 SRK. I do sometimes try to Level 2 SRK opponents who airdash toward me.
  9. It's pretty much going to always be an OTG. The only reason it goes for as long as it does in Accent Core is because you're able to Burst Cancel the Det. Mode explosion. In Slash if you hit them with the Det. Mode explosion you would get two tension blocks, so all you had to do was 2d, 5s, 5(f)s, Punch Spam Super. Timing was really strict but it was possible. Kind of sucks because most of the time I only go into Det. Mode off a Gold Burst, making this combo not very practical for my playstyle, (and it's obviously very situational already). Still awesome though.
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-y806Vg_Pg I really wanted to be the first person to land this in a match, haha. Fun stuff.
  11. Don't really worry about the Throw FRC, proration is terrible. Watching vids versus other characters is better than nothing. Definitely try to learn BnB combos off of 2s, very important. I don't think you need to "master" 2hs Knee Rocket FRC, but it can be very effective. I posted these awhile back but (underlined means that move is blocked): - 2k, 2hs FRC, 5d. You can start this off something else besides 2k but just make sure you haven't been pushed back too far by FD and are within 5d range. - 2k, 2hs FRC, 5k, 5hs. After doing the above a few times I will bust this out. Mainly used to kill, because even on hit 5hs isn't that safe. Since 5k is standing move that hits low it's a great fakeout substitute for 5d in the first string. Unfortunately if either of the Knee Rockets actually connect and you FRC you kind of just wasted 25% tension. Still I have success with them, mainly against patient players that try to block whatever I throw at them.
  12. I don't know man, I think WE should apologize to YOU for almost ruining your weekend. That sounds pretty legendary.
  13. Thanks for the input dontuel and others, I don't have much to add. This is important as Det. Mode and 80% modes are basically the alternative ways to play Robot, not the other way around. There are many properties and strategies that can be effective with them, but I think it's worth noting that players interested in Robo-Ky should get a firm grasp on his "normal" playstyle. I have detailed information on the crazy modes in the guide, as ultimately I want to leave all options up to the player. I'd rather have too much information than too little. With that being said, feel free to post anything up. I appreciate the answers from everyone.
  14. Don't joke about WINNING STRATEGIES! I play against deci all the time so I can vouch for the effectiveness of what he has posted. For the longest time I could also vouch for the effectiveness of Robo's 5d too. Also don't use Mappa or 2d as openers. Dontuel found that Robot can open with 5k spam to stuff either of these, while having ample time to react to most anything else.
  15. Oh no doubt. I'm just saying you'll probably have more success by not using either of those modes. By all means play him how you want to. I'm going to post a big batch of Robo videos soon hopefully.
  16. Use neither and your Robo-Ky will be a lot better, heh. Pretty much.
  17. Haha, actually I've had success with this. But I do a backdash right after the FRC first.
  18. Level 3 Horsie floats on hit, you can follow up quickly with a 5hs FRC combo. Even though you said ground to air game, J.s counterhit also bounces, allowing you to land then 5hs FRC~whatever. Normally you should take the knockdown, but if they are blocking you can try something like 5k, 5s, 2p, Bazooka/2hs. If your opponent is FD'ing though many times you'll have to improvise.
  19. I'm banning you from the Robo-Ky forum Chris, haha. As long as your reason for not playing it isn't, "ITZ TOO KIDDY!!" TGS: The loss of desync kind of sucks. Now it's all about summoning a gigantic glacier to fuck people up for you.
  20. SNAKE + C4 = EVERYONE LOSES Yeah that's right, I'm shittalking about Brawl. Believe.
  21. Yes. Dontuel was telling me you can also SRK after IB'ing. I don't get to play against many ABAs unfortunately.
  22. Awesome, thanks Max.
  23. That is kind of the whole problem. Try to turtle up on a mat and get enough tension to Level 3 SRK any holes in his pressure. Even then it's tough. I play some good Zappas every once and awhile, but I definitely need more practice with this matchup.
  24. Awesome man, thanks.
  25. Yes, it's more like a "while you are kind-of in the area" deal. Thai food is good and spicy though so you can't go wrong there.
