koogs: if the opportunity presents itself ill see what I can do, but that shit aint free, hit me up on paypal stormlocke: well... snake was cloned from bigboss, its not actually his "father", and since they look identicle I sorta didnt notice at the time when I took the picture. 50 bucks you say? Wow... thats extremely cheap, but the shipping price is insane, but doesnt really surprise me considering how much it actually does cost to ship stuff overseas, espessially something that size. If they were still selling it id buy it and put it in my apartment. Imagine how funny id look taking a 3 hour train ride home with a giant big boss statue next to me

ah ok I see. I will check my arcadia and try to post the information for you before you leave for Japan. Do you just want tournaments that will be in Tokyo or do you want me to search for stuff in Chiba and Saitama as well since they are sorta close?
-
well if you are fluent in Japanese and can read a lot of Kanji you can check the guilty gear BBS, but my Kanji is too limited to read it and I was told by someone who can read it that the board is very unorganized and you have to dig through it and work to find things sometimes. If you are in Japan it would be wise to pick up an Arcadia, they arnt that expensive. I didnt have time to check last night. Are you in Japan or something?

Hellmonkey, there will be vids, they had TVs hooked up to the cabs so im sure they were taping it as they ussually seem to do. I doubt my matches will end up on there since I think they ussually just take the top 3 or 4 but youll see Isa for sure. As far as events between the 19th and 25th, im sure there is something, i didnt mark it down since ill be in chicago that weekend but I can check my arcadia later, im at work now though so... Current has a huge variety of music, anything from like death metal and black metal, to power metal, to progressive metal, to oldschool speed metal, to classic rock, to hair bands, to jam bands, to punk. It really depends on whos DJing at the time. Most of the time they play bands I like so its cool.

you need a bachelors by the time the job starts, so since the job starts in august, if you are going to graduate next summer then you can still apply, you just need to have your school write you a letter stating that you will have your degree by that time

regarding JET, all the stuff other people posted is pretty much correct. i have a degree in economics, it doesnt matter what you majored in. for application info just go to the jet program website, just do a google search and it has all the info you need on there. applications will be due soon though so hurry if you plan to try. with money, sometimes I dont quite spend that much, like this past weekend I only spend like 150. most of it goes to booze and arcade money. it adds up when you play at the arcade for like 10 hours a day and it sometimes costs 100 yen per play. every time I win a match I basically save myself 100 yen. blog will be updated later today

well i dont really do any drinking during the week and i only play guilty gear on weekends, during the week I have a pretty normal and regular schedule, get enough sleep and stuff, so my body can handle 2 or so days of drinking and playing with not much sleep adapting to life here didnt take long, i pretty much knew what to expect anyway, i dont think I ever really went through culture shock or whatever being an ALT is easy, i only teach a few classes a day and spend most of my time studying japanese and sitting online, i recommend it
-
yea i spend about 200 bucks every weekend, but i also make 3 grand a month and dont pay taxes on my earnings "ballin'" indeed...
-
depends, if you count everything like food, booze, arcade money, lodging and traveling costs, I spend about 20,000-25,000 yen on average every weekend, sometimes more sometimes less depending on various factors

Yo Matt, so it seems like I will be going to the tournament afterall. The sportsday at my school is only in the morning until 11:40 so I have the rest of the day to do whatever. I should arrive in Tokyo sometime around 4pm maybe... tournament starts at 7 so its all good
-
i dont know exact prices for all those, i havnt bought a stick here since i already had one but I recommend going to Akihabara if you will be in Tokyo, there are tons of game and electronic stores and im sure you can find everything you would want
-
blaaa........ my vice principal of my base school just asked me to come to a sports day at the school this saturday and I couldnt really say no... so it looks like I wont be going to Tokyo this weekend. Matt, you should go to the Las Vegas tournament anyway though, goodluck, and hopefully nothing will come up and I will be able to make it to the DF2 finals the following weekend

manga/internet cafes (manga kisa) are common for people to sleep in. If you go in there at night at least half the people in there are sleeping. You ussually will pay about 1000 to 1500 yen for about 6 hours of sleep which beats paying for an entire hotel room by yourself. They vary but you ussually get a nice comfy recliner chair or sometimes even your own private booth with cushions. You ussually always get a computer with internet to use as well but sometimes you get a nicer chair if you just request to be there for manga and no internet. they have tons of manga you can just take off the shelves and read but i always just go there to sleep. sometimes they even have showers but its rare and ussually theres a long waiting list. ill try to take a picture next time of the place where i sleep hah and alex, i was pretty bummed after losing but being bummed isnt gonna make me better so im gonna have to shake that shit off and try again, even if they keep knocking me down ill come back for more until i dont suck anymore. also, i dont think most japanese watch US match videos, i think maybe combo videos are an exception. I dont think most japanese players can even name the top US players except for the ones that go to EVO
