  1. Only real answer is to play footsies. Honestly, without poking, you're not going to win against any experienced player. You need to learn when to poke, and when to grab, and that's really it. I recommend going into training mode and try whiff punishing and using pokes at different ranges and see what works. You've never really had to hit confirm, and it's one of the most essential skills in fighting games. Get into online matches and just throw buttons out until you learn when to poke and with what. Sounds like you don't pressure with normals much either. Learn tick throw setups, blockstrings, high/low mixups, etc. It's worth mentioning that Tager's normals are not that slow or clunky like you claim (except his anti-airs, which are clunky. Especially 2C). 6B and 6C are, because they're not meant to be used in neutral, but 5A, 2A, 5B, 2B and 5C are relatively fast pokes. Not lightning fast, but fast enough, and hardly clunky. Chances are you are just not familiar enough with their properties, which is cool, because you haven't really used them much. Know your ranges, know some situations, and use the right poke at the right time. Don't know what that is? Experiment. You don't play online to win, you play online to learn. A Tager without normals isn't a Tager worth playing, our tools are lacking, use them all!
  2. By being Tager, who relies almost exclusively on hard reads, lending him to be pretty explosive. It's an arguable point, one I probably shouldn't have brought up because it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things
  3. Sorry for the doublepost, but the quote formatting is throwing me off. Here's a setup I threw together based off the new 5A change. I can't get the 6C>RC>720C to work with 50 meter used because I have, as Futurama would call it, "Stupid Fingers". If you can get the technique down, it's practical. 5A>5B>3C>6A>2C>Atomic Collider>623D>6C>RC [Hold Forward]>720C https://vine.co/v/MHihrh2iJVP VineCombos
  4. The more I play with the new 5A change the more I come to peace with it. You can do some really tricky resets with the horrible proation. I've gotten some interesting setups with 5A>5B>3C>Atomic Collider(Whiff)> 6A>2D(whiff)>720. I think out of everything it's the change I'm more surprised at being comfortable with, since 5A nerf made poking out of block strings and for pressure a much less rewarding option. Overall, my resets are actually MORE successful since the change than without it. I think I would have preferred the raw damage and meter, but in the end it's a change I can live with. Backdash and meter from Gadget Finger I'm still having trouble coping with though. Backdash is still good on reaction against moves like Gauntlet Hades/Blood Scythe that make it so they can't RC the move. But, every character (probaby?) can OS his backdash on Tager's wakeup for a punish now. Just not very good. Blocking in this game is too tough to have 0 options without 50 meter, especially when it's relatively easy to start pressuring Tager. [v] A bit of a joke, somewhat serious. Bullet isn't better than Tager because of her command grab game, just because of her other tools. More consistent. Tager's command grab game is still obviously the best.
  5. i want to be the dog
  6. someone on my facebook told me "bullet is a better grappler now than tager" and i died a little inside, because he's right
  7. Changes to Tager are complete garbage. Backdash change means that most of our defensive options are gone so we have to block mixups and meaties with no real solution except maybe Counter Assaulting out (a huge problem in this game). Gadget Finger no longer giving us heat really hurts Oki, since RCing Gadget is much more reliable than raw Gadget oki. 5A nerf is just dicks, but workable. 2D change helps but nobody was really asking for it and it doesn't address the character's problems. This character is even more balls than before. While you can certainly win with him, his gameplan is so reactive. Without backdash people can just run their game on him and he has to hold that, and unless you're Grandia that is insanely difficult to fight against.
  8. This is old, but I have trouble with 2DD 22A specifically. What helps me is to do 2D 5 2D 5 2A. Basically return to neutral after each 2 press. The rhythm helps me a lot and makes the combo much more consistent, and not needing to double tap down just makes it easier in general.
  9. I'm switching to v13 from Tager and while in training mode I found some instant overhead tech (that's apparently new, so excuse me if this is a repost). I'm fresh to the character so I have no idea how to convert it into real damage, but here's the clip https://vine.co/v/M5TF6q1HiQ0 Luna: 623C RC 5A 3C etc Dia: 623C RC 5C 3C etc Less Ambiguous (works in both): 623C RC dash j.B j.C 3C etc Works in both Dia and Luna mode, seems more ambiguous in Luna but the timing is more strict. Works midscreen and in the corner, but you probably get more damage in the corner. You need to be very deep for the instant 5A(Luna)/5C(Dia) to hit, however if you're at a distance dash j.B will work no matter where you're at. Feel free to play around with it
  10. She looks really low tier to me. maybe mid tier. possibly high tier. anyways these are my expert opinions
  11. Tager because he's a fucking man. And I'm a sucker for good voice acting
  12. Listen Skyheart I just want to play whatever game will let me slam people into the fucking earth while a bunch of nerds nod their head in approval
  13. This is all dumb regardless because we're all basically saying "Yes, Arc System Work BB team can't balance worth shit". The top tiers in this game are really top tier. The middle tiers in this game are super mediocre. The bottom tiers are garbage. That's what happens when instead of tweaking frame data and hitboxes for 4 years you instead make sweeping changes to move properties every version and add like 4 specials per character. It's not favoritism it's bad game design. If anything is "Favoritism" it's that they accidentally gave characters like Litchi and Hazama every tool in the book, and god forbid they take anything away. It's impossible for those characters to be bad. It's not really "let's play favorites", it's "oops we made a character that has everything. Oh well"
  14. Bullet has one of the slowest normal overheads in the game at 24 frames, while Hazama has one of the fastest at 22 frames. This Is Bullshit There is no "Favoritism", Arc System Works is just bad at balancing the game. Welcome to anime, pick a top tier, or pick a low tier and be good enough not to get hit.
  15. Potemkin is bad. anime grappler struggle continues to be real
  16. If the question isn't "should we ban Kokonoe" but "how do we get everyone to accept that we should ban Kokonoe" I think we already have our answer. We're a tight knit community, I don't think it would be that difficult, and there's enough crossover between America and Japan where that wouldn't be a huge issue. Besides, Japan is just as sick of her as we are. EDIT: I'm not saying this is a clear cut answer. I know a lot of people don't want to ban her. I just think the game was much better without her, and therefore why not just get rid of her.
  17. I'm not sure this is such a difficult question. People look at her matchup situations, and she has some 5.5-4.5's, or 5-5's. More importantly, she has some hard 7-3's if not 7.5-2.5s. This matters, but the real question is: is Blazblue Chrono Phantasma a better game without Kokonoe. The idea that this thread even EXISTS suggests that this may be the case. Personally, I think that the game is vastly improved without her in it. She's too dominant a character, and high-execution is a barrier to entry we can only rely on for so long. How long until the high-tier American players like BananaKen and Ivysaur become equivalent or surpass Tsujikawa? How long until people learn to adapt to the matchup by picking the few characters that can actually compete and only see 4-5 characters? She hurts character variety and makes a game that already feels like it lacks neutral game even moreso. I also don't buy the slippery slope argument some are presenting that banning Kokonoe sets a bad precedent. Who cares. We are a group of adults, just because we ban 1 character for disrupting the longevity and fun of a game doesn't mean that we can't look at other situations with an objective eye. Shit we had a 20+ page argument about banning GuiltyGear macros (which, for the record, I was against stupidly), which LITERALLY ALLOWED YOU TO HAVE FRAME-PERFECT TIMING EVERY TIME ALWAYS. I'm pretty sure the anime community isn't looking at this lightly. There's nothing wrong with banning a character if it's for the betterment of a game. Tournaments are a community event, and if as a community we gather together to fight poor design decisions of the developer so be it. Final Destination No Items Fox Only Mother Fuckers
  18. how can I be as manly as kanji
  19. the best tool in this matchup is to choose unlimited mode and see if they notice
  20. Word, I'll update it. Thanks for the tips. Also in the process of making the guide less wordy
  21. I'm unsure how acceptable it is to self-promote on other sites, but I wrote a Highlander Guide on PS3Trophies, viewable here http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/blazblue-chrono-phantasma/214780-highlander-mode-help-thread.html . It's not perfect and needs heavy editing/proof-reading/Touch-uping (I'm garbage at combo notation, also Nu-12), and is missing a few characters, but if anyone's struggling glance over it. Also I can't believe I wrote a fucking 5 page FAQ about a stupid trophy.
  22. i personally think video games should be hard as fuck with no fun allowed. if you are a new player who uses pad macros because you haven't figured out how to adapt to 10+ year old control schemes you should just be banished to a hole in the floor while the execution bros drink nattie light and spit on you
  23. woops not sure why I said that. That said in the current game I'm pretty sure I haven't hit an AoA midscreen in months.
  24. Maybe that means we can combo off AoA now with a OMC? Also was it me or was it 18 hits instead of 16 hits? I can see AoA -> j.C (OMC) -> delayed j.B -> 2B -> 236C or something similar? Either way I super expect it to be possible, can't wait to get into the lab and try things out. AoAs not leading to oki midscreen was kind of a bummer.
  25. Oh hey, air 5C fatal counters cause a long hard knockdown now, unless that was a stupidly late tech
