Now that The Best Gear is finally out, I figured we should get the bubble rolling on her! Some new things I've noticed since +R: RIP j.2S Mirror Super (632146P) reflects projectiles and is invul, like you'd expect. But it just clashes with DPs as far as I can tell. 2D no longer jump cancelable (but can still go nto Ice/Fire Spike). I'm preferring using her Ice Spike over Fire Spike (2s, c.s, f.s, 5h, 2d, 236s) then fish and re approach per usual. Her Ice/Fire Scythe YRC is sweet. You can instantly YRC and have plenty of time to right/left mixup them. I've also been running into a bug where after p fish hits once, I grab them, and the fish stays on the screen until I do another one, where it then bites, and goes away. I'm able to repro it about 50% of the time in training mode.

Hey guys, So I recently moved to the Seattle area from the east coast, and I want to get seriously into Xrd. I used to be big into Reload/AC, as I traveled multiple hours all the time to play with people and would do well in tournaments. I'm not sure of the scene in this area, but I've got a PS4, past skill and want to jam and learn all the new stuff with other like-minded people Thanks guys!!

Hey guys, I recently just moved to Seattle, and with the release of Xrd I'm in some sore need of some game time with RL people. I'm a super old GG guy and used to drive many many hours to play Xrd with good competition. What's the best way to get in touch with people? I'm just posting here because I don't know how to find a scene up in these here parts.

jin[kr] : Her fastest poke is of course 5a with 6 frames (only one faster is Ragna's with 5), but usually I just do 5b, as it's 7 frames, then you can go into 2C, 6C. If it hits, do 236D, Rapid Cancel it if you have meter, into combo (5DD, 6DD, 2DD, j.DD, dj.DD, j.214D, or if the C's are blocked, then you can Act Pulsar either back or through them. Of course in that air combo, you can sub the air combo of 2C, C, 2C, C in place of the j.DD's. Also, she's got 3 good AAs, 2DD : they have to be a little far away, but if they block, you're safe as you can just use your godly backdash. 2C during this move your hit box is fairly low to the ground, so it makes it a fairly good anti air, since it has a long active time. You just have to watch out that certain moves to beat it, and if the other person baits it, you're doomed. However, it does clash often, and every time I've ever clashed with it, I've lost and got combo'd for 1/2 my life. Arakune's j.B beats this clean because of that reason. 6A. This move has an 11 frame startup, but is Head invincible from 5-13 making it an excellent anti air against most moves that people use when they IAD at you (Jin's scarf, Ragna's j.C). But is the hardest to time, so practicing this move is vital. After all of them, you can go directly into your basic air combo of j.C,j.2C,j.C,j.2C,214D, after 6A, do 2C directly after you hit them with it. the 2DD takes some spacing, so you might have to eliminate the first j.C. Mamation: I guess you mean "Invincible moves"...most moves are visible =). But her only one is 632146D, and even then you're only invincible for the first 7 frames, There's a total 13 frames startup, so you can still get hit, but the super will come out regardless. After Jin's slashy thing (which shouldn't be used too often anyway), if you block it, I think you can do 5C for a few hits (if you do too many they get pushed too far back) into 6C then 236D, which again, you should rapid if you have meter into the air combo. I've only got an Xbox and I'm about to pick up my copy. After living and breathing BB for like 4 days straight I kinda wanted to take a break, but once I get mine, I'll be happy to help anybody with whatever they can do improve their Nu game. the 5DD -> 4DD timing can be a little tricky, mashing always works (but is not recommended), you just gotta learn when the timing is. Usually I try to hit confirm my 5DD, either into j.DD (if they just became airborne when I used 5DD) or into Act Pulsar if it hits them, and they're at the right distance to combo into 2C, 6C, 236D. Jugiatsu: The only thing I can thing of is that the Nu player Rapid Canceled the first 2 wheels, so that she could use another one directly after you blocked the first one. Kind of a waste of Meter, really.

Alright, so I finally got to experience ν-13 for a long period of time, so I'd like to share my thoughts on her. Sorry for the long post. I decided I'd first play as her when I first saw her at the end of Noel's story mode the weekend BB first came out (Playing at Game Galaxy at Nashville!). That was of course if she was even going to be a playable character! I played as her for a while, learning basic stuff, but last weekend we had the BB cabinet in Lexington for the entire weekend, so I really got the hang of her in about my 20 total hours of playing just her, I think I got the feel of how she plays in high-level comp. I used her against most of the cast, and the people I were playing defined their characters pretty well. Jais,Kyle,Alphakami,JackG,TheSlymoogle, and Zinac among others were there repping their characters. This is pretty much how I feel about her. She is top tier, but by no means the "Sagat" of BB. The main thing about her is her ability to pressure, and mixup at long range (i.e. other side of the screen) No other character in fighting games can really do this, at least as well as she can. This is where most people cry foul (a long range overhead? BEROKEN!) But the key thing is that you can't play against her as you can most characters. Because she's a threat at any distance (especially long range), which changes the fight completely. She has a long range overhead, but after a few rounds of it, it is easily reacted to. The only time you can't is when you are in the corner, and it's all but impossible to see, that one is tricky, you have to watch Nu to see what she is doing. The main advantage is that you're able to react to other characters, and can attack them when they have no way to counter attack. Say you went in for a throw, and the other character broke it. Now you both are even. As Nu, you can wait for a split second and see what the opponent does. if they stand still 5D for pressure. if they jump, 6D (even if they guard it it's still safe). If they run at you, 5C -> 6C and act pulsar out of there. It's pretty much a win-win situation for you (barring certain things of course, supers, and dashing forward too quick for you to react are some of them). No other character has this kind of advantage. The other thing is that guessing wrong with Nu often has no repercussions. Say you're at full screen and you 5D. They jump right before the attack, and dash. Oh well, you've recovered by then, so no harm done. They actually got in on you? You have 1 burst. Use it. And Nu benefits the greatest from it, as they're right back into your mixup game of 5D, 236D, 4D, and act pulsaring in to throw/attack from both sides. If they do get in on you, if you can manage an attack, you act pulsar to the opposite side of the screen. There's no way for an opponent to counter that (They can counter you when you act pulsar for close range mixup, however). Also, against Tager, Nu has an incredibly easy fight. Backdash rules in that fight. even if you are magnetized, backdashing constantly avoids anything Tager can do to you. You only have to worry about the sledge. If you bait it, you get a free combo, if Tager baits it, you are still safe if you are on the completely opposite side of the screen. This is just completely unfair to Tager. Basically to counter Nu's primary method of attacking at long range (5D). Just dash forward, it wrecks her. You can cry foul to her long range attacks, but if you guess a 5D or 4D is coming (not a 4D after a 5DD) dash forward and combo away, of course this only works with certain characters. So, in all. Nu is a very, very strong character, and she doesn't even have as steep a learning curve as I think she should have. But mindgames work against her as they do every other fighting game character in the history of the genre. You just have to learn the matchup, and it's very tricky. Almost like you must learn how to deal with Baiken's counters, learning the Nu matchup is paramount to victory, much more so than the other characters. So that's my $0.02. For something completely different, I usually punish things (or use this as my guard crush combo). 3D,214A,2C,j.C,j.2C,j.214D,land,2B,2C (1 hit),j5DD,214C. Then perhaps RC if you need a bit more damage into 6C -> air combo. Is this the best she has? or can somebody think of something better? Goryus, you're going to Austin this weekend right? Hope to see you there! I'd like to meet you and hang out if that's cool. Your Nu is sweet.

Man, I remember seeing the Kihon video a while ago. I love the music people put to Baiken Combo Vids. Hadn't seen Komorebi before though? Hmm I wonder if working j.H -> Tatami is worth working in to any real combos... I only ever start off combos with that.

Google Knows more than you would think..

You and your Loli's. If they're not a Loli, they are sick. If they're not a Loli or sick, they are pantless. Play real Characters, like Girls with swords or guns (Baiken,Kamui,Ciel,Noel) ...wait all my mains are girls with sword/guns.
-
So...nobody posts in the Baiken forum anymore? Any new combos, or ANYTHING? Or is this Her swan song? /cry
-
man that sucks, I still have like 4 of your movies opened in firefox. I'll never close them!
-
He uses the chain a lot more than I do...and RC yzns more..hmm maybe I should start using those more...

Wow, so I've been practicing may for the past 7 hours. I'm so sick of her... I'm just having trouble finding ways to get in, besides a hoop set, or running in OHK or 5k... Your May guide is freaking awesome Kyle. It's hard though trying to figure out what works with her against a cpu, I hate fighting them. Hopefully when I head up there you can help me out some, I basically just want to get the basics down so you can toughen me up a bit ^^.
-
Wow, some nice games. SH_ playin' Eddie! Tier whore! jk I love all the Axel's he's cool to fight/watch.I respect him and the people who play him. (woo! go Chernell!) Btw Kyle, I played a good set against Azure Phoenix's May, and man, I could barely scrape out any wins! I think all I could do was hope for a j.s hit. That fella's good. He's got me scared of May now...

I like to blow my 100% tension on 5 VT loops with Ky followed with a call lightning. Is that so wrong?
-
did I SAY 50% Tension? No way ya'll. THAT'S HOW I ROLL. I KNOW when they're gonna block low, I can feel it. After 'nam, you get a kinda 6th sense about danger...and if they block high or low. edit:course I meant wit tension, 50% at least, 25% if you're good...

Nice videos, even though I didn't quite watch all of them, just May/Po. You gotta be agressive with Baiken! She doesn't have the health, and against an uber tier GG player (not character) they can bait your stuff like nothing. Most of what you need to work on was already covered. I'll just add my initial thoughts. Mix it up on the Oki, like I saw tons of c.k's. That's def. a good one, but I usually pull from that, throwing, blocking then throwing if they do nothing, TK YZN, IAD crossup j.s -> j.d. Usually that's enough. Your counters, of course all Baikens will say to not rely on your counters, but you need to know which ones to do, and when you can do it. i.e. if the attack stays out long enough for you to get a counter hit anchor counter, or if nothing else, kick counter to mix things up (good for screwing up button inputs for the opponent, if nothing else). yeah, just keep practicing with Baiken, learn to hit confirm, and how to pick up on random counter hits that let you get free air combos. In short, DON'T BE DEFENSIVE. Rush that %^&* down! This is of course, just a scrubby Baiken's opinion.

The Good, the Bad, and Ugly as Hell Baiken Matchups
Linuka replied to THE SERAPHIC 1's topic in Baiken
I'd say your best (And safest bet) is just to use the K counter and dash around him, watch him have his conniption fit, then punish him with some good 'ol B&B when he lands (Or do an air combo if you want to save some tension). Of course, that's just what I do against the Espadas. A good chipp would only ever even consider to do that move if it was to punish you, and you shouldn't be open at all! -
Alright, here are some pictures that I also took, sorry for the slight blurryness, I don't know how to work these newfangled whatchyamacallits. Btw, thanks mamation for the good pictures, and the match movies. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0132.jpg When he's not beasting people, he's on the phone talking about how us stupid Americans can't hit buttons fast enough. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0095.jpg Took your picture taking a picture! http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0094.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0125.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0124.jpg Finals!!! http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0075.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0118.jpg Ryan Bill and Isaac's power levels are too much for mere mortals to comprehend http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0088.jpg Best US Baiken and Eddie goin' at it http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0128.jpg Marn and his crazy PJ Pants... http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm102/LinukaGG/PICT0126.jpg Stone didn't bring his A game...

We should only play The Valentine Pink Ky today. Or everyday. Mamation does.
-
We should all play with only the Pink haired Baikens Today. As it's Valentine's Day. (Baiken's Day! She's pink!!)

Quick thought: After you do her 6K when they wake up, I usually follow it up with a 2HS, and then 2D,mat loop. Is there a better option than that? I just do what comes natural, I'm sure there's something better though. Also, is it possible to follow up the Dust Baku with a combo, as opposed to one of the stupid counters, that take 25% MORE Tension for (arguably) little payoff for the tension? Heh, thanks (once again) btw, my dust simply consists of D,j.s,j.s,j.s,D,j.s,D,D (if they're properly aligned, of course)
