  1. Ragna will always be called braindead because people are somehow unable to divorce the idea of "easy to play" from "easy to win with". Doesn't matter in the long run. Is it really that hard to find footage of good Ragna, or is it just hard to find footage of good players in general? Maybe our standards are too high? As far as kaqn goes, I once heard him described as basically being the best that a scrub could ever get. Still a scrub, but a maxed-out, cream-of-the-crop scrub.
  2. Nah, there will be an arcade version mook and then they will sometimes do an updated one for the console version. This was true with GG in a couple of cases. In any case, release usually takes a few months.
  3. Not to mention cancel into OD reduces the time, as mentioned. I'm thinking the juicy stuff will probably come from doing RC combos into OD activations. Stuff like HF > Tsuika > RC > OD or 2D > RC > OD.
  4. On counterhit you can do better stuff anyway.
  5. Sure. I still need to see an advisor for next semester, and times available for that are painfully short, but I'm sure I'll have a couple of free days to play.
  6. I dunno about his own tier, but yeah, that could have been really good...maybe that's why they wouldn't let us do it. =/
  7. HARA was consistenly doing 6A > HF, but only off of 5B in situations where he was either 100% or at least fairly certain he would hit the other guy. I don't think he ever got a 6A blocked.
  8. pktazn posted the full Hachiouji stream that featured HARA Ragna, got to see a few more combo routes which look interesting. Namely using 2D > RC midscreen into run up 3C > 22C > DC > DS > DC > 5C etc etc. I was really surprised that worked from so far away, amazing corner carry.
  9. Sol is easy, straightforward, bit limited though. Hardest thing you will have to learn is GF FRC (not too tough), along with combos (most of these are easy too, but take practice).
  10. Yeah, but he's like the Eddie of the game. Eddie was bad in what, one iteration? Even then, he wasn't bad.
  11. That's the thing, they almost always seem to go out of their way with things that are "potentially" too good. End result is a weaker end product.
  12. While a pure theory approach says this change is bad, I think it allows for use of the move in more situations, at least. Before, it was basically only for combos, and most of those combos had specific spacing requirements and were also character-specific. Now if you use the move as a long range poke, you get a better reward for it, since at that range you usually didn't get a combo anyway unless you burned meter. I wouldn't call it a positive change, more of a neutral one? Trade off damage potential for more versatility, I guess.
  13. ...just hit the Circle button, sir.
  14. I didn't say it was bad. I don't even think it's bad compared to most ODs, since most characters either don't use OD or use it sparingly. There are maybe 4 characters who I see use it regularly, which would be the three I mentioned above and Tsubaki. In which case I'd say it's more that those characters' ODs are significantly better than most, rather than Ragna's being worst than most. The combos players use concern me though. In most cases, I'd say his damage looks, well, weak. Like CT levels for his average damage, which isn't good when I see other characters usually dealing more.
  15. Azrael has a CT. I've seen it in combo videos, mostly.
  16. It's not as versatile as some of the other ODs (can only really be used either in a combo or as a reversal), and it's more difficult to use in combos than other ODs because Ragna doesn't have as many moves that create a stun state where he doesn't have to cancel into OD (cancelling into OD shortens the time). Compare that to Jin or Hakumen or Makoto, who all have ways to combo into a raw OD, and consequently are the characters you see the most OD combos for so far. In Hakumen's case, his OD is also versatile in that he can just use it outside of combos to give himself a meter boost.
  17. Monday is my last day of classes for this semester, so after that I'll be free most of the time until January.
  18. Feels like nobody really understands how to use it properly yet. I've only seen one combo use it so far, every other time it's been used in some desperation situation and ended up getting the Ragna player killed.
  19. Or you could just pretend you're playing Sol and not worry about high/low mixups until you knock someone down. Of course, Ragna has no command grab, but his neutral is about 100x better than Sol's.
  20. From video observation, air version of lvl2 BRP doesn't cause slide down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5MeLmV02XU&t=2m25s Also here's the combo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5MeLmV02XU&t=16m36s Damage isn't super high or anything, but at the range/positioning, it might have been the strongest thing available to him that would still give a hard knockdown.
  21. It literally feels like watching every character in this game is like watching vanilla MvC3 Dante with a different skin. So many untechable knockdowns, so much stuff that OTGs, EVERYTHING seems to either grant a knockdown or juggle state, etc etc. And yes, Chain Shift is really dumb.
  22. lvl2 BRP does cause slide, it's really short though. You usually can't follow it up unless the opponent is cornered, and if it's on a standing opponent, you typically seem to only get a 5K to land in time, and it's a tight link. That's why I posted what Sanma was doing, because it shows that on an airborne opponent, you have more time to land other hits. I don't know if the air version of lvl2 BRP causes slide, though, so reaVer's combo idea might not even be feasible in that case.
  23. Agreed, those were really weaksauce.
  24. Ok, seriously?!? Just look at that Hyde combo at the end of the first match in that vid. Nuts.
  25. WolfCrimson: It's ACR reaVer: I'm just saying what I saw, remember that in ACR lvl2 Rock It also causes knockdown. As for that combo you posted, have you seen it done in a video? Has someone posted it on JBBS? Just curious, as it looks a bit too long to be reliable.
