Good post Uncivilized Elk. If I can be even more extremist, I'll add I don't like Millia new design. It's not the hat that bothers me, but the arms. On her past stance Millia's arms where clothed in black and near her body so we would not see them well, with one arm falling/moving like it was dislocated. It was for a simple reason: to give the feeling that Millia had no arms or that her arms where not efficient or an important part of her body. The naked legs + the hair moving freely were her body parts instead of the classic legs + arms and the white cloth with just a line on it made a link between the hips/legs and the head/hair. Now Millia has "normal" arms on her stance and ironically, her arms now feels normals but her hair strand is rigid, like a blade. It changes the character, has if she passed from someone that endorsed a new body type and may use it as a weapon to someone who use exclusively this part of her body has a weapon. The black leggins also reduces the importance of her legs while the orange tries to give a flashy tone on a character that was very reserved. It may be a story thing, as if millia finally changed from her past self. But from a design point of view, even if it doesn't matter in the enjoyment we'll get from the game, it's a step backward in intelligent design. -

Sorry about not being very specific. I watched the game too, and saw that, in my opinion and little knowledge of the game, and think that some characters are great evolution of their #R versions (like Chipp, Venom, Eddie) and others are not very interesting (Sol, Faust...). I watched some matches where they were starting to "get" the blitz shield in use too, bit since you can't do it from the gard position, you can't get out of the new eddie setups that were found out a few days ago. That's the kind of information I search : are the new mechanics working as intended, what are the flaws that were noticed. Things like that. -

Hey people, I didn't followed a lot the game since the early weeks and I was wondering how the gameplay was evolving? I remember reading somewhere that YRC were not a good idea after all, or with some problems related to option selects, or things like that ? Can someone help me sum what's going on in the game? -

Hey guys. A friend went to the location test and made some videos. I didn't have much time to upload them until now, so here you go. The quality is very good. -
The problem is not the people, it's the games and their creators. Games like SFIV of UMVC3 are made with comeback mechanics that are not only mechanics in the game. They are mechanics made to manage ego and attention. If the ultra exists it's not because the game wants to be unfair/stupid on purpose, it's because he wants the player to feel he is important and must be feared. Ultra in SFIV is a way for Capcom to keep the "uneducated" folk playing, because if the ultra works, they feel great ; if the ultra didn't work, they feel that at least they tried and rematch. And if the ultra works but you still lose, at least you have the feeling you did "something important, almost a full comeback" when the reality for all this is : the game offers you a free super that required no management, is invincible, and do a lot of damage. And for the spectator it's like the pinnacle of the match, the moment you wait even more than the KO. The bar is full, it's flashing, they are flames. All you want to see is this bar empty. X-factor works the same but is more oriented for spectators, even Niitsuma said it. It's not as simple as the ultra because it needs management and skill to be used, so it's not about respecting the ego of the player. It's made on purpose to create comebacks artificially, so the player not knowing a lot the game have the feeling he is watching something exciting and great and unique. Now that the game is aging, most of the people are getting bored because they feel it's artificial. It's like this new pop singer designated as the NEW MARYLIN that lasts 3 months and is replaced by someone else. People get bored and that's why we are getting bored by UMVC3 (among other problems). So actually, the real problem is the games. You have a feeling of greatness and importance much faster, your ego is much more respected with current gen games and it's a double cutting sword. The pleasure begins to fade a lot faster than older games. And most of the game creators do not know how to teach games to players and the public. Doing tutorials is ok for the player but stupid for the spectator as he can't do them. So you have to put an education vibe into you mechanics so even a noob can understand them and their effects without them being broken/safe/invincible. Needless to say there is room for improvement.

Among these players, we see many french renowed players, but eLive invited a much more famous player directly from Japan to give a bit more challenge to the tournaments. This famous player is RF ! http://arcsyshow.wordpress.com/english-info/ What is ArcSys Show ? An event dedicated to Arc System Works games located in the tournament area of the Stunfest 2001 (Rennes, from April 29 to May 1). His Goal is to popularize Arc System Works games among players and casuals. Regular players and organizers will be present to help new players to progress, organize tournaments and promote encounters. How is it different from a normal tournament held in the Stunfest ? Unlike classic tournaments, organizers (that are also players), will provide visitors with a dedicated space for their favorite games. It means games will be more visible, the planning is independent from the Stunfest planning, letting us doing tournaments (and finals) at the time we want, and if players want it, a bigger flexibility to organize challenges or demos directly on the scene. Freeplay is also provided to people who do not participate in the tournaments so they can discover the games and chat with regular players. Our goal is to promote mutual aid, discovery, encounters. Skilled players can help new ones to progress but also play peacefully and progress more. Tournaments fees are not expensive because we do not want to force players to choose between two tournaments. Many Guilty Gear players also plays Blazblue but do not participate in tournaments, and the contrary is also true. We want these two communities to meet each other and share their differences and similarities. The Arcana Heart tournament, which inscription fee is symbolical, is organized to promote a game that is also different. There is no cash prize for the winners, but exclusive prizes granted by Arc System Works. European SBO'10 qualifiers - at Stunfest
Neithan replied to BioLogIn's topic in International Events
So the battle will start ! :D Biologin : I think there are small things in the console version about johnny. The timing of his FRC are not correct and perhaps I am misunderstanding, but I think his killer joker move do not have an automatic jump install so you have to do it manually. Not sure at all. Many people said that some gatlings with robo ky were strange too, and Faust, one of the slayer from paris, told me slayer in arcade was a bit different too. Of course for you it will not change anything, but as tournaments in paris are held on an arcade since one year, coming back to console version for a tournament is not appreciated. ^^ Shinjinn about the version of the game, I don't know wich one you should put for the tournament. We already talk about the important matter of having a single version of the game for the entire tournament and you talked about the GGAC+ US. Perhaps Camo will be more precise than me about differences, but I think he told me GGAC+ JAP was the more accurate version of the game. Well guys see you soon, my i-no will be ready for you ! KIMOCHI !! -
European SBO'10 qualifiers - at Stunfest
Neithan replied to BioLogIn's topic in International Events
Biologin : I think camo was talking about the forum in general and not about you. As for the tournament in Russia some almost made it last summer for two or three players but at the end it could not be done. Problems at work for having vacations and when the majority of motivated people learned if they could go or not, it was too late for plane tickets and papers for Russia. For next time we would like to prepare a travel so we can also visit a bit russia and not just come to the tournament. -
European SBO'10 qualifiers - at Stunfest

Responsible for Tougeki Quals (meaning communication with jap people) : Madjid Director of the Stunfest : SRG so indirectly responsible for quals if they are hold in France. Right now here is why communication was not very good : both Madjid and SRG are struggling to have sponsors and money so they can afford an event of quality. Communication was not very good during this time and they are sorry about it I suppose. It's also our part, french players, for not giving any info. But as I say, when it's been 3 years that almost anybody came to France, what's the point ? People won't come. As I said very occupied orgas and bored french players, that makes a bad communication. Come on he's trying to find a solution !:8/:He also have to organize for all the other games you know, that's not simple at all. If he let people choose that's the way of doing it ! I already responded before. Yeah he was a great addition for the tournament and he's a must have player for quals ! But we want more people to come along sometimes to see us ! Because Sweden was asked for an arcade version and didn't communicate either apparantly. So each side didn't communicate and poof ! We have this situation. You can blame the showdown, the stunfest was always in May, it never changed. But Shinjinn changed the date for cheaper plane prices, so in fact, you can't blame the shodown ! AAAARGH IT'S TOO COMPLICATED !! Come on don't give me that ! The stunfest is the biggest event in France since 5 years ! It's been two years we communicate on forums about it, even Marn and Justin Wong came last year and won the guilty gear tournament ! So it's not as we were hiding ! The Cannes tournament had heavy communication and nobody came at all except goga ! I can accept you are lacking of communication this year but don't blow dragons to our faces like sol in GG slash ! We had great tournaments for years and european people just never came (except the three germans, Koji and Probe...) ! And please be warned that we came to the showdown 3 (12 french players !) three years ago and we didn't even know the sweden community or what was the place or reputation ! If you don't do the first step sometimes you will never change things. Shinjinn will agree that Shodown 3 was the best GG event of all time because it was a great orga and both French, Sweden, Norvegian, Slovenian and english players came, even if they didn't know at all the other players of the community, it was the way to meet people and have great moments ! Many french players can't afford to travel too but would like to meet european players, the same in sweden, in russia, etc. So sometimes it should be normal, and even polite, to turn a bit the places where you are travelling. As I said I would love to see a big tournament held in a major country each year. It's not possible, but that would be fair for everybody. /close the complain, see you in sweden to make love while eating krisprolls in the sauna ! -
European SBO'10 qualifiers - at Stunfest
Neithan replied to BioLogIn's topic in International Events
It's getting complicated as always, i'll try to make a bit of light in this thread : - Only Goga came to Cannes. He was THE ONLY player that came. So before saying "3 events we can't afford that" please note It's now 2 events. Please come to the tournaments ! - About the qualifiers last year, I wasn't there but it was not in good conditions at all. First it was on console, secondly if you went to a console then another it was not the same version of GGAC if I remember correctly (or the USA version... Something like that). In these conditions, you should not be surprised about the change of hands. - When people want us to be equals and communicate I'm okay, but it should start by travelling equally also ! It's been three years we come to shodown, and it's been three years sweden community didn't move in France. You can understand that people also wants you to move on your side on tournaments that are prepared for giving good conditions, it's a pleasure and honor to have you in France, to organize a tournament also for you. Seeing goga in cannes was great and I was ashamed that there was not enought freeplay for him during the week, something that will not happen in stunfest. It's just my opinion but giving the quals to a major country each year (French, Sweden, Russia) would be the good thing to do. Yeah i know I'm dreaming ! - Seing the previous phrases you ash why are the french organizing this ? Because we were the first one to ask for it in europe years ago, it's as simple as that, and now Joe Higashi and Madjid are well knowned from the organizers, and they will not change just because we ask. - The arcade version was asked for the qualifications and it means... an arcade cab. Arcade conditions, not just a version plugged to a TV. We have two GGAC arcade versions in France on arcade cabs in paris. So basically it's easier, you don't even have to think about how you'll manage to find an arcade version. I will not participate so I don't really care but you have to admit something there : - Shodown has the most players - France has the greatest conditions So now it's up to each country ! -
I updated the screens, thanks for the translation !

Thanks a lot !

Gentlemen... I don't read japanese at all. Is there someone here who have the Tougeki DVD could put the names of the players for each match and also the names of the teams ?:8/: Picked matchs : http://thomasloreille.fr/sbo/snapshot20100121185506.jpg http://thomasloreille.fr/sbo/snapshot20100121185535.jpg http://thomasloreille.fr/sbo/snapshot20100121185549.jpg http://thomasloreille.fr/sbo/snapshot20100121185612.jpg http://thomasloreille.fr/sbo/snapshot20100121185642.jpg http://thomasloreille.fr/sbo/snapshot20100121185714.jpg http://thomasloreille.fr/sbo/snapshot20100121185735.jpg http://thomasloreille.fr/sbo/snapshot20100121185752.jpg http://thomasloreille.fr/sbo/snapshot20100121185820.jpg Once I'll have the names I'll put a try in photoshop to add translated names on images (with smaller sizes) so everyone can understand who is playing against who.
