  1. It's like all the new female characters are being designed by Mori.
  2. I think that's what every Jin I've met aspired to do. It's like everyone wants an Irony Distortion Finish VS Hakumen. Same with Noel and her Astral. I feel like if Hakumen ever gets a proper projectile, everyone will go out of their way to kill zoners with it.
  3. I guess it depends on whether the cancel is fast enough for you to CH your opponent. I doubt it would be fast enough to grab the hurt box with Yukikaze (that would be kind of insane).
  4. I'd love it they made a Garou sequel, but I'm content with both KoF14 and MI3.
  5. PS4-only special edition makes me sad. On the other hand, PS4 gamepads work on PS3s (and PCs), so I still might get it since I'll eventually be moving to PS4 anyway.
  6. GGs to people who joined the bear room tonight.
  7. I always liked the idea of EX characters. Reminded me of Samurai Shodown 3. MK10 already has 3 variants per character, so I think at least EX version of the current cast wouldn't make things feel as empty.
  8. I'd rather have a 5 hour movie than a 5 hour book. NR did a great job with both MK and Injustice's story and set the bar quite high. Even if Xrd is going the VN route, I sincerely hope they make it close to #reload and AC. Exchange few lines > fight. BlazBlue's story mode made me hate words. EDIT: I don't mind reading in general, by the way. It's just that a lot of VNs tend to have cringe-worthy writing. I was fine with BBCT, but then it started getting more and more and more taxing. I played 999 the other day and it made me realize just how good VNs can be if the writing is good. Sadly, I don't think ASW does a proper job bringing their otherwise creative worlds to life in the VN format.
  9. It really goes both ways, from what I've seen. If you don't pick your main and the other person is beating your sub easily, on one hand, you're not giving them a chance to improve their match-up VS a high-level character. On the other hand, they're not giving you the same chance for your sub. It's why I go with "pick what you pick", because I don't think it's fair to expect better players to help me if I don't help "worse" players in turn. I'll groan when I see a mirror or a Tager or bloody Terumi, but I'm sure I've made a bunch of people groan myself.
  10. BlazBlue is one of the rare games where I can't really accomplish anything with non-main characters. Unlike GG, or most other fighters I've played, picking up a new char in BB is in most cases relearning the entire game again. Funnily, I picked Kagura tonight by accident when playing online and despite me playing BB for a while and understanding fundamentals and inputs, I literally couldn't do anything with the character. The only characters I've had this happen with in GG have been Order Sol and ABA, while in most other games, I at least manage to put up a fight with a different character, even if I've never touched them before. So, I kinda gave up and decided to go with the approach of "If I can't win with Hakumen, I'll just try and learn how to win". If I bore someone because of it, they can just not play me. I personally don't like walking away from either matches I'm only losing or only winning, but that's just my own fighting game etiquette.
  11. Not sure what the move's called, but the one where Kagura slams his sword into the ground and then hits you through it with his shoulder, does it have armor? I grabbed it with Yukikaze and it did like pissall damage. Never seen that before.
  12. GGs to people I played tonight in Player matches.
  13. This whole video is amazing, but the concentration in this round is mind-blowing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3gKDBfI41Y&t=40m48s
  14. And Baiken actually has two arms (or well, will have when she's released).
  15. I just want them to either remove 6D or return it to its previous state. I'd even go with the old "doesn't do damage" variant.
  16. I could have sworn Akumetsu didn't do unblockables. The more you know. The only two situations that come to mind where that happens is if you bait a Yukikaze with an Agito while in OD, and buffer Akumetsu as you land; or that the opponent somehow does a Yukikaze on a fuumanjin you created (again from an Agito).
  17. So wait, unblockables don't trigger Akumetsu, but they trigger Noel's Astral? Wow...
  18. I got extremely salty a month ago where this Tager won two matches in a row against me with super traps, but I was pretty close to beating him. It wasn't the losing that got me, I'm used to playing Tager since CT since my IRL friend mained him. The guy leaves the machine and tells me "Learn the game of supers" and refused to play me anymore when I wanted a rematch. Like, sod off, I played a better Tager offline for years, don't give me crap for your purple 2 bar throws. On a different note, I was going through my inbox and got reminded of another pet peeve: the guy who says you suck when you beat him. Had someone go through their main and two subs and lost. Then they went Haku mirror (which people always do just to prove to me that Haku is easy mode) and lost again. Then I get a message "lol do you even know bnb combos w/e I was drunk".
  19. I doubt they'd implement it, but it would be a neat gimmick if Faust's donut replenished Sin's full stomach meter.
  20. The fullscreen OD/Mugen bullshit is hilarious. I've had people literally not know how Mugen works and then attempt to punish me after blocking two waves (since like omg how can you do three in a row?!). Good video.
  21. What determines whether slicing a bubble leaves a Fuumajin? It seems to work sometimes, but not always.
  22. I might be missing something, but that doesn't make sense to me. Localization doesn't take away time from development, unless the people who are doing the localization are the actual developers, artists, sound directors, etc. If that's the case with ARC, I think they have more serious issues on their hands. If you meant that they'd rather pour in money into a new project than localization right away (IE, they delay costs), that's still a bit too flimsy for me, because a smaller window for translating a product is gonna end up being most expensive. If you have internal localization, then the most cost-effective way of localizing text strings (the bulk of the work) is doing it as you define it in the game (for example, "We're gonna definitely call this move Super Soaker of the Void, so lets commit all the text that relates to it in the game's tutorial, challenge, move list, achievements, etc). If you're outsourcing it, then it's either sending localization strings at development milestones or when you're completely done with the game and are doing tweaks, polish and things that generally aren't related to outsourcing. This was an excuse since Battle Fantasia (I recall it was 3D specifically so they could get a better hang of it). I love Arc, but that's a really long time in game development to be hurting for a 3D guy and I hope they don't drag it on for even longer. My personal take on all of this: I'm guessing the bulk of their profits come from Japan, although this is just a guess and I could be just as easily wrong (I'm really not sure how much arcade games actually learn). CT's localization and release was great because it was a fresh franchise and they wanted it to take off. The sequels didn't have that much of a presence (I don't recall even hearing much about CP save from people and places who were already hyped for it). I don't blame them, because trying to explain the differences between "BlazBlue Calamity Trigger", "BlazBlue Continuum Shift" "BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend" and "BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma" to your regular non-fighting game player (or regular fighting game player even) is like me trying to grasp the Assassin's Creed series between AC2 and AC3. With Guilty Gear Xrd, I am assuming they're taking the BBCT approach and that it won't be as sloppy. It's a short name, it's a reboot of sorts, or a new chapter, whatever you wanna call it. It's new tech, it's on a new console, it has the big buzzwords like 1080p and 60FPS. If it doesn't take off as well in the mainstream, you can expect Xrd reload, Xrd slash, Xrd Overture Mix and so on to have less and less quality in localization and less of a marketing presence. I feel like out of all the fighting games, NetherRealm does it best by just releasing one game and updating it with new characters. Of course, they have an obscenely larger market... I personally didn't care for getting BBCP in English, since I only ever played it for my Arc fighter fix, but I am much more involved in the GG series and if Xrd got the treatment CP did, I'd probably be hurting for it as much as some posters here. It wouldn't affect my decision to purchase it, but it would leave me disappointed. But it all really depends whether Arc's plan for the franchise is to compete with the mainstream fighters or if they want to cater to the niche fighter group of dedicated fans.
  23. GGs to people I played in the EU lobby. Had some really refreshing matches.
  24. GGs to people I stumbled upon in Ranked.
  25. Is it just me, or does it really seem like Jins only ever use Yukikaze when fighting Hakumen? It's like they want to kill you with sweet irony.
