  1. so in +R (XX?) if you RC the 1st hit of air VV you fall straight down. is this still the case in xrd? if so, you should get a chunky confirm on hit (land, BB or running dustloop...) and on block you get a free airdash high/low/throw because of the time slow. i also wonder if a running TK SVV goes over the other side of the opponent on block? the run momentum should theoretically make punishing the followup kick very finicky, although i feel this won't be the case with xrd run speed/acceleration
  2. whoopsies bolded for clarification
  3. this is true for XX but is it confirmed for xrd? see one example. i have only seen j.D recovery disappear when i-no connects a move on the exact frame before landing in XX
  4. Here's something fun and educational: the best Bridget player in the world has agreed to do an interview, and I think it'd be super rad if he answered your questions. Ask him anything! Post your questions here or PM me.
  5. Getting up to speed: P4U2 has been moved to Saturday. GG and BB finals are Sunday; P4 and UNIB finals are Saturday. Check here for the schedule. The pre-reg cutoff has apparently moved to Wednesday at midnight (a day earlier than originally posted). Hope this doesn't convenience anyone. Also, extra setups would be greatly appreciated! We're mostly looking for PS3s (with all games + DLC characters). Compensation will be provided if we end up using your PS3 and/or monitor.
  6. rip. not a chipp even! also this
  7. sorry to butt in the conversation but i definitely buy stage lag and console hiccups (except why do the backgrounds need to be synchronized?...) affecting the connection, but why does skipping the intro cause lag? are arcsys netcode programmers incompetent enough to let you press buttons before the players are fully synced? is there proof or have experiments been done that show this is the case?
  8. god help you if you play pot vs ram. hold this 18f (~20f for everyone else... but links into 5P) overhead 6K
  9. @Elochai: Looks like it. I originally figured everything (BB/GG/UNIB/P4U) would start on Saturday :| Would people prefer if P4U pools run on Saturday? I don't think it'll be an issue to change. While I'm at it, is there a consensus on the DLC characters? Allow/ban? @Alzarath: "Thursday before the show" apparently, so 9/18.
  10. Unless we change our minds, top 8 will be run on Sunday.
  11. i posted this way back when. you don't lose YRC meter on the first frame
  12. isn't it suspicious when a 24f invincible super gets stuffed after the super flash?...
  13. random mixup and j.2K thoughts from watching recent vids: xrd roman cancel is super buff for it's late. you have three potential uses for the meter 1. if you just want the overhead: meaty it's late, 2K xx mappa RC, crosswise, etc. much greater reward for spending meter than in XX series. 2. if you're baiting mash/throw but want to eat your cake: it's late, hit confirm RC. even if you RC on, say, frame 30 after the hit, you should be able to get SS > 2K-2D. with crack reflexes, you could go for things like 5H-2H in the corner, 6P just outside it, 214PK if you're in your mid-twenties... 3. if you want the RC mixup in case they do block high: it's late RC. either you hit the opponent and get anything you want, or they are stuck in a standing block animation for 34/26f on regular block or IB. you can force IAD j.S and make the opponent guess when you'll land (and possibly 2K) by varying your gatlings mid-air. even if they block all that shit, they still have to worry about their guard gauge. i haven't seen anyone do this yet, but there's no reason why you can't threaten unreactable fuzzy j.2K either. this hasn't been mentioned yet, but bite has crazy GB- before you actually deal damage. if you've jacked their GB, the bite ends up doing pilebunker-like damage the slayer in training mode on the top of this page was also experimenting with 5H-j.2K (!) this could make for an interesting crouch punish, since the stagger makes you immediately taller. also, undertow can be BS'd. arcsys really wants you to feint that move eh? actually this just occurred to me. i wonder if the dust 3d pursuit animation eats your RC input? if so, 5D RC, proceed as usual on hit, 2K/j.2K mixup on block...
  14. If you're still looking for a hotel, there's a group rate for the Hilton. Group code is GUTS3. Rate is $169 a night. Friday by itself is now $129 without the group rate if you're willing to make two separate reservations. The Bellissimo Grande also has a group rate. Code is GUTS3; rate is $149 a night (just Friday is $109 without the group rate). The hotel is a bit further from the venue (~3 miles) but it has a complimentary limo service to Foxwoods :3
  15. random block if you have a stick with turbo you can record a dummy, FD and turbo the appropriate direction. still really annoying though
  16. couple of helter skelter notes: http://www.twitch.tv/joniosan/b/553110106 -> 25:39. helter skelter can be done meaty! hits on active frame 5 in this example. i wonder if you can YRC after the stomp? if the projectile persists after YRC, you could theoretically do something like this: knockdown j.D, immediate Pstep > H over the opponent, YRC mid-air after the explosion is active. should be DP safe if meaty, and if they block, they would be stuck in blockstun long enough to guarantee an airdash/empty jump mixup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVWHtDAG4eQ#t=23 -> helter skelter can be RC'd while you're still on the ground. this is actually pretty impressive since slayer is visually mid-air right after the first active frame! on block you should be able to get a guaranteed undertow, hide 5D under the explosion, do anything really. it's a treat to witness hase murdering everyone; see: https://www.youtube.com/user/gbsadm and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWXECDguUj3M0s8OthIloRg one other thing. 6K YRC is not auto-JI'd but you can do c.S(JI)-6K YRC. heh
  17. OK. Belated update! First things first: there will be a $250 pot bonus each for BBCP and UNIEL! With that out of the way... Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghTOP3gf4kE FB page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1427297670873472/1450356205234285 Pre-reg here: http://www.foxwoods.com/guts3.aspx (click "Buy Tickets" on the right-hand column. Easy to miss :| ) Venue is $40 if you pre-reg, and $50 at the door. If you haven't gotten your room already and you're definitely planning on going, book now. There won't be any discounted rooms left once they sell out. Should this be the case, you can try the Hilton Garden Inn, which is a mile away and reportedly has a complimentary shuttle to Foxwoods. There might be a group rate, but I can't make any guarantees. Couple of notes: Friday is $149 and Saturday is $219 at the Hilton but if you include both days, the Friday rate is rounded up to the Saturday rate Also, when the Two Trees double beds originally sold out for Friday, there were still rooms left for Saturday. Two Trees is $179 for Fri/Sat and $129 for Sun, FYI. If you're willing to do Kayak style mix-and-matching, there's that. Venue hotel is sold out! @Capconian: it doesn't sound like it, but you could try gauging interest on the FB page.
  18. found it. did this get glossed over last time? :|
  19. to add on to the above, a good rule of thumb is you shouldn't move backwards between the backdash startup and the jump cancel if you want a clean, invincible BDC. you should be able to BDC mappa through ky's S stun edge. record a dummy and try it out
  20. i remember reading some ishiwatari/pachi snippet way back when in this thread that mentioned relaxed execution requirements in xrd? to paraphrase, it involved 'the old ways vs. the new ways.' or something to that effect. is this a thing (is the source available)? stuff gets lost real fuckin fast in this thread so i might not be remembering correctly. they weren't very specific so i interpreted said statement as 'BB-style input buffer.' can anyone who's actually played xrd confirm/deny?
  21. So, speaking of special guests from Japan and things you definitely do not want to miss: The legendary Buri player and master of ソレ~ returns to America! It is my pleasure to announce that Ruu will enter the +R tournament at GUTS 3. The gracious host of this event, Game Underground, has also offered to provide a $250 pot bonus for +R. And a message from Ruu himself: 今年もGUTS開催おめでとうございます!ご招待頂き、本当にありがとうございます。今回で三度目となる、大好きなアメリカに、ゲーマーとしてまた伺えることを本当に嬉しく思います。 他の面白いタイトルに負けない魅力がたくさんあるGGXXAC+Rを、皆さんと僕のプレイングでたくさんの人達に魅せられればいいなーと思います。 盛り上げていきましょう! Congratulations on the announcement of this year's GUTS! I am very grateful for the invitation to the event. This will be my third time in America and as a gamer I am very happy to be able to visit again. There's a lot of other appealing titles, but I hope to bring the attention of everyone to GGXXAC+R with my play. Let's get hype! Indeed! Now's your chance to pay your respects, prove your worth, or perhaps even strike down a god. Let's show Ruu that +R isn't just some game that has characters that aren't in Xrd. Come to GUTS and keep Guilty Gear alive! A final note: Ruu will be accompanied by a friend who just so happens to play Tekken. If you play TTT2, come through!
  22. how exactly did people react to the addition of FRC in XX? being able to turn gunflame from 50f to 15f must have sounded utterly insane lol
  23. at around ~2:39:20 here potemkin gets hit by instant j.2K. no <!> sign though; pot actually drops the blocking stance just before j.2K hits. most likely switching guard because of the xup? i'm hesitant to label this a thing as pot's crouch guard has a shorter hurtbox than idle crouch so i'm guessing this is crossup only? i am also very sure BDC has AC inv (max 6f). for evidence there's a slayer mirror somewhere in the jonio footage where nage DoT hits meaty because taka does BDC bite (i.e. 6321447H, not 44632147H)
