  1. I assume the 7th character will be a boss for those single player cabinets.
  2. Will there be a separate thread for the loketest reports?
  3. Unlikely, the initial failure of SF3 pretty much killed the "all new cast + a few returning ones" approach in the Fighting Game genre (Garou and to lesser extent Tekken 3 are popular exceptions, and in case of latter they quickly started to bring back the oldies in the subsequent entries).
  4. Okay, here is a stupid idea on how the Guard Gauge might visually work without the usual half-full meter, assuming that it will work in the Loketest: If you're blocking it begins to fill the Gaurd Gauge with the red-colored energy from one side, lets say left, if you're getting hit it it fill the gauge with the blue-colored energy from the other side, the right one in this case. Neither energy can be on the gauge at the same time. Also, in case we're gonna get a playable character other than the known four at the loketest, I hope for Potemkin, wearing an XXL leather jacket like in one of those unlocked artworks. EDIT: It seems that the Xrd loketest overlaps with the summer Comiket, so there will be less gamer otaku attending the former.
  5. Sol looks the same and the ponytail is still there.
  6. Just listened to the BBCP remixes for curiosity, and IMHO they are trying too hard to make it sound live-like. I felt the same to a lesser extent about the XX remixes of the X themes (Slayer's, I-No's, Zappa's and Bridget's themes rocked, though).
  7. I imagine that something like this is possible: Dizzy: (nervous, fidgetting and blushing) Umm... Sol-san? Sol: Hm? Dizzy: I..I...have this warm feeling inside me... that I haven't felt for a long time.... Sol: Huh? Dizzy: I...really want to... spend more time with you. Sol: !? Sin: (hiding around the corner, smug): Ha! Look Dad, she likes the Old Man more that she likes you! Ky: (ditto, nervous): It can't be, It can't be, It can't be. Dizzy: So...can I... call you Father? Ky, Sin: !?! Sol: .............."sign" Do what you want (pets Dizzy's head). Sin: HEY! NOT FAIR, MOM! THE OLD MAN IS MY OLD MAN AND MINE ALONE!
  8. Is it strange that with the exception of 360s, pretzels, and a few cases of tiger knees motions and the like, I find most of the mentioned inputs to be very easy to pull off on the keyboard? The only time they gave me trouble is in the games where the input detection is a bit wonky to begin with, like in Last Blade 2 (emulated, at least).
  9. After reading that, I am pretty sure that I heard most of what was written there 10 years ago when I got into Guilty Gear.
  10. Arc confirmed for TGS. Also, now that I think about it, the 3D models now also allows for cheaper creation of characters whose gimmick is complete stance changing (not just Zappa spirit pseudo-stands or ABA blood install, but full Gen/Jhun Hoon/May Lee package).
  11. A question for those with knowledge of Japanese Arcades: Other than the different player card network, does it means anything to arcade players that Xrd is going to be released on Sega's RingEdge 2 and not on something else like Taito Type X, or is it basically a equivalent of two slightly different Windows using PCs (from the player's point of view) and thus not worth thinking about?
  12. As hilarious as it is, the egg laying neatly explains how Dizzy could have been born 2-3 years after Justice's sealing. And for extra points, a long time ago, someone on TvTropes compared Justice to the Queen Bee (thus making the crotch-spike a visual metaphor for Queen Bee's ovipositor).
  13. If there is going to be alternate costume DLC, I expect only one, maximum two per character and more expensive compared to DOA and Tekken DLC prices. Because as far as we know, the 3D emulating 2D by handcrafting every single "frame" approach prevents Arc from just giving a 3D model a new outfit, test it a little for bugs and let the usual animations play out. For hypothetical example Sol has a Classic Sol alt, Shirtless alt, Order Sol alt, Xrd Ky-style Regal Order Sol alt, Frederick alt, the Full Gear alt, GG2 Overture alt, Coatless GG2 Overture alt and GG2 Overture Full Gear alt. The new revision comes, Sol gets a new move, and now Arc has to handcraft 9 extra sets of "frames" for alts, the time and money for which could have been spent better elsewhere.
  14. A Musical wishlist: - New modern arrangements of: -- In Slave's Glory -- Black Soul -- Death and Republic -- Beyond the Dark Life -- Grief - Bring back the the more subdued intro parts of Make Oneself, A Solitude That Asks Nothing In Return, Bloodstained Lineage and Awe of She. - In general, more relative simplicity of X/late-XX and less relative overproduction of early XX.
  15. Watching the Chip and Ironicus LP of Metal Gear Rising while waiting for the PC version made me imagine a Platinum made Guilty Gear beat em up set during the Crusades, with the nod towards MGR via Justice using her bladehands to chop the Holy Order's giant mechs (hey, they need something for grunts to be able to take on the Megadeth-type Gears). Back to Xrd itself, unless converting the returning characters to the new engine is given a much, much higher priority, I expect at least 5 new characters, 4 playable and 1 Boss (I expect Testament to reprise his midboss role, unless he gets a shaft in favor of character specific matchups) unless the boss is merely a powered up version of the new playable character or a hidden returning character. I expect one of them is going to be a new Token Loli to replace May and Bridget. My personal theory: Ky and Dizzy's daughter born after the events of Overture (and giving the otaku a new waifu to waste money on since their previous waifu "cheated" on them with a frenchboy), with the gear physiology shortening the pregnancy and with the quarter-gear girls growing up faster than quarter-gear boys, just in time to be of equivalent age to X2 May. That or maybe Xrd will take place after 2187, with the year on Bullet Heaven being a date of creation or a missed patent registration date. EDIT: Knowing the Japanese, the GG2 cast will count as "new" in Xrd.
  16. EDIT: That's Primal Rage, Narroo. KI is basically a combo-heavy M-rated Street Fighter clone with no balance at higher level play. EDIT 2: Speaking of games with Fatalities, I hope Arc will not spend too much money making flashy Instant Kills just because being in 3D makes it easier to make them.
  17. Nothing new from E3 itself (as expected), not even just using the event as an excuse to upload new videos on their youtube nico channels like a few others did (like I hoped). So barring them uploading videos at some random date, at best we will see something at EVO a month from now, at worst we will have to wait until September for TGS.
  18. Asking again, how will Arc will handle Xrd if they decide to follow the F2P route, or at least make a separate F2P version? And just not to sound repetitive: What are the chances that they will have Young May and Young Bridget as DLC?
  19. Isn't that a case with every single competitive sports you can name?
  20. Its seems F2P fighters are taking root, if DOA5U and the recently announced Tekken Revolution are any indication. So hypothetically, if the console version of Xrd will be F2P, how will Arc handle it? I didn't keep up with BlazBlue since CS, but I heard that Arc made some questionable economic decisions since then.
  21. So Ishiwatari wasn't responsible for the story past the original GG? Or is he like a good version of George Lucas, who provides cool ideas in raw form and delegates the realization of his ideas to other people? Edit: And is Kaihou Norimitsu on board for Xrd?
  22. As someone said earlier, the main thing that will convince casuals to buy a new fighting game is flash and style instead of substance and tourney worthy balance. And the former is usually an extra byproduct from the additional console content. Boost/Judgement mode was already mentioned earlier, but what if they added a Tag mode, with its own flashy Tag switches, Tag overdrives and Instant Kills, like in this hack fanvideo. And of course, the Isuka mode for the illusion of a party game. (off-topic: As I understand, the Turn button was one of the biggest problems Isuka had. What if it was replaced by a Switch Opponent button?)
  23. I don't think Ishiwatari has a privilege to regard those games as "Gaiden" after Overture's underwhelming sales.
  24. If they will bring back Baiken, will they make her armless side flip like Spencer's cyber-arm from MvC3, or will they redesign her to be symmetrical? (new cyber-arm; no-hands-sword-in-the-mouth-and/or-feet etc.)
