Just leaving some GGxBB ideas I've been floating around. Feel free to answer the ones you can explain: -Faust vs Litchi -Slayer vs Valkenhayn -Potemkin vs Tager -Chipp vs Bang -I-No vs Hazama
-
So, what characters does everyone feel have potential in 1.1 from seeing the current changes? I think Sin is looking absolutely terrifying with a much better 623S and jump-cancellable 6P. I can't comment on the others because I don't play them.
-
Can he actually start it off of cr.K, cr.S xx 236K xx 623S xx 214S in the corner? The ground bounce seems like it might work, but as my previous post might imply, I'm not sure if it actually works there.
-
Would one of you be willing to explain to me the setting up and execution of these "Beak Diver Loops" all the hip young Sin players are talking about? Nearest I can tell, he sets it up in the corner on any juggled/bounced opponent and has to hit them with the charged version as late as possible before they touch the ground.
-
Is there any practical use for his command overhead? So far, best I've got is spamming the hell out of it during curse because many characters have trouble avoiding it.
-
What are Arakune's primary curse loops? (Note: I am still on CS2, so you may or may not need to change the notations for me)

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
A Classy Gamer replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
After reading over the Guilty Gear wiki, I don't think anyone could really be excluded for plot reasons. But a few notes on that front: -Grown ass man Bridget might wind up being a thing. He's the most popular character, and he has to age somehow, barring some kind of magical retcon. -Dizzy is Ky's wife and Sin's mother in 2. Seeing as Sin is a human-Gear hybrid as well, I could imagine Dizzy being replaced with Sin. Not that I'd like it, though. -Slayer is probably going to return. He's very popular, and he doesn't really have anything to make him not fight. -Chipp now works as one of Zepp's elite bodyguards alongside Potemkin. Expect a costume change. -

I think FRCs as we know them from the XX series are being removed to make the game less , dare I say, "intimidating" to new players? And Slashbacks are probably gone because no one really used them, as far as I remember. Bit sour about the loss of Force Breaks though, as I loved Faust's Force Breaks. (Admittedly, I just love the character, so I probably won't feel too much of a difference.) As long as my doctor is still in the house, I'll be very happy. -

Just going into the thread this one time to say what may have already been mentioned: I would have died laughing if there was a thread titled "Hokuto no Kentucky". -
How would you feel about a Capcom vs Arc Systems?
A Classy Gamer replied to A Classy Gamer's topic in Misc Fighter Central
Guilty Gear XXAC already has that. It's a good mode, and I'd be happy with that system. Tag mechanics and Arc Systems wouldn't mix well. -

But SFxT is a thing, and despite the contrast between the Tekken and SF systems, it turned out all right; shady business practices aside. Even then, the "Ryu doesn't seem useful here" argument has already been overrode in the MvC series and TvC. If Ryu can seriously be put against those characters, that's hardly a reason to deny the possibility. At this point, ARC (happy, Hecatom?) Systems deserves the exposure to be alongside the likes of SF, SNK, and Tekken as a serious fighting game and not "some anime game" to the main audience for fighters. If system mechanics are an issue, they could always take a leaf from CvS2 and allow you to pick and choose system mechanics, or take the SFxT approach and integrate key features into the system. Then again, I would infinitely prefer Arc's style and take on the Capcom roster over Capcom's ideas any day. -

Oh the new one was DmC? I thought that was the old one. Sorry. Easy, I was just asking to see how interested people are in the concept. If there is a better thread, I don't mind moving this. Kind of an odd topic so I'm not sure exactly where it would go. Just figured Misc Fighters was okay because there was a thread for Tekken x Street Fighter that didn't get shut down. -
This hasn't been announced or leaked or anything of the sort, but I was beginning to wonder: Would the anime fighter and primary FGC communities approve of such a game? Who does everyone want to develop it if it comes to fruition? Would it even sell decently? I think this could be a hit (if done right) and really help both communities. The FGC will have a bit more presence in the anime community, and the Arc Systems will be a bit more widely known throughout North America. I would much rather Arc Systems do this, but I would still be happy if Capcom did it and put in a real effort. I mean, if Capcom can do crossovers with SNK, Tekken, and Marvel, surely this kind of thing could happen, right? If you aren't sold on the idea, just imagine... -Dante ( DmC EDIT:THE OLD ONE) vs Sol Badguy -Chun-Li vs Millia Rage -Felicia vs Taokaka -Morrigan vs Ragna the Bloodedge or Rachel Alucard -Strider Hiryu vs Chipp Zanuff -Chris Redfield or pre-RE5 Jill Valentine vs Noel Vermillion -Nathan Spencer (Bionic Commando) vs Iron Tager -Mega Man X vs Robo-Ky -Sigma (Mega Man X) vs Relius Clover -M. Bison vs Justice The potential...

Is Faust's FRC window on the P and K versions of his teleport useful? I seem to get them consistently, but I find myself getting jabbed out of the set up frequently. Is the 25% meter worth a free mix-up?

As I said early on, new players need to have the information at their disposal with the game. That's why I applaud Injustice and Tekken Tag 2, because they actually make move properties known in the command list. Something like that for a game like Guilty Gear would be amazing. Sure, you can upload tutorials on youtube and post combo notations here on Dustloop, but how will people find out about that? Do you expect people to know where to look? All the resources here on Dustloop are only useful if people WANT to level up in Guilty Gear, and want to play it in the first place. Now it becomes a matter of making people WANT to be good Guilty Gear players instead of Marvel stream monsters, which your original post seems to despise greatly. I personally was motivated by a combination of seeing high level play and discontent with Marvel 3. While stream monsters are immune to the latter, the former is hard to bring in front of non-players because the Guilty Gear community doesn't have any "amazing" moments to get "hype" about. The primary FGC has EVO moments for days, and Yipes can make any match a good watch. In short, the community around the Guilty Gear games is too fragmented, too underdeveloped to be welcoming of new players. If we want more players, we need regular time on streams and figures to see as "experts".

Are there any FRCs that Faust relies on? If so, which ones do I need to be learning?
-
Nah, it's just a difference in tools. Lambda is a bit better at evading in general than Testament is, but Testament is more reliant on counters and blocking for defense. Plus, Testament requires a bit more thought and foresight than Lambda does. Also, I'm really, really ass in Blazblue; that helps. How do you make the game feel less "random" to people without gimping yourself? Seems like every time I try out something new with a character, it's stupid/braindead/lucky/gimmicky. I understand applying that to Faust, but none of those really apply to May or Robo-Ky.

Actually, he has several years over me in overall fighting game experience. I don't actually own the game and he practices from time to time, so it's not an issue of me investing more time than him. He's been on a bit of an anime fighter kick lately and feels most at home playing Lambda in Blazblue. I'd play Blazblue more often, but we are still on CS2 and I'm always salty that Platinum STILL costs $7 USD to buy, so Guilty Gear seemed like a more logical choice. Plus, I can only sit through the Arakune-Lambda match up for a limited amount of time before I stop having fun. It's not that he finds Testament's minefield too cheap to use, it's just that he doesn't seem to adapt it into his gameplay. When we very first started in Guilty Gear, he tried to play Testament as a rushdown character. It took a while, some high level footage, and a lot of losses before he figured that out. It might be a player issue: I've noticed that I tend to adapt much faster in just about any game (from GG to SF to Tekken to Marvel) and don't mind changing tactics, while he will stick with something and just dismiss 90% of what wins as stupid, braindead, or random. (Which there is some merit to, seeing as I main Faust) It's like he likes the concept of anime fighters and enjoys watching them, but the inherent cheapness and design ideas aren't fully sinking in.

Okay, I am afraid that I have found myself in a bit of a bind in learning this game. You see, I have one friend offline that actually wants to play Guilty Gear. We got into it around the same time. This issue is, I seem to have learned and progressed much more quickly than him, and now he's actually losing interest because he can't win unless I'm obviously not trying. He's tried to learn Testament and dabbled in Sol, but I've gotten just as far, and if not farther, with Faust, Robo-Ky, May, and Baiken. After mentioning how simple and straightforward all my characters are, I decided to just play Testament a bit to see where he's coming from ... and beat him. Now it's gotten to the point where I win with just about any character if I actually learn what said character is supposed to do and I've practically alienated my only competition to the point where I'm going to wind up with no one to play with until/unless R+ brings in some fantastic netcode. Now I feel bad if I play the characters I want because the odds are ridiculously in my favor, and I get bored out of my mind playing any characters that the fight is actually even with. Does anyone have advice on what to do in this kind of situation?

Is there a pic anywhere with Faust that replaces his paper bag with a top hat? That would be an appropriate avatar for Dustloop. I'll just keep Anakaris for the Capcom sites.
