I think Dogura's primary weakness is mashing SRK when things get rough. He's eaten so many punish combos in the a-cho videos. Of course, if you have a SRK it's hard to not mash it in the heat of the moment.

If you want to show videos from other channels, you can easily make a playlist, and it's just as effective. If you're hell-bent on re-uploading, the least you can do is translate your mirrors.

I think you meant to post http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qSnV0STN-U Try not to upload redundant videos on youtube, it's a waste of data.

you guys were bound to notice, but just a heads up: a-cho is uploading matches to youtube right now. http://www.youtube.com/user/GAMEacho

If I want to buy the arcadia issue, it's February, right? I'm considering it, despite the lack of DVD content, since I'd enjoy a chance to practice my japanese while reading about video games.

Guilty Gear FAQ Thread - Ask your questions here!

When it comes to video samples, learning the japanese tags and searching youtube is probably the best way. I've already compiled match videos of Anji, Zappa, Robo-ky and Order-Sol this way. Since I am in no position to spend hours a day at an arcade, I content myself with studying the top players, and trying to figure out how they think. -
Stop trying to robo-dash OS's charge-burst. It's what you get for abusing robo-dash, lol. If OS starts charging while across the screen, there are several options: -lay down a mat and wait. Think of it as him giving you time to build your tension! Of course, he's dangerous with his lvl3, but sometimes it's worth the risk, especially if you're confident you can read your opponent. -TK missiles. This essentially forces him to stop charging, and you want to TK missile because if you hop up and do them he'll run under the missiles and get under you, which is BAD. -lvl 3 horsie. It's fast enough that OS can't charge-burst it on reaction, especially at mid-range. You'll either get a clean hit or force him to block. -charge towards him! This is basically playing chicken. Are you going to FD-cancel (or 5p-cancel!) your dash, or are you going to robo-dash? Is he going to charge-cancel or charge burst? There are multiple outcomes, but in the event you manage to block his charge burst, whether you can punish him or not depends on your spacing. The thing is, OS is going to gain lvls as quickly as he loses them. Stop him from charging if you can, but don't kill yourself over it. Charge-cancel is a huge part of OS's mind game, and it's easy-come, easy-go.

From what I know of the character, anytime you combo into j.D you can follow it up with BRP. Although, to be honest, I have seen more SV combo enders than anything, probably because the opponent isn't teching directly above you like with BRP-ender combos.

While on the topic of asking favors: if you ever meet someone with the resources to make it happen, tell them to make a robo-ky figurine!

Really liked RF's matches. All of them. lol respect cancels.

IMO re-coining in a Johnny combo is scarier than KD. If your mist cancel pressure gets faster, the stakes get higher. I've seen some Johnny players purposefully end a combo with two coins instead of damage because they would rather have the torrential pressure of lvl3 than a solid KD. Of course, if the character you're up against can zone the pants off you, the philosophy changes.

You know, it's useful to be considerate of an "outsider's" point of view when it comes to fighting games. To them, getting destroyed in GG is not so different from getting destroyed in MvC2, or, for the sake of hyperbole, Mario Party or something. It's not fun at all when you have the same results whether you're pressing buttons or not. For many of us, our first experiences in fighting games is getting owned by some jackass in the arcade even though we just wanted to have fun, and our reaction was to strive to improve to make the most of our quarters. Just because this turned us into serious gamers doesn't mean this ought to be a rite of passage for anyone with a passing interest in a fighting game. If you really are playing with someone who doesn't (yet) care for competitive fighting games, then toss out your playstyle for a while and dick around; deign to fight them by their "rules." Heck, you might learn something and have fun at the same time, all without alienating anyone.

If you drop HOS I'll pick him up. I've been watching a lot of 0's and Inoue's HOS and it looks like fun.

Less GG is very sadface. I think the best step towards saving the GG community is online, GGPO ideally.

When faced with the hole + j.S unblockable, in order to "properly" guard it, which should I block first?

There are several options I can think of off the top of my head: -You can find a tao match where she uses that win pose and record it. Easiest, but you'll probably get some bg music. -You can find a sound test in BB and record off your ps3 with a DVD recorder or something (I don't currently own BB so I'm not certain there is a sound test...GG has one though). -You can figure out a way to rip the soundtracks right off the BB disc. Considering the discs are probably more complicated than a ps2 disc, I have no clue how you might go about doing this, but imho it may get you the best possible results.

Hello, Robo-players! I just wanted to spread the Holiday Spirit with a drawing I made. Robo-Ky would like to wish you a, um..."HA-HA-HAAppy Holidays!"

Ah 4r5, ever the diplomat.

A pipe dream, make not mistake. Also, character popularity polls? No thanks.

For NYC GG, unless you know someone who lives in the area, you're going to want to look for the Chinatown Fair. It's pretty much the only arcade in the region, and it's a hub for gamers on the east coast. The GG machine isn't nearly as popular as the SF4 and BB machines, or so I hear. I haven't been able to go there lately.

As Grey said, solid robo. Nice FRCs and picked-up combos. Some stuff to think about... You should do something with those blocked 5p/2p hits. since AC, 2p is cancel-able into 5s and 2k, giving you some cool blockstring options other than just using 2p to skim some frame advantage off of 5p. Try to get in there more and do more shenanigans with 5k, like 5kk>slight pause>k > short dash> etc it's so effective that you can often just do 5kkk>bazooka. Work on your defense. Mainly blocking those 5ds. That's about the only time the ky got any blockstrings in on you. You should try adding 5p to your list of anti-air moves. It doesn't really have any special properties other than quick recovery, but in the right situation you can get a nice counter hit. A couple of times you hit Ky with 5d as he jumped. You definitely could have hopped up and air-thrown him as he tech'd. Keep it up, and thanks for reviving the thread. I plan on getting some recording done after thanksgiving, so hopefully I can contribute something later.

Haha don't overthink it, bro. Especially if that makes you start mentally putting him on a pedestal!

Listen to DaiAndOh, come through and stop playing melty blood hohohoho Also, good fights, I learned a lot!

Just got back from the Hofstra tourney. I got knocked into the loser's bracket after a bitter duel with Eddie, a matchup I've only seen on youtube. I learned a lot about what I need to practice, and what sort of things my game is missing. Eddie has SO MANY pokes that make f.S > 2D unsafe, or even any blocktring > 2D. It seems like I could only afford to lay a mat if I got knockdown. Things I need to learn how to do: -after knockdown, make a short controlled dash with 5p to space a bazooka -execute a dash-jump during bazooka for mixup -instant block > SRK in one smooth command -continue pressure/mixup after successful 5k>5p oki -TK missile more consistently -airthrow as anti-air more consistently Despite the fact that I enjoyed the experience, traveling out to Long Island isn't easy, and I really wish there were more casuals in manhattan...or maybe even something on GGPO would have been nice...
