The way I do it is usually just go through arcade mode and practice combos on all the different characters. That way, I learn how to adjust to everyone instead of having my mind set on one character hitbox and body weight. Other things I do while I'm practicing (this is also arcade mode stuff) is trying to find opportunities for variations on things, like if I get a random counter hit in one situation, I ask myself "Can I dash up and combo after, or from this height can I do the combo differently?" Learning to spot a counterhit can lead to a good chunk of health gone. This is all for naught without having comp, though. You have to be able to test your stuff on people who play, and also learn how to get them into situations where you can force them into damage. Learn your mixup and pressure game.

Okay. Remember that Houston is a five hour-six hour drive counting on how fast you go. I'm also willing to house you guys for the night if you come on Friday night, I just will have to make a whole lot of room since I don't really have much to accommodate more than one person as far as sleeping.
-
Oh wow. Let me know when you'll be in town, I'll have to set up an off day, and also to gather the bit of crew we have. What day are you guys getting here?

Every once in awhile, you can do a 6k and it'll go under a few things, like Faust far 5S, and I can't think of much else. All Faust can when you throw that out is do an anticipated 6p, which is hard if he's trying to zone to keep you down. Even though Faust can go under your 5k, it's still pretty good as a pressure tool if you're up close. You might be forced to do a zoning game within your 5h/6h attack zone if your kicks keep missing, or poking with 2s or any of the hard slashes. The main thing I would avoid against Faust is going in the air unless it's an air throw setup, a combo already, or just doing tk ensenga. Faust out-prioritizes you in the air so much it's retarded. Oh, and 6ping Faust far 5s is pretty good if you can anticipate it.

Man, I went into the SEC thread and clicked on the link to the beginning of this thread. I hate being broke. btw, I saw at least one match of young Kobe's Baiken doing pretty well against Jais's Bridget. Not bad.

CRTs are awesome outside of the weight thing. :p Suck it up.
-
The babelfish translation of that Japanese quote is hella awesome. :o

One thing also worth of note, on the 32nd frame of the dust feint, you can link a 2k or a 2D. :/

There's one guy who I played with consistently for the past 3 years, he's the main reason I haven't gotten too rusty with my play. He just recently gotten a GG scene maybe a year ago, now they range from okay to pretty good.
-
To be truthful, I'm in the section with players around the par of level I need for comp. There is a really good scene in Baton Rouge which is an hour away, and there are 4-5 players outside of myself who can play decently. Sadly though, I seem to have outgrown my comp. I should just move to Houston or something.

They do, but you guys are in the wrong part of Louisiana. :o

wtf random dustloop peeps The seizures need more pikachu.

Dude, who guesses through internet handles nowadays? :p Don't worry, you're not missing much. I quit Slash in favor of Accent Core, which I've been practicing every weekend.
-
It might be dead, it doesn't mean I don't check the forums. Where are you from?
-
Sweet. A lot of my funding is going to visiting Houston to play Accent Core/Arcana Heart to practice for Showdown, but I'll try to make it.
-
Man, my Johnny seemed to have fallen hard. Or the lack of practice/practicing with Venom got to me finally. Damn you Accent Core for making me lose interest in Johnny. I'll have to find a way to visit you KY/TN guys sometime.

Hey Parry, did you play on his tv? How much lag is on it? :o Also, I can play on pad AND stick. I recently switched to stick after the last Evolution tournament in vegas last year, you can do so much more on stick. Just need to get used to it, especially the actual Japanese arcade layout.
-
Ahaha, flyers. That's cool. He's surpassing the point you were at, Parry! :p

Really Kobe? If you're serious I'll come up there for the heck of it. Well, after I get money again, I'm waiting for my tax return to buy a ps3 and I already bought two HRAP3s. Not to mention I'll be travelling to tournaments in the next two months, so I have to budget accordingly. I can try to make it up there one random weekday, though. Do you work, or do you just go to school? I could randomly get a weekday out there.
-
I'm one of the better players in the US. It counts on who you ask, though. If you guys shape up I'll be making a visit sometime soon.
-
Guys? As in plural? :o
-
Aha, nice av parry. If you leave the lid off, expect dust to get on the lens after awhile. You can just swab it off with a cotton swab, but just a warning.
-
There still is a chance for slight lag, counting on the hdtv. It's not a guarantee until there are tvs out that cater directly to videogaming, where there is of right now only one. :o
-
If you have progressive cables, any fighter with progressive scan won't lag on an HDTV. I have a HDTV in my living room and I didn't play on it till I found $5 sony-brand component cables and I went through my fighting games to find out what games had pro scan and what didn't. Otherwise you'll have to find some fancy-pants way to make the lag go away, unless you're playing with a next gen system (ps3/xbox360) that outputs the image correctly.

He has a fat ps2. You should tell her about you know, how you can burn games or something. 80 cents per game=awesome. Well, the fact that you have no DSL kinda sucks, though.
