  1. Well, the current best in North America would have to be Kenji (KBKNova). He finishes near the top consistently with Anji (maybe more of Zappa from what I'm seeing). I'm probably not the best yet,but I'll be getting there...I'm still learning the BS Anji has to deal with for every match up (currently working on Mays,I eat too many random CHs)
  2. I think that's a 3S cancel from 2S into 5S instead of an actual basic string. Also,it's best to go into shitsu pressure as it's Anji's main risk/reward game (and has the highest reward). I won't be going to Evo,or else I'd be going there and hanging a sign around myself proclaiming to be the best Anji in North America just for shits and giggles.(And getting beef with everyone at the same time)Besides, there isn't that many Anjis in North America. There's only like 4 active in all of Canada, and I'm guessing there's around 6-8 that's active in the US.(Maybe less?)
  3. I'm guessing the reason why Anji's in C tier is because of his anti-pressure options,he has several of them(though they're all pretty high risk). That's probably the reason why he's in C,and the fact that he can take on some of the higher tier characters better than the most of the cast (ie Eddie/Potemkin).Sure Anji is down...but he's definitely not out yet. However,I wouldn't put him that high on the tier list...maybe the bottom of C.It's probably Limekey/Dry Ace making him look that good(Domi is probably retired now).
  4. A few nifty tricks I found: -FDing her 5K doesn't allow her to command grab you after that -6P stuffs her horizontal dolphin approaches -5HS beats HER 5HS -6S also beats 5HS (safer, but no followup I think)
  5. On is a far better butterfly setup. However, you can't pin them at the corner if you use On (usually this situation occurs when they're backing off). However,I would take throw over On because of the corner. It just gives a lot more pressure on the other player than landing an On since people usually are a lot more focused on getting out of there instead of watching for mixups/crossups (And since you thwarted their last attempt, they're even in more pressure).
  6. Backdash loses to k mappa and leads into 50% combo.Safest option is to actually just backwards SJ at the start. During Butterfly pressure...I would suggest you look out for forward dash into bites more. That will completely turn the entire momentum around.
  7. Well,if you have godlike reactions, you can p stomp over the beast(like when it comes out)...otherwise it's more so of anticipation as you will be hit by the beast if you're too slow or too quick.I would recommend HS Fuujin through the beast if you have that kind of reaction. The 6H sounds kinda risky since it's a late guard point. It's best to just 6K autoguard it instead,or even 6S as it's the best poke to use in this match (hell,I would think even 5D is a better autoguard than 6HS...the only time I would 6HS is against Anji/Baiken in shitsu pressure as it autoguards most things they try to do getting out).
  8. Well,it wasn't ever that lively...
  9. That's better than people complaining about HS Fuujin when I win.(Unless I gave a MAJOR upset since I'm one of the newer players here)
  10. I still play Anji...though it's not exactly easy when every matchup in my area is a disadvantage...cept for like a single person.Even my Slayer friend said this: "You're trying too hard with Anji, just use your Testament." (This is after I raped him with Testament for like 7 matches and then switch to Anji, losing like 4 straight matches until I finally won)
  11. Isn't that the majority of Anji's match-ups?Anji players should have grown used to it by now.
  12. Catching Chipp is easier said than done(old video): http://youtube.com/watch?v=00TvTJkO9LY So yea...I just took it in the ass.
  13. http://youtube.com/watch?v=UPlz7kb4B5g Here's an old video of me taking on a testament...hope there's some stuff in there that could help you guys. There's both what you should do and what you should not do in it.
  14. I know,I've improved DRASTICALLY since that match.I still haven't faced the May again, but I feel a lot more confident now.I spam less fuujins now(but still do,trying to get rid of that habit).
  15. I have some (horrible) experience against May...and it isn't nice at all. Things to look out for: jHS - this move hurts, especially on CH command throw(usually after 5k) - this is a frame trap after 5k...so your only option is to backdash 3K - this move kills butterfly pressures if you're not ready...however it's EASILY punished dolphins - the vertical dolphin one is an overhead Generally, you don't want to take her on ground to air.She will definitely rape you.Ground to ground is bad if it's too close.(Recommend around 5HS to 6S range) You'd want to be running away most of the time,so spam that SJ like no tomorrow. Here's my FAIL attempt. Note: I tend to be a predictable fuujin spammer when under tremendous pressure. =/ http://youtube.com/watch?v=t1seK1OK7EY
  16. Ike: There's a match-up topic that includes Ky.Please go there.
  17. Anji is now technically not the worst character in the game anymore, but here's his bad points: -Tension required to do any sort of REAL damage -extremely risky move-set -high risk low rewards character -does not have a high damage combo that ends with knockdown (compared to the rest of the cast) -has holes in his pressure strings -no rewarding overheads -huge hitboxes,he's one of the EASIEST characters to combo -hardly any advantageous match-ups,if any at all (Johnny has more power than him,so I think that match-up is even, don't know if anyone else is closer to this match-up other than himself) And here's what he's good for: -getting out of pressure, but if you're already being pressured, that's not a good thing really -easy to pick up and learn The videos you watched must be the top Anji players, such as Domi/Lime-key/Dry Ace/ANG.
  18. Don't you dare HS Fuujin that 6H.6H rapes it 10 times over (and I'm pretty sure I've given Tiamat enough videos to support it). What happens is that you either get CHed because it's still active (you Fuujined too early) or you both completely whiff your moves. You can ONLY nagiha him if you did it.I'm not sure if it's even a CH,but it's just not a good payoff for that super risky stunt. I guess I should give more input since Faust is one of my most common matchups... Round start: Fausts usually start off with 5K,2P,or involves jumping. The jumps can easily be caught by SJ jK and you start the match off already in his face.5K is when he's aiming for a counter hit since it knocks you all the way to the wall and then he starts his zoning crap. And 2P is his "safe" start where he just watches your first move.5K can be beaten by HS fuujin at the start, but nothing can catch 2P since it recovers too quickly. Far Range (Out of HS Fuujin Range) This is where Faust plays most of his zoning game. He'll usually throw out a random item and then try to catch you of guard with that super long range pogo stick stab thingamajig. If he's an experienced player against Anji,he'll also occasionally jump FD Cancel into jHS to keep Anjis down from SJing in. Solutions: Running FD/SJ.Note that you might be pushed back to square one whenever, but that doesn't mean it's going to stay like that forever unless he's guessing your attempts right every time. Mid Range (HS Fuujin Range,Out of 6S range) Now that you've gotten closer, you have the option of "psychic" fuujin in his face. However, this should be used sparingly, since he still has range to deal with you. Solutions: IAD,zone with shitsu,Running FD,SJ jD. Poking Range (6S max range,5P max range) This is where things get a little...messy.Both of you have potential pokes and threats at this range.Faust has his handy 5K,2P(poke),FB,he can dash up and start pressuring you or he'll just flat out jump and throw a bag at you.Usually at this range, there's an item that was just thrown out.Be aware of what it is and use whatever you need for the situation.Don't be afraid to lose a few steps. Solution: 6S to poke,HS Fuujin, dashing 2D,jump backwards and IAD in,jump in,2S. The rest is just close range and it's basically another character that doesn't have an "OH SHIT" move(well, maybe his poke your ass Overdrive and that FB which beats all lows). There isn't much else to it other than incorporating your own style into the pressure. Edit: Old video of me vs a Faust http://youtube.com/watch?v=qh6S4390NOI
  19. Against Baiken...any sort of command grab into big damage combo person might be more effective since you get huge chunks of damage on her anyways. But I would put my money on Slayer.Catch her twice and the match is pretty much over.May would do well against her too.Sol is another great possibility.Just think of a person who can grab and do hyper damage since Baikens usually like to block/turtle a lot at the first sign of pressure.
  20. Ok,Anji's not the hardest to pick up...in fact,he's one of the easiest. His combos and strings are pretty easy overall. HOWEVER,in tournament play,Anjis generally don't do well (with a few exceptions). He is a character with glaring weaknesses (only a few moves with very slight frame advantage (negatives on all others basically),although this is compensated with guard points (which allow you to autoguard during an attack, but it is extremely limited in area and frames...IE: 6K only has 1-6 frames of upper body autoguard). So it's not that reliable, but can be rewarding (though it's higher risk for a low reward since you eat a counter hit if you guess wrong). Anji's basically a High Risk Low Return character and tension reliant for combos/frame trapping/pressure.If you're wanting to use Anji,be prepared with all your heart...it's a LONG trip towards victory.
  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91_QmhuCAA0 Lime-Key Ownage.Baiken included.
  22. Anji can combo after On...it's just not worth it unless it's a sure-kill...or spend 50%-75% tension for an issei:ougi (FRC into 5S On) which hardly adds any real damage to it.
  23. Anji was toned down.Whoever was tuned up got twice as much...just look at the S/A tiers.
  24. Exactly. They don't want Anji anywhere near the top.So they have him with low damage,or lower damage with knockdown.Slash was just a mistake. Then there's Eddie.High damage, unblockable strings, and just utter BS off of a single hit.Next, there's Testament...zoning,damage(badlands) AND knockdown. Then there's Slayer:Retarded damage and knockdown. All 3 of them come with meaty oki mixups into combos(or in Eddie's case, unblockables).Where as Anji only has the 3p in a shitsu string (and pray they don't attack back since it's slow,in short,Anji's Risk/Reward is far far far far far far far lower). The 5S not building guard bar was their insult to injury.Oh,we might as well mention the super Guard Point nerf where you have to be a complete psychic now. So what can we Anji players do?Whine and play more AC.(or switch characters)
  25. Why did I start playing Anji...?Well,I just tried every character in the cast first...and I just liked the shitsu pressure more than anything else.Besides,he's got more style and a more laid-back voice in slash.I never spammed 6HS in slash...I spammed 5HS and fuujin more because I was a super scrub back then lol. And another reason that I didn't stick with Ky (even though I was far better off with him early on) is because everyone played Ky/Sol.It just didn't seem unique enough.Slayer/Chipp was too "typical."Baiken wasn't my style,Robo-Ky was weak (overheat much on block?),Eddie/ABA/Axl/Venom/Johnny/I-No/Bridget was just too hard.I didn't want to go potemkin (even though I can very often pull out that potbuster, just wasn't my style).Faust/Zappa was too weird and random (I hated it).Dizzy/Testament just didn't cut it for me.Jam looked way too complex on the input stuff (I was still a bit slow with the IADs).And May?My friend just dolphin spams with her and I didn't want to "copy."(Then he switched to Slayer) Oh...and I almost forgot my last reason,Domi.
