Accent Core Anji Mito Video Discussions Thread
Dawnbringer replied to Dawnbringer's topic in Anji Mito
It's the tutorials from that list. -
Well,I guess you'll get "style" points(as if 3S cancels aren't already enough). But really gain nothing in the end on terms of damage. It's just for those who like to show off to the next level or something.
-
You cannot 5S On if they FD.However,my best suggestion is either 5P and follow up with an air combo or just tech trap after the 5P or just keep going without the 5P and throw them as they land (or you can 3K if you want to switch it up).
-
5S 5HS 3S 5S 5HS is the most damaging combo. However,it requires you to be coming out of a dash so you can actually hit the 2nd 5S or else the 5HS would push them too far back(On a side note,I don't think you can even 5S into 2S after 3S canceling a 5HS,they're just pushed back way too far). So a standard 5S 3S 5S 3S 5S 5HS is probably the next best option.2S 3S 5S is mainly for mixup into higher damage combos(for people you can't do 2S 2D S fuujin into FB Rin) and a pressure string.
-
Ok,I've just recently messed around with 3S cancels.I can hit the timing consistently if I start it off with 5S--->3Sc--->5S (and keep going until they're out of range) but somehow, when I put it into a string, the timing somehow gets a little different (a little slower than usual).Does anyone else have this problem?

Anji has a hard time against Chipps. They like to jump in since you can't deal with him in the Air that easily (especially since jS or jHS really stuffs you at a certain angle). And your best bet is probably to attempt to airthrow his teleports.Your game is to just generally guess what he's gonna do and punish it.You can't really do much else unless you're on offense and again, you'd have to guess if he's gonna try to escape your pressure by triple jumping or beta blade(his DP/Shoryuken).But guess right twice (ending in combos) and you've won the match, maybe it'll take 3-4 depending on bursts. And believe me,it's easier to say how to play Anji than actually performing well with him.

Anji heavily relies on his risk vs reward game which is based on shitsu(otherwise known as butterfly) okizeme. However,Baiken has an unbelievable amount of options for her to choose from to nullify the shitsu okizeme. Here's her main options: 2S,backdash,backward jump,63214K and just plain blocking. Now this makes it hard on Anji to rely on his main risk vs reward game.So offensively,Anji is also as crippled as Baiken is if not more(especially since his throw SUCKS without shitsu pressure after it).She can also choose to counter during the 2nd part of shitsu in case you were baiting. Did I mention that Ouren(412HS) is safe on block? However, this matchup can be won as proven by Lime-Key(though it wasn't a top Baiken player),it just takes a lot more guessing from the Anji player. And obviously,it's harder to autoguard than to just plain input 412(insert button here) while blocking,so Baiken wins in the defensive department. The only "edge" Anji has is more endurance. Ninja Edit: I also play Baiken as a side character (along with...Slayer/Dizzy/Ky) so I know how she works. And it's definitely easy to mix up an Anji with various different guard options during shitsu pressure. Edit 2: Vs Eddie: Anji actually has it better than most of the cast against Eddie because of his various options on defense. So Eddies have to be smart about their pressure as well if you know where to autoguard or HS Fuujin.Anji also has ways getting out of unblockables (but you have to have reversal timing down) unlike others. However, the drill is still a true unblockable if placed correctly (so you're eating it unless you can be godlike at 1 frame blocking). Vs Slayer: Anji is surely at disadvantage in this matchup because of the ridiculous (maybe that's too soft of a word...how about ludicrous?) amounts of damage he can do if you do not guard correctly (and that also includes your guessing game at shitsu because of random BBUs).If Slayer has tension, attack at your own discretion because he can easily turn from being pressured to doing a combo on you. However, this matchup isn't as hard as May/Baike[finput][/finput]xl because you can actually get in on him a lot safer and keep him in shitsu pressure. You can also zone him relatively safely until you have the advantage(but it doesn't mean it's a big advantage at all).
-
Oh,and I think it might be a good idea to train your reversal timing as autoguards are commonly used against okizeme.Try something simple in training mode such as practicing on Anji with this knockdown string set on the dummy: 5K 5S 2D ---> Shitsu (236P) Try to autoguard the shitsu on wakeup with 6K (it's the same concept with 3K but 3K is against lows/straight up command grabs). This will be handy against most okizeme (however, there are characters you cannot autoguard safely on okizeme such as Ky's CSE and robo Ky's bazooka). However,be wary that as Kenji stated that autoguards are sometimes baited in higher level play.
-
6K is the standard for autoguarding high immediately. However,it's not necessarily always the best.6S is a good mid range poke because it also has a big autoguard window, thus you get protection as you use this move (but be wary of dash ins and air dash ins,as it will whiff and you will eat something).5D also has a pretty good autoguard,however...it is SLOW to come out.6HS is a pretty situational autoguard,it's best used as a dead angle/counter bait during a shitsu string. For lows, you'll have to autoguard with 3K,3S,or 2HS.3K is the immediate autoguard, while 3S is prolonged (similar to 6HS) while 2HS is naturally the safest once it's active like 6S.But all in all, autoguards are still highest in risk, but the reward isn't so bad either if you punish correctly. As a fellow Anji player,I highly suggest you find some competition to polish your skills further (and avoid playing against computers as much as possible).Don't be afraid of losing,Anjis generally start out bad but once you have more experience, people you play will start bitching at random Anji stuff.
-
To add onto this matchup: To deal with Potemkin's jump-ins,6P beats jK,jHS and jD,but loses to jS.5P beats jK jHS and jS,but loses to jD.So you're gambling between them using jS and jD if you're planning to AA.Airthrow can't beat jD(and it puts you in a FREE Potbuster position if you block it in the air).Maybe Anji's jD could work here if you can react fast enough to him jumping. Ninja edit: Forgot to mention that while 6K autoguard would work against anything,it'll be a free potbuster if he was baiting with an empty FD jump in(unless you FRC and act accordingly).
-
Btw,you can Fuujin through CSE if it's a meaty. But beware of baits as it isn't exactly hard to just use a low and punish. During CSE Oki: 6K--->P: NEVER.EVER.EVER.Do this unless he's IADing in with airdash mixup. 6K--->D: Risky.Extremely Risky. It's better than P,but it's not like it's good in any way unless he's in your face already. And this is far worst than HS Fuujin...in both risk and reward.Hell,he can just burst after you started hitting him and he gets a free combo or even IK. Lesson:Never autoguard on wakeup against CSE.It works in Slash because of our godly 6HS,but no more. And most Ky players are actually...not composed very well and some rely on his gimmicks (GREED SEVER/STUN DIPPER SPAM).But it doesn't mean all of them are like that.
-
Well,it's sort of a repeat of Ka2 rapefest '06.Anji makes it to the finals just to get OCVed.I feel like starting a May Hate Club or something.
-
For many (I'm most likely subjected to this too),you need to be provoked in order to get to the "next level".And we always improve with each round we play. However, claiming a "top spot" is a goal for some (like myself) and it's just their motivation in getting better. Tournaments to declaring the "best of" isn't THAT pointless.Sure,it's just a mirror match tournament...so it's just whoever's the best at X vs X.However, the main point is to go out there and meet more people.Especially the people who are on the same boat as you are. Sure, anyone could be good. But we want to become better than just "good."I,for one won't settle to being only the best, but I want to go beyond that."Best" is kinda static and I don't want that. It's just as someone said to me "You don't want to be like me.You want to be better than me.And you don't want to stop there either." Ninja edit: Well, nobody is invincible, but it doesn't mean we should just settle after a loss.I just keep striving, regardless of how many times I fall down.
-
Anji mirrors are pretty funny actually.Pui (the other guy in Toronto) lost to me 4/5 times but that means nothing really since he still finished 1st(somehow our guys love eating his HS Fuujins and random sjKs) and I finished 9th.I could blame it on matchup and bad brackets(as it seems that I always have to face the same May every tournament) but he still finished top.Mirrors really say nothing in terms of best Anji, but fun nonetheless.

We need more people like Kyoku to "jump the gun."Because honestly, inactivity in the Anji forums make me sad.And I claimed the title because it would provoke people (unfortunately,I didn't expect a non-Anji player) to actually step up and take it (and produce more videos for me to watch in the meantime). Besides,I'll be honest,I'm not even the best Anji player in Toronto yet (as you can clearly see from the videos,Pui is a better player overall, even though he does scrub stuff,he's far more consistent and far more experienced than I am.I'll put it in his words: I'm more knowledgeable than he is,but when it comes to application,I'm lacking due to being new and inexperienced.Especially because I'm lacking casuals with a variety of players/characters). I'm still relatively new to the game in terms of match-ups,and I don't have much experience at all.But I can still throw around that "self-proclaimed" title because there's hardly ANY Anji action at all in NA.It's not like I'm the best Anji at all. It's more like I'm the only (active) one(the other one in Toronto switches characters like he's going through toilet paper). And there hasn't been much Limekey/Dry Ace on video in action as of lately. And it's sad that Domi's off the radars now.

SlyMoogle had factors in his life that made him be a shitty mod and now I understand. 3S cancels aren't really worth the risk if I know I can't hit it 100%.And it's not necessary to becoming a good Anji player, the little extra damage is nice, but the knockdown is most important for Anji, not flashiness. Airthrows,it's not like I'll catch a faust that often in the air not doing something (or IADing in,especially a new player who doesn't bait). Running Fuujins: I got lazy.No excuse here, even against a new player. Fuujin Loop: Again,I got lazy. Faust specific combo: talking about On into corner butterfly OTGs?I didn't put him there. And I don't want to do 2D ---> On. Double Butterflies: read 3S. Autoguard: Ok,1 match without autoguards against a new player.Big deal. TK: TK Orb...Sure,I could pull out this trick, but I chose not to.Especially when I can just shitsu. ID: I'm guessing you mean "FD Brake".Again,I got lazy and I probably don't use this that often.Good point there. FRC: I really didn't find any FRCing necessary in this match, even for RC,though it would allow me to win faster,I guess I was just being too much of an ass prolonging the guy's defeat. I don't doubt that there are better Anjis than me.But I want to see more Anji action and therefore provoke people with bullshit titles such as these. <_< Ninja Edit: Btw,I know I played like a scrub. And you kinda ruined my provoke tactic for the top Anji players to start playing.I was hoping for one of the other Anjis to step it up isntead of a non-Anji player.

Anji player: Someone who is yelled at for using or spamming HS Fuujin. They're a rare breed and should be neglected even further.
-
Well,if you want to learn the easier way of winning with Anji...copy this guy here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cQ5MzTuP98

Let's all play Anji and be awesome!
-
Actually...I considered myself pretty scrub in that tournament.I think my best match was against Marn, but then it went to crappy Fuujin spamming when I started in the loser's bracket.I'm glad I lost to John (the Ky who is also current top player of TO) because if I won, that'd just be horrible representation of our community's actual skill level.I kinda got lazy in the losers bracket and those habits transfered over to my actual gameplay. And no,tournament pressure isn't an excuse for me. What I needed to do was dead angle against Marn, and actually use my tension at times for FB Rin combos instead(even if they're going to bounce the other way).I still got ways to go with Anji...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2g8caD61MQ Here's my match against a Robo.I'm the Anji guy and it's match 3 of the video. Please don't watch me get creamed by the May after that.

3S: Can be gatlinged into from 2S,5S,5HS.Can be canceled into 5S or 5HS(both canceled before 3S actually appears).Has an autoguard to lows at a certain frame (I don't really remember since I hardly use it for autoguards),and easy to receive a CH if you use it without canceling.Overall risk >>>> reward. However, you will look pro if you actually cancel it off 2S/5S/5HS,exclusive bragging rights included. We actually have a thread on this don't we?

In Slash,Shuuto beat J.T(Anji)/Ogawa(Eddie) to advance. He then beat Tsubu(ABA)/MINT(Testament) in order to advance into the semis.Though Axl is underrepresented,Axl definitely isn't a bad tournament character. And those are some pretty big wins for Shuuto. He did have a (relatively) close match against KA2's rapefest 2006. NINJA EDIT: I think this thread went from "the most balanced GG" to "the least popular character in SBO tournaments."
-
Well,there's always Zappa dog loops.
-
I think I recall a thread with the location of all the Anji players that signed up(and gave their location) on Dustloop (along with a map of the US and an Anji in the background),where did that go?
