Akatsuki and Vatista being in the same tier amazes me considering that that matchup was basically unplayable for Akatsuki last version really really want to see how that matchup is now

I actually end up playing against VR Raiden's Sol very very frequently, and I'd definitely describe him as one of those chaotic types. I used to get bodied by him, but it's getting closer and closer as I'm getting better at catching him overextend/making decisions that end up being wrong. Also still feel like the Sol matchup is still relatively even

is it just me or is Ky's 6P worse in Xrd?

I've got a pretty good one in my area that I play against all the time. Like yeah he's got really big normals and damage, but they're all kinda slow and it's pretty hard for him to keep you out or to even get in on you since his mobility is pretty bad unless he manages to get a hit. And then when you get in, he's got like 0 options to get you off of him besides SNK dodge, which CAN work, but it can get bodied pretty hard

Yeah, Kliff is really strange, but I feel like Ky really wins out on that one. He's kinda helpless when you get in his face

In my experience, dash blocking has been the best way for me to inch my way in. Getting the hang of shielding has also been a HUGE boon for me. Being able to punish jump-ins and other things is a godsend. Playing this character has probably been the hardest I've had to work for my wins ever lol.

Nanase's might be an exception. That one's at least debatable. Most of them seem to be just another move or some other function that really isn't worth the GRD.

honestly it just seems kind of random and arbitrary that the mechanic in general costs GRD. There's nothing about any of those moves that warrants them costing GRD.

I hope they make another version just to fix reflector (among other things Akatsuki could really use). I thought it was completely fucking stupid already that Reflector costs GRD, let alone the fact that it scales way too much and air reflector is pretty much useless.

is it just me or does the air reflector not work on anything but projectiles? If it's really like that, that's actually really lame :/

yeah actually the Justice player in that vid seemed pretty incompetent the footage of Ain Ky vs TON Justice here at 2:50 seems to reflect what you guys are saying about this matchup. Fuck it really looks a lot worse than what I've been playing against. The players I've played didn't have anywhere near as good control of the mines. Even when I played against Eshi at CW6 here, despite all of the mistakes I made (jesus fuck I played so horribly and choked a lot) it was actually really easy for me to get in because the mine formations were nowhere near as optimal. If you look at TON vs Ain, you'll notice that he does a much better job of keeping Ky out because of throwing out the P K S mines in that order. If you just throw out P S like Eshi did a lot, you'll see that there's a pretty gaping hole in that formation if you don't cover it up with other formations like TON does. It's so easy to just jump right in the P S hole, and then I'm in at a range where if you try to throw out another mine, I can just stuff her out of it like with Stun Dipper for example

The Eddie matchup would be extremely helpful for me. That character is my worst goddamn enemy. Even one of our new players who's playing him is giving me problems because I have no idea how to deal with some of his shit even though it seems pretty obvious that there's gotta be a solution for it.

what were the results for GG? I wish I could've been there, but I had to take a friend to go body some folks in UMK3 at TOTFC. I hope y'all will be there next month, because I sure as hell wanna play some games with you folks. Especially Steve H, goddamn I haven't seen that dude since Civil War 3.

so yeah holy fuck NEC was fun but GOODDAAMN I got bopped in GG. I was expecting to do way better than I did considering how well I've been doing against DBC and VR Raiden as of late. Had some real killers make me go 0-2 and I was SALTY. Should've warmed up more too. I'll be ready for next time. Shoutouts to the VSav community as always for being godlike, both the EC folks whose faces I see all the time and the other guys who I got to meet there. Splendid time hanging out with you folks.
